Chapter 36: Chapter 36

"So, Gage told me that there's going to be a party tonight," Sierra grinned the second she said her boyfriend's name.  Grace laughed and turned into the parking lot of the school. "Obviously we're all invited. I still don't know if I'm going, considering I'm so close to my due date and his parties can get pretty violent if you're in the wrong place and the wrong time. It might not be good for little Chloe," Sierra rubbed her stomach.

Grace twisted her car keys and the engine instantly shut off. She turned around and looked at Sierra. "It'd probably be best if we skipped out on this one. I mean that group is not very fond of Carter, Sierra you're three weeks away from your due date, and Kaelyn... you've barely even talked to any of those boys in five months," Grace sighed. Sierra rolled her eyes.

"Actually... no, I uh, I talked to Shane last night," I admitted. Both Grace and Sierra's jaws dropped. I opened the car door and stepped out, hauling my backpack over my shoulder as I did. The two of them followed me through the masses of students, asking me millions of questions.

"What happened? Who took you? And once again, what the hell happened?" Grace demanded answers. I laughed and put my hand to my forehead, to shade out the sun.

"Carter drove me after-school. Nothing happened, really," I lied. Lots happened. "We just talked about his note, which I now know how he broke into my locker," I glanced at Grace. She was triumphantly smiling to herself. "And then he told me that it doesn't matter anymore because he's not allowed to go to prom... all because Tyler went and started shit." I groaned.

"That's it? You just 'talked'?" Sierra raised her eyebrows at me. I felt heat rising to my cheeks.

"Yep," I lied. Grace began hysterically laughing and shaking her head.

"Nope," she managed to say. I rolled my eyes.

"Are you two back together now?" Sierra questioned.

"Not officially, but we might as well be," I returned. He hasn't actually asked me to be his girlfriend, yet.

"Speaking of him, look who's here," Grace nodded towards 'The Big Bad Four' who are walking in our direction. Sierra's eyes brightened the moment she saw Gage.

Gage ran towards Sierra, the biggest smile appeared on his face when he wrapped his arms around her shoulders. He planted many kisses on her cheek, which caused Sierra to go into a fit of giggles. She pushed him off of her, but then she grabbed his hand and intertwined their fingers together.

I watched Shane walk up to me, his dark hair was covering one of his eyes, his bright blue eyes. He grabbed my outstretched hand, pulling me close to him. Time seemed to freeze, it was only the two of us standing outside the school. I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer than I should. We embraced each other for a minute, then pulled away, only to meet the gaze of our confused friends.

"I guess I'm the only one who's single again," Vincent laughed. I glanced at Kyle, who was being quiet again.

"Kyle? You're with someone?" I raised my eyebrows. A blush appeared on Kyle's cheeks as he stared at the ground.

"Yeah..." he said. I smiled and grabbed Shane's hand. He smiled, pulling me to his side.

"Who's the lucky girl?" I asked, which caused Kyle to blush a deeper red.

"Her name is Samantha Clearwater... you wouldn't know her; she's kind of quiet." Kyle looked around, as if he was trying to spot her. I know exactly who he's talking about. Samantha Clearwater, the theatre girl with the pastel blue hair and pale skin. I can see why Kyle is attracted to her, she's gorgeous and she has a great personality. I wonder why she's not with him now.

"Yeah, Vincent, I guess you are the only single one now." I laughed. Vincent rolled his eyes; someone cleared their throat.

"Ahem, I'm still single," Grace said. I stared at her.

"What about Carter?" I asked. Shane stiffened, I squeezed his hand. He's still uncertain about Carter... they don't really get along.

"Eh, it's something, but not really something that's going to blossom," she sighed. I nodded. Vincent straightened and moved so he was standing next to Grace. He slung his arm around her shoulder and squeezed her.

"You know, that offer I made a few months ago is still available," he smirked.

"Thank you," Grace started, "but no thank you." She took Vincent's hand and let it fall off her shoulder.

"You sure about that, babe?" he winked. Grace faked throwing up and everyone started laughing.

"Sorry, Vincent, but I think you're just too bad for me. Sorry, babe," she mocked. I couldn't control my laughter. Vincent rolled his eyes and stood next to Kyle.

"Bro, you might as well stop trying. Your hitting on Grace is kind of getting... hmm... how to put this? Old, annoying, and hopeless," Gage said. Soon enough, all of us were laughing uncontrollably, except Vincent. He had his arms crossed over his chest as he was trying to ignore the obnoxious bunch of teenagers in front of him.

As if on cue, the warning bell rang. Everyone in our 'little group' went their separate ways. Except for Shane and me, we walked in the direction of Medusa's class. We were almost late, but we arrived just in time. The homeroom bell rang as we took our seats in the back of the classroom.

Mrs. Sealock quickly took roll, then she started giving the class a lecture about who knows what. The whole class period Shane was playing with my hair, braiding it, flipping it over my head, and basically everything he could do to annoy me.

I guess we're back to our old ways, and that is most definitely a good thing.
