Chapter 63: Chapter 63

Xavier's POV

I got down from the horse, and walked majestically closer to Stone who glared hard at me like he just saw his enemy.

"How are you doing, cousin?" I forced a smile at him, and he rolled his eyes.

"I should be asking you what you are doing here Xavier? What are you doing here uninvited?" Lucien furrowed his eyebrows, and I smirked.

"I got your message, but I didn't want to believe it. I mean, she's just a slave and there's no way you would refuse selling her to me, right?" I replied, and turned my gaze to the unconscious slave.

To my greatest surprise, it turned out to be the same slave who I wanted Lucien to sell to me.

"What is the meaning of this, Stone? Why do you want to kill the slave whom I told you I'd like to buy from you?" I arched my eyebrows, and he exhaled deeply.

"She's mine, and whatever I do with her, it's none of your business. You're not allowed to interfere here because you have no right to" Lucien growled at me.

"Are you planning to kill her? If you really want to discard her, why don't you just sell her to me right now? It would even be simpler for you because you'll get money in return" I convinced him, and he shot me a deadly glare.

"Why should I do that? Selling her to you is something that I'd never wanted to do. Why should I listen your suggestion?" Stone yelled at me, and I smiled softly.

"If you don't want to sell her to me, then why don't you just hand her over to me? Let me be the one to punish her severely for whatever crime she must have committed" I turned to Stone.

Axel walked closer to Stone and whispered inaudible words into his ear.

Stone turned to me clearing his throat noisily.

"She's a thief. She stole the most precious treasure that I have. The only treasure that keeps me going, so I don't think you'll be capable of giving her the punishment she deserves. As a matter of fact, she doesn't deserve to be alive because I already made the decree" He exhaled again.

"You don't trust me, Stone? I can give her even the worst punishment that she'll even pray for death" I snapped at him, and he waved his left hand.

"I lift my decree on death on her. Hand the slave over to Xavier. She'll be at the valleys with Xavier getting the punishments that she deserves for stealing from the treasury" He ordered, and the others bowed their heads.

He shot me a glare again before walking back into the Castle. Smiles escaped my lips, and I signalled my guards to carry the wounded slave into the cart.

"Is she still breathing?" I asked with my eyebrows raised. They nodded in agreement. I got onto the horse, and rode off.

Lucien's POV

"You did what? I can't believe you Lucien?" Lady Delia yelled on top of her voice, and I backed her staring into the darkness of the chamber.

"Why are you siding with her again, lady Delia? Can't you see the crime that she had committed? Even before I knew it was her, I already made a decree that whoever it was would be stoned to death, and the body will be burnt to ashes. You know that I hardly take back my words, and even if I tried to vindicate I still had to condemn her" I replied without even looking at her. It would be worst if I look into her face.

"I'm totally disappointed in you, Lucien. You made this judgement without even thinking of your daughter? Have you forgotten that she's the same lady who made Zara to speak again after so long?" Lady Delia lamented.

"What has she done to deserve the kind of treatment you're giving her? How sure are you that she's the one who actually stole the treasure? I know that you loved your late wife so much Stone, but she's gone now. You have your daughter to make her go back to the way she used to, and this is the only lady who Zara has ever opened to. How do you think Rani will feel to know that the only hope of your daughter getting better has been thrown far away?" Lady Delia continued, and I growled in annoyance.

"Stop! Stop Lady Delia. I don't want you to say a word about Rani again. I won't take things easy with you if you keep mentioning her name" I flared up, and lady Delia stared at me in shock.

This is the first time that I've ever spoken back at her. That could be the reason why she was stunned. For the first time in my life, I regretted an action I took. I regretted everything that was done to the slave.

"You shut up Lucien Smith. I don't want to hear you say a word. How dare you speak to me in that manner? Have you gone nuts? Have you forgotten so easily the hand that fed you? Don't you dare in your entire life raise your voice at me again, and you better do anything, and everything it takes to bring back Madison. There's no prove that she's the thief" Lady Delia grabbed my neck, and I shut my eyes trying hard to control myself.

"Zara's life is at stake. If you really love your daughter and want the best for her, you better bring Madison back. The earlier you bring her back, the better for you. Get that into your fixed skull" Lady Delia grumbled, and let go of me forcefully before storming out of my chambers. I fumed in anger.

Lady Delia is the only one who can speak to me in that manner without me trying to punish her.

"What didn't I think of Zara when making this rash decision that I so much regret? I'm sorry Rani" I fell on my knees....
