Tara's POV

My jaw dropped in shock the moment I saw Stone whose chest was bleeding. He took the bullet for this slave? But why?

"Stone?" I called out, and rushed to kneel beside him. I was so shocked. Is he related to the slave girl? No f****** way! He can't be related to her.

"You slut! How dare you? How dare you do this to Stone?" Xavier slapped my cheek hard, and I stared at him with widened eyes.

"You slapped me, Xavier?" I freaked out, and he pushed me roughly. I landed my back on the car, and groaned in pains.

"When will you stop being so toxic, Tara? Are you not tired of this deceitful relationship we are keeping? Have you not seen that I don't have any feelings for you? You better pray hard. Pray hard that nothing happens to Stone" Xavier rushed to the stupid slave, and helped her into the car.

"Mad... Madison! How is she? Is she... Is she okay?" Stone who was still groaning in pains still worried about the slave.

"Stop talking Stone. You just have to go with me to the herbalist as soon as possible. You're already losing so much blood" Xavier helped him up, and they walked towards the car.

"You... Tara, I'll still... I'll still come back for you" Stone glared at me even if he was losing so much blood. His words alone brought so much fear to me.

I exhaled deeply as Xavier drove off with the slave, and the wounded stone. I turned to my handmaid who shook her head sadly.

"Mia, do you think he meant what he just said? Is Stone really going to come after me?" I turned to Mia my handmaid. I just needed someone to calm me down.

"You know how dreadful Stone can be, ma'am? I just hope he doesn't mean his statement" Mia gulped hard, and I grabbed her by her neck. She coughed helplessly, but I still held her tight.

"Will you keep quiet? I just asked you a question, and you're still questioning me? You fool! Didn't you see Xavier slap me earlier? What did you do about it? All you could do was standing there and moping like an idiot that you are" I yelled at her even though I didn't know why I was blaming her.

"I'm sorry ma'am. What would I have done? I can't possibly do anything to Master Xavier. I would have punched him on the nose, and kick his scrotum for slapping my mistress's cheek, but I can't do anything" Mia struggled until I pushed her roughly.

Furthermore, I gritted my teeth as I thought of Xavier slapping me because of that slave. Had he really fallen in love with the slave? I've done everything just so he'll fall in love with me, but he still didn't. Why would he fall for a slave?

He even slapped me because of her, and Stone also threatened me just because of a slave. I have to find out what about that slave they find so special. Nothing will stop me from getting rid of that obstacle.

Xavier's POV

Stone gradually opened his eyes with his hand still on his chest as he groaned helplessly. The pains he was feeling was so excruciating that he could hardly speak. He was shot directly on his chest.

"Xavier... Where... Where is Madison?" He still struggled to speak, and I scoffed.

"Should you even worry about that? Stone, you should be worried about yourself. You're slowly dying, and you still ask about Madison? She's fine, and her stabbed arm has been bandaged. She's still unconscious though in Ward 105" I said, and he shook his head.

"Take me there... Please take me to her. I want to see... I want to..." Stone was still speaking when he lost consciousness.

He was taken away straight to the emergency room while I waited for him at the lobby. Tara have definitely bitten more than she can chew.

The fact that she just shot Stone is bad enough for her because he'll never let her go free.

My cell phone rang aloud, and I quickly picked it up. It was a call from Derek.

"Hey, Xavier! Where the f*** are you both? The banquet is already over, and we've been waiting outside for a long time" He asked anxiously, and I heaved a sigh.

"Something terrible happened" I started, and they gasped.

"Something terrible? What do you mean by that?" They chorused, and I shook my head sadly before speaking up.

"It's Stone... He was shot. Tara wanted to shoot Madison, but she shot Stone instead of her. Stone took a bullet for Madison" I explained.

"WHAT?" They freaked out.

Stone's POV

I gradually opened my eyes. My vision was in blurry, but I still figured out that I was at the hospital. I tried to get up from the bed, but the pains I felt on the chest part was driving me crazy.

My heart was beating fast, and I felt like something was really missing. I managed to get up from the bed with the last strength inside me.

Taking out the needles and cannula fixed to my fists, I struggled up from the bed. I held my chest that was hurting so badly before hitting the door.

"Madison..." Was all I could say as I staggered out of the ward. I was still in pains, but that didn't stop me.

I could remember vividly the ward Xavier told me that Madison was at. Ward 105... I headed there, and tried not to attract other people attention.

Grabbing the doorknob, I opened the door, and got into the ward. Madison was still unconscious, but I didn't mind.

"Madison... Mad... Madison" I called her, my head was spinning. I still managed to walk closer to the bed as slowly as ever.

Suddenly, her eyes flung open. She sighted me, and gasped in shock. I stretched forth my hands to touch her, but I felt dizzier the more. I passed out.....
