The bastard child becomes the empires royal consort Chapter 46
The creature’s entire upper body was frozen solid, turned stiff and white, with its facial features stuck in a dumbfounded expression.
Alan frowned, stroking his chin, taking a proper look at the creature for the first time, it was bigger than him, taller, tougher, stronger and most importantly, absolutely hideous.
In fact, the creature was still alive, just in a state where it couldn’t move, despite its upper body being frozen, its legs twitched, as well as its fingers.
He raised his foot.
Crack
A single kick shattered the frozen torso into thousands of icy shards.
[Reaper]
The moment he did so, his skill [reaper] activated, allowing him to instantly absorb and refine the mana from the abyssal creature into his own mana core, without having to rip its heart out... or hearts?
Well, he wasn’t sure, all he knew was abyssal creatures possessed multiple mana cores and a mana core located in the heart, so they probably had multiple hearts?
Either way, Alan released a long breath, adjusting to the rush of mana in his own body, the sheer amount he absorbed was far greater than any beast he previously hunted, even more than the griffin he once fought.
Alan clenched his fingers together for a moment, the difference was almost neglible, this much wouldn’t bring him anywhere close to breaking through the next rank, still the newly refined mana slightly expanded his blood vessels, strengthening his mana flow.
"Whew..." Alan let out a final sigh, finishing his absorption process, and turned his head to the side, gazing at the direction he flew in from. "I need to get back to the church..."
But what will he do once he gets there? Was there even a place he could bring the girls to safety in this chaos?
Well, at the very least he managed to take out the only abyssal creature at the church, before engaging in battle with the bat-like creature, Alan scoured all other areas of the church, finding no one else.
Hiss
Unfortunately, his thought process didn’t last long, a sharp sound cut through the air, directed at Alan.
Alan lifted his head to the source of the noise, perched atop a burning rooftop was another abyssal creature.
It wasn’t alone on the street, two more abyssal creatures slowly, cautiously approached Alan with predatory glares.
"You know what? This is exactly what I wanted." Alan grinned.
For the past two months, his progression rather stagnated, mostly due to the absolute lack of hunts he has left for, in fact, his main reason for leaving for the demons continent was to hunt abyssal creatures, to rise through the ranks.
Now they were practically feeding themselves to him? How could he pass up such a perfect opportunity?
Alan didn’t wait, he stole the initiative before the creatures could even react.
BANG
A torrent of violet flames devoured a small section of the third district.
...
Meanwhile, in a different part of the third district.
Lucian’s figure was a blur, sprinting along the ablaze rooftops, everywhere he stepped a wave of icy chill burst out, not only overwhelming the flames but also turning the surface of the charred buildings to a thin sheet of ice.
Amidst his run, two abyssal creatures lunged at him from ahead.
Pssst
Jagged pillars of ice erupted from the floor beneath the creatures, impaling them through their soft underbellies, freezing them from neck down.
Stuck in a helpless situation, they could only await what came next.
Thud Thud
Their heads dropped to the slippery cold floor, rolling down the rooftop.
In that small moment, Lucian decapitated the two with his giant scythe, black blood sprayed out, sticking onto the side of his face.
Shatter
Lucian then crumbled the pillars of ice, disintegrating the corpses of the creatures along with the ice.
And he did all of this with a grin, the usually emotionless and expressionless Lucian was nowhere to be seen.
He jumped from building to building, dowsing the dancing flames with frost and massacring whatever creatures came his way, with a maniacal grin plastered on his lips, an expression which didn’t suit the situation one bit.
A smile that reached ear to ear, paired along with a white blindfold and black blood splattered on the side of his jaws, made for a rather... interesting appearance.
"He can make a face like that...?" Iris, just a couple streets over, caught a glimpse of Lucian’s face.
Even though she knew him for about three weeks, seeing the man smile for the first time naturally baffled her, especially considering the environment they were in.
She didn’t have much time to dwell on it.
Clang
Iris deflected an attack aimed for her head with her golden sword.
She was surrounded by four abyssal creatures circling around her, still she didn’t panic, she kept her composure, calmly wielding her soul weapon.
The creature ahead of her had six arms and a facial composition of an insect, glaring at her with its deformed body.
As if in agreement, all four creatures lunged at her at the same time.
Clang Clang
Iris didn’t even look, guided by her instincts, she parried every last one of the metallic claws with elegant movements.
She pivoted on her heels, twisting and turning her body like a ballet performer doing sword dances, but the speed of her actions were absurb, Iris was moving fast enough to leave behind afterimages.
Clang Clang
Her speed didn’t decrease, only slowly, but gradually accelerating as she continuously reflected every attack made her way, becoming a spinning flash of yellow light.
Before the creatures even noticed it, small nicks and cuts appeared on the creatures’ dark skin, small and insignificant at first but progressively deepened.
Very soon, the blade tore through the creatures’ flesh, leaving behind cuts down to their bones, then their limbs were severed without them even noticing, and next, their whole torso was diced into pieces as they lost their lives.
"I need to get used to fighting like this." Although she just butchered three abyssal creatures without a single scratch dealt to her body, Iris complained. "And this is not good for my hair..."
Fighting and slaughtering creatures at such close range was bound to douse her in blood against her own will, her shoulder-length red hair was now damp with black blood, trickling down her forehead and past her scarlet blindfold.
Behind her, an abyssal creature swayed side to side, its six arms reduced to one, it barely held onto its life, flesh around its torn cuts squirmed as it rapidly regenerated, tendrils spiked out of its stubs, forming new arms.
But Iris didn’t even look at it.
Crackle
Because a crimson bolt of lightning eradicated the creature before it could do anything.
Iris turned to her left, a fair distance away, there was a storm of crimson thunder descending upon the district.
Standing atop the edge of a rooftop, Julia glanced down with an indifferent expression, in her right hand, she gripped onto the same jagged, uneven black spear.
Unlike the others, where the creatures actively swarmed them, they avoided Julia in a peculiar manner.
They glared at her with open hostility, but never attacking her, they kept a distance like there was an invisible wall preventing them from approaching Julia.
Julia pushed her left foot forward and arched her back, loading the spear in her hands, and assumed the stance of throwing a javelin.
BOOM
The spear eradicated four abyssal creatures at the same time, as if that wasn’t enough, it rained crimson thunder onto the nearby creatures.
The abyssal creatures abandoned all hesitation, instantly jumping onto the roof, lunging straight at Julia.
A creature came from the right, she stretched her arms in its direction as blood-red lightning crackled in a palm.
In the blink of an eye.
Spurt
She summoned the very same spear she held previously, her soul weapon, now dug into the creature’s skull, protruding out the creature’s lower back.
Julia knew simply impaling the creature wouldn’t finish it.
Crackle
From deep inside of the abyssal creature’s body, she erupted a burst of lighting, burning through the creature’s nervous system, organs and mana cores.
Its body twitched violently, then slumped like a sack of skewered meat, charred with smoke dissipating into the air.
Julia’s expression remained ice cold, she didn’t betray a single emotion on her face, her crimson eyes watched everything with utter disinterest.
She swiped the spear behind her, launching the burnt corpse into another creature jumping towards her.
Thud
The corpse collided with the approaching creature, halting it for a brief second.
Spurt
And in that brief second, Julia impaled the creature, her spear piercing through the corpse and into the creature’s chest.
And.
Crackle
It met the same, horrifying end.
BANG
Very far from where the three of them were, an explosion of violet flames erupted, large enough for the group to see.
Lucian, Iris and Julia paused for a moment, staring at the distinctive violet flames, before coming to the conclusion Alan was fine.
For no reason at all, or maybe to send back a message to Alan.
BANG
FLASH
THOOM
They exploded the district in their own way.
