Vanessa has been thinking about that for two days now, she need that money and that was the only person remaining.
An hour later Vanessa arrived at Tiana’s home, She stood in front of the gate and took in a deep breath before she knocked. Mara was surprised, she looked at her mum and tapped her on the arm.
“ Mummy, this isn’t Daddy’s house” She said and Vanessa Smiled. “ Yes, We’re visiting a friend” She said and she felt bad about it. She would be so happy to tell Mara they were visiting her Grandma if only they hadn’t disowned her. A man opened the gate, Vanessa was speechless. She didn’t knew her adopted Father was living there too.
“ Dad” She said under her breath and he looked at Mara who was looking at her mum confusingly. The man didn’t utter a word, he turned inside and Vanessa followed him. She entered inside the house and everyone was there. “ What are you doing here again?” Mum asked looking so angry. “ And you dare brought this bastard to this house?” Tiana Said with a smirk. Vanessa Smiled, she ignored their insult and knelt in front of Her Dad.
“ Daddy please, I need your help” She said as tears Dropped from her eyes. “ I’m not asking to move back in to the house, I want you to lend me some money to go back to the orphanage and look for my parents. I promise to give it back when I return” Vanessa pleaded. “ oh wow! I thought you are living an extravagant life but I was wrong” Tiana burst in to Laughter after saying that. “ Please Daddy” She pleaded. Mara stood there looking at the man who her mum was calling Dad. She was confused on why he didn’t even answer her Mum if truly he was her Dad.
“ She’s talking to you” Mara said to the man and he raised up his head from the newspaper he was reading. “ Wow! The bastard got some wings too like her Mummy” Tiana said and Mara turned to her. “ I’m not a bastard, I have a father” She snarled at her and Tiana was taken aback. “ Baby, stop” Vanessa said and Mara kept quiet. “ Wow! Wonderful” Tiana clapped her hands together. “ And who’s your Daddy?” She asked Mara who was looking at the man. “ Mummy is talking to you” Mara repeated. “ You are not her real Daddy right? If it’s My Daddy, he would’ve given her what she asked for!” Mara Screamed at him.
She was pained that her Mum was kneeling in front of a man whom she called Daddy, begging him and crying.
“ Then tell your Daddy to give her!” The man shouted at Mara. “ My Daddy will give her” Mara said in tears. She held Vanessa’s hand and sniffed “ Let’s go Mummy, Daddy will give you anything you ask for” Vanessa couldn’t stop crying, she stood up from the floor and left the house with Mara.
“ Stop crying Mummy” Mara said and Vanessa cleaned her face. “ I’m sorry Mara but I can’t go to your Daddy for help” Vanessa said. “ He will give….” She paused when Vanessa’s phone started ringing, she brought it out from her bag and answered it. “ Okay, we’ll be back now” She put the phone back inside her bag and turned to Mara. “ Let’s Go home, Uncle Derek is back” She stopped a taxi and they entered.
“ Where have you been?” Derek asked as Vanessa and Mara entered the house. “ We…” Mara interrupted her. “ We went to see Mummy’s Mum and Dad” She said Angrily. “ Why?” Derek asked looking at Mara. Vanessa tried to stop her from talking but Mara didn’t even look at her. “ Mummy went to lend Money from them and they insulated mummy, they even called me Bastard. I have Daddy, uncle Derek” Mara pointed to her chest. He felt so bad that they could call a little girl that name. “ Of course you have Daddy and you are not a bastard, do not even listen to them” Derek said.
He looked at Vanessa who’s eyes were swollen from crying.
“ I bought you Goodies” He said to Mara and her face lit up. “ Really?” She asked him and he nodded his head. “ Yes, it’s in the room” He pointed to his room and Mara ran excitedly. After Mara had entered the room, Derek moved closer to Vanessa and Smiled. “ I’m sorry for making you go there” He said and Vanessa Smiled. “ It’s okay” She said. Derek put his hand inside his pocket and brought out an envelope.
“ I’m sorry for not saying anything to you since you asked me about the money. Here” He handed over the envelope to her. “ Take this money and use it wisely, Don’t even think of paying me back” He said smiling. Vanessa looked at the Envelope and then at Derek, she didn’t know what to say and she hugged him. “ Thank you so much Derek” She looked at the envelope again and hugged him tightly. “ You are the best, I’ll never forget your kind deeds” Vanessa said cleaning the tears on her face and smiling.
“ I pray you find your parents. When are you leaving?” He asked her. “ Tomorrow” Vanessa said. “ Do you think Mara would agree to go with you?” He asked her and she smiled. “ I won’t tell her where we are going” Vanessa said and he understood her. “ Alright, Best of luck.”
Vanessa returned back to her room, She was so happy and jumped on the bed excitedly.
“ Thank you Derek” She said again and again. She dropped the envelope on the bed and started folding their clothes inside the trolley. Mara Entered with a bag of chips, she was surprised to see her mum folding their clothes and she sat on the bed looking at her curiously.
