Chapter 64: Chapter 64
Xavier's POV:
The guards carried the unconscious slave into the room, and laid her on the bed. I stood in front of the bed, and signalled them to leave so that I could be alone with her.
The herbalists had already cleaned her wounds, and applied some medicines on the sores all over her body.
Mere looking at her, I could tell she's so exhausted. Taking her away from Stone was the best decision that I've ever taken, but what if he wants her back, will I still be able to give her back to Stone?
I was still engrossed in my thoughts when a servant walked into the room with a glass of herb.
"Master, the herbalists wants her to take this tonight. May I get your permission to feed her this herb?" The servant bowed slightly.
"What are you waiting for? Go ahead and feed her that" I turned my gaze away, and she nodded.
She sat on a low stool in front of the bed where the slave was lying unconsciously. She opened her mouth, and with the help of a spoon, spooned the liquid into her mouth.
"I hope she wakes up by tomorrow. Her body is full of sores" I thought before walking out of the room.
"Xavier, what do you plan to do with the slave?" I need no one to tell me that it was Derek who was walking right behind me.
"You didn't tell me you'd be coming to my chambers tonight" I started, and I could hear him snort loudly.
"Do I need to tell you before paying you a visit? Anyway, I just heard that you brought Stone's slave to the valleys" He continued, and I exhaled deeply.
"I'm sure that has nothing to do with you. Why are you so concerned about it? I brought him into my Chambers, and not yours. Do I really owe you any explanations?" I scoffed at him.
"Come on Xavier, I know you must have reasons for bringing her into your chambers. I also heard that Stone refuse to sell her to you, why are you desperately in need of this slave? You have so many slaves, and you also have a fiancée" Derek shook his head, and I halted immediately. I turned my gaze to him with blaring eyes.
"How dare you question my actions? If you must know, I think I have feelings for the slave" I snapped, and he gasped in shock.
"What about Tara? What are you going to do with Tara? Are you going to cut ties with her? Are you sure that you're aware of what you're doing? Have you forgotten whose daughter Tara is?" Derek freaked out, and I sneered at him.
"You and I know that I never had feelings for Tara. She was the one who threw herself at me. Why should I worry how she feels when I've found someone who I'm very comfortable with?" I yelled banging my fist on the wooden table in front of me.
"Look Xavier, I know you don't like Tara. But she's the only daughter and treasure of the syndicate Lord Xeus. Are you sure you're ready to compete with Xeus?" Derek lowered his voice to speak.
"I plan on telling his daughter that I don't want to go on with the wedding arrangement with her, I mean I still don't feel anything for her. I've been trying for a long time to grow feelings for her, but all this while, I still don't feel connected to her" I replied with a voice filled with distress.
"Do you need to love Tara before you marry her? I'm not scared for you Xavier, I'm always scared for the slave who you are dragging into this mess. If you really love the slave like you claim, you won't get her into the trouble you're about to get her into" Derek warned, and I rolled my eyes.
"What trouble? I'm very capable of protecting her, and I don't mind doing that as far as I have her. As for Tara, I can handle her. I'll simply tell the truth, I will let her know that I don't have any feelings for her" I said with so much determination.
"This is the third year Xavier, third year since you started dating Tara officially, and you want her to let go of you so easily. You better get a rethink Xavier, I just hope you know what you're doing" Derek scoffed before walking out of the room, and I exhaled deeply.
My mind is already made up, there's nothing anyone can say to make me change my mind or decide to marry Tara.
Madison's POV
The sub rays directly to my closed eyes, and I slowly opened my eyes with a yawn of tiredness.
My whole body was aching me so badly, and I felt like I was being beaten up.
I gradually opened my eyes, and to my greatest surprise I saw myself in an unknown place. The room was well furnished, and the scent I got from the room was quite refreshing.
"This can't be Stone's castle. There's no way I'll be kept in such a room. Only Emery has this kind of room" I mumbled, and tried sitting up, but I couldn't.
The pain I felt each time I wanted to sit up was excruciating. Some part of my body was swollen.
"How did I get this wounds?" I thought, and immediately tears circulated in my eyes, and rolled down my cheeks the moment all the memories flushed back into my head.
I remembered vividly how they were throwing stones at me for a crime that I never committed. Is this how difficult it is to be a slave? I'm not even allowed to tell them I didn't commit a crime.
"But where am I? Is this a dream?" I asked no one in particular, and pinched my cheek. It was painful, so it's definitely not a dream.
Just then, the door threw up, and two servant girls walked in. One of them was with a food trolley, and the other freshly squeezed orange juice. The aroma filled the whole room.
Where the f*** am I?
