Chapter 232: Chapter 232
"If Kiki still likes you, I’m happy to support you two. If she doesn’t like you anymore, I’d naturally hope that someone else could make her happy."
Lucas Robertson asked, "Are you going to introduce her to a new boyfriend?"
Sienna Johnson laughed, "Lucas Robertson, why don’t you seize the opportunity now that you understand your own heart? It might be too late later, and she may no longer be yours. Remember, feelings can change easily, and even the deepest love will wither and die without reciprocation..."
Sienna’s point was for Lucas Robertson to pursue Kiki. If he succeeded, she would gladly support them. If he didn’t, she would continue to introduce Kiki to other potential boyfriends.
"Kiki should be making pastries with Curly in the kitchen now. Go find her," Sienna suggested.
But Lucas Robertson just stood there, a faint, suspicious blush creeping over his slightly dark face. Sienna was about to walk to the garden. Seeing him still standing there, she asked curiously, "Why aren’t you leaving?"
"What can a man like me do in the kitchen?"
Sienna squinted her eyes, observing this man who possessed some of the inherent flaws typical of Abyanabad men, and she coldly snorted, "In Orienta, the standard of a good man in this new era is one capable of excelling both in the main hall and in the kitchen."
"Oh? I remember Mrs. Smith has a nephew who is very gentle and considerate, and he’s also a great cook. I wonder if Kiki would like him?"
Upon hearing this, Lucas Robertson’s head throbbed. He quickly said, "I’ll go to the kitchen to see if there’s anything I can help with."
True to his word, Lucas Robertson actually went to the kitchen. Sienna looked at Lucas Robertson’s retreating back and couldn’t help but giggle.
So, Lucas acts silly when he’s in love, too. Sienna chuckled to herself. Suddenly, a man appeared on top of the wall, startling her badly.
"What’s so funny?" Adrian Desmond asked, perched on the wall and smiling.
Sienna’s face darkened immediately. "Why are you here?"
"Oh, this is my new home. From now on, we’ll be neighbors," Adrian Desmond said, his eyes shining with an excitement that suggested he was thrilled by the prospect of being Sienna’s neighbor.
Sienna had just heard from Lucas Robertson that Adrian Desmond was buying a house nearby, and now he had already moved in. This speed astonished her.
Adrian Desmond climbed up the wall and jumped down into the Johnson Family’s backyard. Seeing him enter their property so casually, as if he owned the place, made Sienna suddenly feel their home wasn’t very secure. Check latest chapters at N0v3l.Fiɾe.net
"Who allowed you to come in? This is the Johnson Family’s home! Did you get permission from the owner?" Sienna asked, her face stern.
"Curly said I’m always welcome at the Johnson Family’s home." He didn’t say the words ’as a guest.’ He wouldn’t admit he was merely a guest; sooner or later, he vowed, he would also become a master of this house.
"Curly?" Sienna’s mouth twitched.
"Yeah, isn’t Curly an owner here? Besides, as Curly’s father, I’m not exactly an outsider."
Adrian Desmond strolled through the Johnson Family’s backyard as if it were his own, completely at ease and making himself quite at home. He plucked a rose from the rose bed and presented it to Sienna. "I know you prefer lotuses, but they only have roses here. Make do with this for now."
"You stole a flower from our garden and then gave it to me?" Sienna retorted sarcastically.
Adrian Desmond replied shamelessly, "Stealing flowers doesn’t count as stealing!"
Sienna’s mood for a stroll in the backyard was ruined by this sudden intruder. Knowing she couldn’t drive away the thick-skinned Adrian Desmond, she ignored him and left the backyard directly.
Adrian Desmond was familiar with the layout of the Johnson Family’s house, so he knew Sienna was heading to her room. It wouldn’t be appropriate for him to follow her there.
"Hey, are you just leaving like that?"
Yes, Sienna Johnson left just like that, leaving a disappointed Adrian Desmond behind.
Little Ninth climbed up the ladder onto the wall and said to Adrian Desmond, "Sixth Master, stop looking. Sister-in-law has already left. She’s ignoring you."
Adrian Desmond plucked another rose and accurately threw it, hitting Little Ninth in the face. The rose, with its thorns, pricked Little Ninth’s face a few times, and he couldn’t smile anymore.
"Sixth Brother, if you’d thrown it a bit off and hit my eye, wouldn’t my big eyes be ruined?"
"Big eyes? Your squinty eyes are smaller than Curly’s."
Seeing no sign of Sienna Johnson returning, Adrian Desmond jumped back over the wall to his newly bought house. It was an Orienta-style house, with some history to it, somewhat resembling his ’Desmond Family’ home in Abyanabad.
His ancestors were actually from Orienta but had later migrated to Abyanabad to escape war and persecution.
When Adrian Desmond’s grandfather was alive, he would have the younger members of the family learn the Orienta language and Orienta culture, and practice calligraphy. Adrian Desmond and his sister had studied it for a while when they were young. However, after their parents passed away, he could no longer write Orienta characters, though he could still communicate in the language without issue.
His grandfather had always hoped he would marry an Orienta woman. He hadn’t expected to actually fall in love with one. Adrian Desmond wondered if his grandfather, were he watching from the heavens, would be happy for him.
With a ’big bad wolf’ living next door, Sienna Johnson no longer dared to take her post-dinner walks in the backyard.
She actually had a habit of taking a stroll in the backyard after dinner, using the time to ponder difficult problems. Sometimes, while walking, she would hit upon a good solution. But this habit was forcefully abandoned because of Adrian Desmond.
No one wanted to be startled by the sudden appearance of a ’big bad wolf’ during a pleasant walk.
While Sienna Johnson was troubled, Adrian Desmond was equally vexed.
He found that after he had scaled the wall a few times, hoping for a rendezvous with his beloved, she no longer appeared in the backyard.
Adrian Desmond’s wall-climbing activities had to cease.
After all, his purpose for going to the Johnson Family’s backyard wasn’t purely to admire the beautiful garden scenery.
"I am not!" Sienna Johnson finally snapped, texting Adrian Desmond back.
"Why don’t you go to the backyard anymore?"
"Because a wolf has shown up in the backyard."
"A wolf? What wolf? I’ll help you chase it away."
Since wall-climbing was no longer an option, Adrian Desmond resorted to messaging her on WhatsApp. In any case, Adrian Desmond’s strategy for pursuing his wife was to relentlessly make his presence felt. His goal was for Sienna Johnson to become so accustomed to his presence that she would feel his absence.
"Curly is going to the amusement park tomorrow. You should come too, right?"
"Isn’t she going with you?"
Sienna Johnson had many complaints about Adrian Desmond, but she was quite satisfied with how he took care of Curly. Adrian Desmond was patient with Curly and doted on her. So much so that Curly now often started her sentences with, "My daddy says..." or "My daddy said..." It seemed everything revolved around what her daddy said.
"Children need their father, but they need their mother even more. Sienna, did you know Curly has grown another centimeter taller?"
How would Sienna Johnson notice such minor details?
