Chapter 89: Chapter 89
Emery's POV
“Get a hold of yourself, Emery, this isn't the end of the world. Besides, he's not even your husband” Maria patted my back.
“It is the end of the world, Maria. Don't you get it? I've always dreamt of getting married to the master. Don't you know that I also want to be a mistress apart from a favorite slave?” I sniffed hard trying to stop myself from crying.
“How is that even possible when you have a rival, Emery? Have you forgotten that the Master in question has a soft spot for Madison? What makes you think he'd choose you over her?” Maria scoffed, and I glared hard at her furiously.
“Shut up Maria. What do you know? I'm the Master's favorite slave, and he even took me with him to the banquet. Isn't that enough reason for you to know that the master also has a soft spot for me?” I raised my brows.
“At the time he took you, I'm very certain that Madison wasn't in the castle, or was she?” Maria asked, and I gulped hard, turning my gaze away.
Just then, the memories flashed back to my head. I remembered vividly how the Master had taken a bullet for Madison, and I gritted my teeth in anguish.
“What's wrong with Maria? Even if the Master has a soft spot for Madison like you said, I'm still the one who is his favorite. Now that he's confirmed dead, what do you think will be of me? That wicked Lioness is going to start making me a slave again” I mumbled as tears circulated in my eyes.
“Aren't you a slave, Emery? Why do you keep talking like you're a princess?” Maria snorted, and I pushed her away roughly.
“Shut the f*** up, Maria. I keep wondering if you're my friend, or if you are the enemy that has been plotting against me. If I lose my place as the Master's favorite slave, bear in mind that you're going right down with me. You can no longer follow me around as my assistant, you'll go back to that field, and work your @ss out every damn day. Do you get that?” I yelled at her. She bowed her head with regrets written boldly on her face.
“I'm… I'm sorry, Emery. I just wanted to see you stop complaining. Besides, I have a feeling that the master is still alive, he can't die just like that, right?” Maria bit her lips and I exhaled deeply.
“Even if the Master survives, I still hope and wish that Madison is dead and gone for good because I don't know what I'd do to her if she comes back here alive” I fumed in annoyance.
“Let's just hope that the master is still alive, and Madison is not with him,” Maria shrugged.
“I just can't believe it. I can't… Stone has to be alive. He's mine, and I should be the Mistress of the Stone's castle” I continued sobbing.
Lady Delia's POV
Unusually, the castle was so quiet. Even the drop of a spoon could be heard all over the Castle. The castle was thrown into great sorrow and grief.
Once again, I would be going back to taking care of a child. I felt so bad for Zara. She sat up on the bed with her swollen eyes staring at me pitifully.
“Zara dear, I know you can hear me even if you don't speak. I just want to assure you that I will always be here for you baby” I patted her head, and she forced a smile at me.
“Mmm…” She hummed, and I raised my brows at her. She was trying to pass a message across to me.
“What is it, baby? Do you need anything? Is there something you want me to do?” I asked, staring at her.
She pointed at the iPad on the table, and I managed to smile at her. I gave her the iPad, and she wrote on it before showing me.
“Where's my Daddy and Aunt Madison? Is Madison not ever going to come back?” I read out loud, and tears made me break down.
“Do you… do you want to see them?” I asked. She nodded her head anxiously. Poor child! If only she knew that their funeral will be taking place in the next few minutes.
“Uhm… I'm sorry, Zara. You can't see them currently because they went out, and you don't have to worry, they'll be back soon” I lied, and she nodded her head.
“Lady Delia… it's time to pay our last respect” Axel walked into the room and said.
“Do I need to bring Zara? It's her father we're talking about” I lowered my voice to say that to him.
He nodded in agreement and helped me carry Zara. We headed out of the room and walked to the court. All the slaves in the castle, including the guards and servants, were all gathered there. A large picture of Stone was hung in front of them, with two candles lit beside the picture. Countless flowers were used to decorate the table where the candle was lit.
“To the soul of the brave Master Lucien Stone, we say….” I started with a teary voice.
“Rest in peace, Master Stone” They chorused.
“To the soul of our slave sister, Madison, we say….” I continued.
“Rest in peace, sister Madison” Everyone chorused again, and then people started crying. I turned to Zara, who stared at me bluntly.
Poor girl! She doesn't even know that we are acting like her father, whose body wasn't even found so that it will be laid to rest.
“Let the souls of the deceased ones keep resting in peace. Just know this Stone, I will always love you, no matter where you are or where you will be” I managed to speak because I was still able to control my emotions.
“What deceased are you talking about?" A voice came from the entrance, and everyone turned around.
