Chapter 87: Chapter 87

Lady Delia's POV

I covered Zara properly with the duvet, and kissed my cheek. For the first time in a few weeks, she actually fell asleep. Not like she has insomnia like her father, but I think this has to do with Madison's disappearance.

I stepped out of the room, and met Mona wailing helplessly on the ground.

"What's going on here? Axel, what happened?" I turned to Axel who was standing at the other end with his head bowed.

"Lady Delia, it's about the master and Madison" He sniffed, and I arched my eyebrows still confused.

"What do you mean by that? Didn't he go over to the valley for a wedding ceremony? Why then are you guys crying because of that?" I scoffed, and stared at Axel.

"He is nowhere to be found, and the same goes to Madison. They were together in the ship that exploded" He sighed, and I gasped in shock.

"This has to be a joke Axel, and you know very well that you shouldn't joke around things like this. Are you trying to tell me that Stone is dead?" I held my chest trying to get a hold of myself.

"No one is sure about that, but it's quite unfortunate that his body and that of Madison is nowhere to be found" He broke the news, and I felt like my head was spinning.

I turned around to look at the room when the little Zara was lying in, and sleeping peacefully.

"This can't be. Stone and his late wife can't just leave their daughter to me. How will I be able to mend her broken heart? Madison who she became fond of also went missing? Is this a curse?" I thought, and staggered a bit, but Axel held my wrist.

"You have to rest your nerves' lady Delia. I'm sure they'll be found" He held me tight. Tears circulated in my eyes, and gradually poured down my face.

"I didn't want to tell you this because I knew you'd do something like this. Get a hold of yourself, Lady Delia. I'm sure they will be found" He said, and I stared mutely at him.

Lucien is more like a son to me, and announcing his disappearance made my heart bleed. He has always been a strong man which got him the name "Stone". He has no feelings and emotions, and you won't blame him, because he's been through a lot. Even as a child, he never really got motherly care. He wasn't raised with love because his mother left his father when he was just 2 months old. That was when I was hired to work in the Smith's castle as Lucien's nanny.

I took care of him from then on, and he grew practically in my watch. I was a mother to him, and he became the son that I never had… a lovable kid until the cruelness of the world made him emotionless.

Axel led me to my room, and helped me sit on the bed. He handed a glass of water to me, and I managed to gulp it down.

"You must do everything and anything, Axel. There is no way Lucien can die. Who will take over the Castle if he dies? He can't go missing… He must be found. I have a feeling that he is fine anywhere he is, you have to find him and Madison. Can I… can I count on you?" I asked with tears in the tone of my voice.

"I promise you Lady Delia, I won't rest until they are found" He smiled a little even though I could see sadness in his eyes.

Xavier's POV

"I told you this in the first place Xavier, I told you to stop that f****** wedding because there was no way it would push through, but you refused because you were obsessed with that slave" Derek shouted on top of his voice as I sat on the bed looking very weak with my eyes swollen.

"Now, Stone and your so-called wife are nowhere to be found. Is this the best that you want? What joy are you deriving from the recent happenings?" Karl continued, and I kept staring at them without saying a word.

I never wanted this. I just wanted to be happy with Madison since she's the only one who made me happy. If anyone had told me things would end up this way then I would have doubted the person.

"What do we do now? It seems they both really died in the explosion because the book and crannies of the ocean have been thoroughly searched" Derek said, and I flared up.

"Don't you dare say that Derek. There is no way both of them are dead, I know Stone too well, he can't be dead just because of a mere explosion" I snapped at him, and he scoffed.

"If that's not the case then what is? That stupid Tara already escaped with her father. But she got shot in the arm, and I hope she'll have her arm amputated. She deserves even worse, and this is all because of the obsession she has for you. You know you should have stuck to that desperate lady instead of having Stone and Madison killed" Karl replied.

"I don't want to believe what you both are saying. I have a feeling that they are both alive, please you just need to find them and make sure that they are okay, if not I'll leave the rest of my life in regret" I sobbed.

"What more do you want us to do? We've done everything that we know of and yet there is no sign of both of them. I hope you are satisfied now? You've gotten what you wanted. I warned you against this marriage, but you refused to listen" Derek snorted before walking out of the room. Karl left with him, and I fell back on the bed sobbing helplessly. They are correct. This is all my fault, right?
