Chapter 138: Chapter 138

Conrad Sterling watched Anna Thornton walk over to Finn Grant with a cold expression, neither angry nor anxious.

As the woman turned back, he seemingly casually took a necklace out of his pocket and played with it in his hand.

The soft and understated glow of the emerald on the necklace had an astonishing allure, firmly capturing the light in Anna’s eyes.

Finn thought he had the victory secured tonight and was about to reach for Anna’s hand to take her back. However, she suddenly took a step back, avoiding contact with him.

"Sorry, Young Master Grant, how about... I find you a driver?"

At her words, Finn narrowed his eyes at her dangerously, "What did you say?"

"I’m really sorry, I’m here to take Conrad Sterling home. After all, I’m relying on him for food and shelter now, so it’s convenient to go back together. Your place is really out of the way for me. So, it’s best you go back on your own."

Anna’s sudden change of heart immediately infuriated Finn: "Anna Thornton, are you blind or is something wrong with your head? Standing next to Conrad Sterling, it’s obvious that I’m more handsome and stylish, more deserving of a woman’s affections!"

Anna understood why Finn’s confident demeanor felt so familiar; she had said similar things when comparing herself to Marilyn Ford.

Out of camaraderie, Anna nodded amicably, indicating agreement with Finn’s words.

Then the man continued, "What’s so good about Conrad Sterling, can’t I give it to you?"

"Um... there’s only one of this in the world, you really can’t give it to me!"

As she spoke, Anna had already moved from beside Finn over to Conrad.

This time, Conrad smiled with a victorious stance, schadenfreudely, "What if Young Master Grant is the last to leave?"

Before Ethan Hawthorne could speak, Finn couldn’t help but retort, "What does it have to do with you? Just the drink money, I can afford it."

"Paying is a small matter, the key is the punishment after..."

Conrad deliberately left his sentence unfinished, as if he were tipsy.

The three men present were well aware that whoever was last today would have to be punished by disciplining a female companion, live streaming the play.

Yet Finn didn’t even have a girlfriend. He had spent the past while pursuing Anna, only for her to choose another man when she arrived. ʀᴇᴀᴅ ʟᴀᴛᴇsᴛ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀᴛ nοvelfire.net

Who would Finn discipline?

Anna helped the lounging Conrad up from the sofa, his weight nearly causing her to lose balance.

What is this situation?

Why wasn’t she at home getting some beauty sleep instead of coming here out of curiosity?

They come to such places to indulge, and yet after they’re done enjoying, they expect women to take care of them, using their women as gambits for betting games, what kind of people are these?

She should leave this man on the street for the night.

Anna was just about to toss Conrad off when she recalled the emerald necklace left by her father, still in his hand, and suppressed that thought.

Gritting her teeth, Anna supported Conrad and walked out of the room, aware that Finn’s eyes were glaring at her from behind.

Great, now she’s really offended someone!

Finally, inside the elevator, Anna leaned against the wall and took a deep breath, sighing, "So heavy!"

Suddenly, Conrad’s weight on her seemed to lighten.

Anna looked up, seeing Conrad’s eyes in a half-dazed state, mumbled, "Are you drunk or not, if not, walk by yourself, I can hardly hold on."

"..." Conrad didn’t walk by himself.

In the parking lot, Anna took Conrad’s car key and opened the door.

Just having gotten her driver’s license and driving such a good car, Anna was a bit nervous.

She got into the car and sat in the driver’s seat, touching the steering wheel and dashboard area, "Aston Martin DB9, James Bond’s official car, and the custom model from the movie 007, this is way too cool!"

Excited, Anna rubbed her hands together before driving, wanting to take a bath and change clothes, even light incense if possible... to express her tribute to this classic movie series and admiration for this cool machine.

Anna wanted to play some music, but saw that all Conrad had downloaded were classical pieces, which didn’t quite feel right.

So she switched to the radio, selecting a fiery and noisy rock song.

From the back seat, the loud music seemed to be bursting Conrad’s head.

But seeing Anna in the driver’s seat shaking to the beat, happily shoulder-dancing, he said nothing.

Returning to Sterling Residence, everyone else was already asleep.

With great effort, Anna managed to haul Conrad upstairs to the second floor, feeling like her bones were coming apart, finally losing balance and collapsing onto the bed with Conrad.

"Oh god, next time for this backbreaking work, get Ethan, okay? Otherwise, if I exhaust myself, who’s going to take care of Pop?"

Anna sprawled on the bed, too lazy to get up, venting her frustration with a heavy slap on Conrad’s chest.

To her surprise, she found his chest muscles were quite firm.

Anna, curious, wanted to test the feel again, but as soon as her hand reached out, it was captured.

Conrad pinned her hand above her head, suddenly flipping over to press down on her.

Relying on his long limbs, he enveloped her entirely in his shadow.

The bedroom lights were off, and Conrad leaned closer in the dark, trying to kiss Anna’s lips.

But Anna turned away!

Not only did Anna turn her head, but she covered her lips with her other hand in a strict defense.

"Hmph! Like I said before, there won’t be a next time you kiss me this easily!"

Even the domineering CEO can slip up, Conrad couldn’t stand the embarrassment of misjudging. Knowing Anna’s personality, she would definitely make a fuss given the chance, so he simply leaned his weight on her and closed his eyes.

"Conrad Sterling, do I look particularly easy to bully?"

"Don’t you think you’re contradicting yourself? Disdain me on one hand, yet you get close to me. Actually... you’ve already fallen for me, right?" Anna prodded him with her finger, prompting, "If you like someone, say it, don’t you think tonight’s atmosphere is perfect for a confession?"

However, there was no response!

Anna pushed him, finding the man limp and breathing steadily as if asleep, climbed up to turn on the bedside lamp.

"Are you kidding? You fell asleep this fast? You must be faking it!"

Anna doubted him, crouched beside the bed and poked his waist again, knowing that spot being ticklish couldn’t be easily pretended.

But looking at Conrad, his eyes remained peacefully closed, giving no response.

"He’s really drunk, huh? Hmph, as expected, men always like to have their cake and eat it too. When sober, they bluff with the pot, but when drunk, they realize the pot is better!"
