The bastard child becomes the empires royal consort Chapter 45

Alan flew through the air, rolling down the grassy hill, then spun around and stood on his two feet.

He didn’t have much time, tapping his necklace, he summoned out two weapons, one was the mirror blade given to him by Julia, the other was a sword with black steel as the blade.

Before he even took a stance, the air ahead of him parted.

Clang

Using the sword in his left hand, Alan blocked a claw aimed for his neck.

The deadlock didn’t last long, the creature quickly released hold of Alan’s sword and ducked low, copying Alan’s exact moves from before.

It launched a left hook, aimed for Alan’s ribs, the speed of his claws broke the sound barrier.

Spurt

With the mirror blade in his right hand, Alan impaled the incoming fist, driving the blade into the creature’s bones.

Alan jerked the dagger towards himself, forcefully yanking the creature towards him.

Spurt

Alan drove the sword into the creature’s chest, passing through its ribs and lungs, popping out from the creature’s back.

As if that wasn’t enough, Alan released his grip on the mirror blade, as the creature tilted backward, Alan spun on his left heel, rotating his entire body, and launched a brutal back kick.

Bang

His right foot struck into the skewered sword hilt, pushing the blade deeper into the creature’s body, the sheer force of his kick threw the creature flying back.

Black blood splattered across his face, paying it no attention, Alan kept his gaze fixed ahead.

As the dust cleared, it revealed the bat-like abyssal creature rising from its position, thick black blood oozing from its wounds, the wood stuck in its knee joint, the dagger embedded in its left fist and the sword plunged into its chest.

But it stood up like the injuries didn’t bother it, not even letting out a sound.

"Hmm." Alan stroked his chin, in thought for a moment. "What did she say the dagger’s ability was again?"

The mirror blade was obviously an expensive artifact, the ability was... ah, right, to duplicate itself after being thrown.

However, it was already stuck in the creature’s hand...

Absent-mindedly he gripped his right hand, but surprisingly there was something in his palm.

"Huh." Alan looked down, taking notice of the mirror blade in his hand. "Is this how it works?"

Raising his head, Alan focused on the creature, in its left fist, the dagger was still embedded, but the handle was different, like the entire item itself was a mirror rather than a weapon.

"Oh, that’s pretty coo—"

Alan didn’t get to finish his words, in a blink of an eye, the creature grabbed his face.

It twisted its body in a grotesque manner, preparing to throw Alan, just before it did, Alan plunged the mirror blade into the creature’s left shoulder joints.

His attack didn’t stop its actions, in the next second, Alan was flying through the air, the hill and the structure of the church quickly became a blur, receding into the distance.

He flew past the wall of flames before finally.

Bang

Crashing into a burning building.

"Who did I run into..." Alan forced himself to stand up, muttering curses at himself.

Abyssal creatures were strong, it was an undeniable fact, they grow their strength by devouring other beings, be it humans or beasts, the act of violence was in their nature, as it was their only way of progressing their core.

And every existence they devour, they absorb parts of the beings characteristics, not only making them stronger but also developing an even wider range of skills.

Step Step

Alan’s little recollection was cut short by approaching footsteps.

The bat-like abyssal creature was there already, just a few steps away from Alan.

Their new location was gruesome, extremely so, bloodstains remained on the streets as the flames raged on in the background, the houses all engulfed in embers raising smoke high into the sky.

Alan sighed, tapping his necklace, another sword flung into the air before settling in his grip, raising his blade to the creature ahead of him, Alan didn’t say anything.

Woo

Instead, a warm, violet light wrapped around the sword, reinforcing the blade’s edge with his own mana, Alan readied a mana blade.

This time Alan initiated the attack, he threw the mirror blade in a straight line while simultaneously dashing forward with the left hand raised above his head.

The creature twisted its body at the last moment, narrowly avoiding the flying dagger, but it didn’t save itself from Alan’s sword strike.

Spurt

In a clean motion, Alan severed its right arm from the creature’s shoulder, causing a burst of black blood.

He didn’t stop, gripping the empty air with his right hand, the mirror blade appeared as if it was always there, utilising the dagger, Alan drove it into the creature’s left shoulder joint.

Spurt

Multiple times, Alan left the dagger dug inside the creature’s flesh, creating new duplicates in his hand as he proceeded to skewer the creature in numerous locations.

Lastly, Alan slashed with his sword once more, aiming for the stunned creature’s neck.

Bang

Unfortunately, the ground caved in just before the strike connected, at the very last moment, the creature regained its instincts, collapsing the ground below its feet and swiftly retreating a small distance from Alan.

Alan didn’t feel regret or anything of the sort, in fact, he felt nothing as he stared at his opponent, his eyes behind his blindfold were cold, his expression was devoid of any emotion.

In that quick rush of attack, Alan impaled and embedded the mirror blade into the creature’s joints and vital organs, logically speaking, it shouldn’t even be capable of standing.

Yet, against all logic, it was standing upright, glaring into Alan’s face with pure, raw hatred.

Then Alan noticed something strange, the stub in the creature’s right shoulder, where its arm was once connected to its shoulder, the flesh squirmed.

Slow at the start, then violent spasms, tendrils of dark flesh crawled out of the stub and bones, interlocking together.

Baffled, Alan continued to stare at the unfolding scene ahead of him, as the tendrils of darkness condensed together.

Very soon, the creature stood there with an entirely new, functional arm, it clenched its claws together, as if assessing the condition of the regenerated arm.

"Ah... right..." Alan finally remembered a crucial detail about the abyssal creatures, of what made them a nightmare to fight against.

Not only did they grow stronger from devouring, copying and usurping other beings, but they could also regenerate, an unfathomable innate ability every abyssal creature possessed.

As long as they still had their core, an abyssal creature could effectively recover from any injuries, even if it was decapitated, and to make it worse? They didn’t have a singular mana core, they possessed multiple cores depending on their rank.

That was what made abyssal creatures and demons the most feared species in the world, their very existence was something that shouldn’t exist.

"Screw it." Alan muttered.

All it did was just make the fight more annoying for Alan, not that he cared if the creature could regenerate, he’d just figure something out.

"Well... that’s a lot easier said than do—" Amidst his self-chatter, the creature already lunged at Alan.

He didn’t panic, Alan was waiting for it.

The creature swiped its right hand at Alan’s head, in response, Alan ducked low, readying his sword for a thrust, but before Alan could stab, his face was met with a knee.

Thud

Alan’s neck recoiled back, he twisted his head at the last moment to minimise the damage, but it still connected with his face.

In his awkward position, Alan swiped his leg, knocking the creature off its feet.

Then exploded a miniature blast of violet flames behind his back and left elbow, effectively accelerating his movements in one direction.

Spurt

Alan drove the sword into the creature’s side, the metal blade penetrating through the scaly stomach and out the other side.

Then Alan infused the blade with something, not with his own mana.

But with a rush of frosty white flames, the area’s temperature suddenly plummeted as the sword’s metal turned glacier.

Crack

It didn’t last long, the sharp edges cracked, unable to handle the flames, it crumbled into pieces, but it served its purpose.

From the open cut of the creature’s stomach, frost spread out, freezing it inside out, its stomach quickly overlapped in a thin layer of slippery ice.

Within seconds Alan froze the creature’s entire torso, from its inner organs to its shoulder, leaving only its neck free to move.

Its four crimson eyes rolled around and locked onto Alan, confusion evident in its bat-like features.

"Regenerate from this, fucker." Alan reached his answer on how to eliminate the creature.

If it could recover from any and every attack, why not just bloody solidify it so that it couldn’t fight back?

With a crooked smirk, Alan grabbed the creature’s face, just like it’d done to him before.

Crack

And blasted a violent gush of white flames from his palm, point blank, straight into the creature’s skull.
