Chapter 44: Chapter 44

Jason

Today is the day for the battle between Alexander and me, everything is all set to work in my favor.

Derrick has helped with all that I would need to ensure I successfully kill Alexander out there.

With just a few hours to the combat, I am doing the finishing touches on all our arrangements.

All that is left is to ensure that Ashley is seated at the field beautifully dressed in a set of costumes that Derrick brought for her.

The costume is a beautiful flowing yellow gown with beautiful embroidery and trimmings.

It is a dress befitting for a queen.

The costume is serving two purposes, one wish is to make Ashley look very beautiful to Alexander so he would think she is completely happy without him.

This is in other to throw him off his game, so I can easily defeat him.

Another purpose of the gown according to Derrick is that when worn properly, she won't be able to hear audibly whatever is been said distance away from her.

This is also to ensure that she doesn't get to hear Alexander's voice during the combat.

We had earlier taken take of Alexander's side by ensuring that he would be wearing a face mask so Ashley won't know he is the one.

Though her both hands would be free, her legs would be chained in a way that no one would notice it. As a way of restraining her from running away.

“I was asked to give you this, alpha,” one of Derrick's guards who had just walked into my sitting room said, as he presented me with a clean-cut shining silver sword.

I twitched a bit before taking the sword from the guard while I examined it with total awe.

It was so beautiful and very light, it's almost impossible to think that a sword as beautiful as this could be poisonous.

It's very different from my sword, while my sword is very heavy but handy, this one is as light as a piece of paper.

When I suggested that I use my sword, Derrick kicked against it saying since it is going to be poisoned, getting a different sword would be perfect.

I was completely smitten by the beauty of a sword that I didn't know when Derrick walked in.

“You should be careful with that, the tiniest piercing from the sword you are holding is enough to kill any man, no matter how strong or mighty he may be,” he said boastfully as he walked into the sitting room.

“It's beautiful,” I said, still examining the sword.

“Death is a beautiful thing,” he said and paused to look at the sword with me.

I can't help but notice the safe distance he is staying away from me and the sword.

I can understand him, if indeed this sword is as deadly as he claims, it's better it kept out of reach of anyone.

The mere fact that I will be handling the sword to fight makes me feel very proud of myself, even though there is still this big part of me that wishes I had practiced with a similar sword

before today.

I can already imagine Alexander gagging or spitting out blood as a result of poison from this sword.

After this fight, I will be keeping this sword as my trophy for defeating the great Alexander and taking his mate.

An evil smile crept up my side lips as the thought of how highly revered and feared I will be by the end of the end.

I could almost taste my victory.

But, despite all that Derrick has done or is doing, I can't help but become suspicious of his intentions.

I know he would want to contest the alpha king position with me after Alexander's death and that is why I have instructed some of my men to be on guard to disarm and kill him after I win the combat with Alexander.

“Excuse me,” I said, as I walked out of the sitting room, and headed straight to my room to hang the sword alongside my other ones in my room.

I came out almost the same time to see Derrick talking with one of my Omega, she look disoriented and scared.

I recognize this particular Omega because she is one of the people in charge of Ashley's baby.

My first thought is that they had arrived for the combat because I had earlier agreed with Ashley that she would see her son before the combat.

To that effect, I told them to bring the baby to the pack.

I was expecting to see a whole bunch of them, which comprises four women, three guards, and two young girls of which she is one of them.

I was going to assume that the others are waiting outside while they sent her in.

But when the Omega starts fidgeting and crying as soon as she sees me, I began to wonder why as I move closer to her.

“Where is the baby?” I asked sternly as I got closer to her.

My question or the tune of my voice made her fall to her knees in fear.

“We were attacked on our way here,  everyone was killed, I was spared to come and tell you what happened,” she spurted out as a stream of tears flowed freely from her eyes.

The news came as a shock to me, why would anyone want to attack them? Only a handful of people knew their location.

Is it possible that Alexander had found out that he has a child with Ashley? But who would have told him the location of the baby, I and a handful of my guards were the only ones that knew that location.

So many thoughts were running through my mind.

“What about the baby?” I asked as I looked at her disgustingly and furiously.

Imagine how great it would feel to have my hand around her neck and squeeze it so hard till she stops breathing.

I fucking hate Omegas, they are all bunch of incompetent fools, the only good thing about them is seeing them gag hard on my cock.

“The baby was kidnapped,” she said wailing.

I angrily moved toward her to end her miserable life, but Derrick's voice stopped me in my tracks.

“Jason, don't kill the messenger, kill the person who sent the message. I'm sure you already know who that is?” He said.

His voice reminded me of his presence, as the possible thought of him sending people to attack the entourage and kidnap the baby flashed through my mind, but I was quick to brush the thought aside.

“That is my exact point of anger, how would he know that he has a son, If one of them had not told him,” I said to Derrick angrily while giving him a suspicious look.

“You underestimate Alexander, he is smart, and for you to defeat him, you have to be smarter,” he said.

I was furious as hell but was doing everything within me not to lose sight of the fight ahead. Now is not the time to cry over spilled milk, now is time to salvage what I can.

“Get out,” I barked at the stupid omega and she ran out as fast as her legs could carry her.

“How do I convince Ashley to go out there, without first showing her the baby,” I questioned not particularly directing my question to Derrick, and he responded anyway.

“You are the only one that knows that the baby has been kidnapped, use that information to your advantage,” he said, walking out of the sitting room.

“I need to see my baby first” ashley insisted after I told her to get prepared for the combat.

I have been trying to convince her that her son is okay and that she would see him in the field, but she is having none of it.

This would have been a lot easier if those incompetent fools did their job of just looking after the baby and ensuring the baby was safe.

“Ashley, I know you don't like me much, but do you think I would ever harm your baby,” I asked her as a way of physiologically putting her mind at rest.

When in reality, I plan to get rid of the little bastard as soon as she gets pregnant with my baby.

Don't blame me I can't have a bastard succeed me on the throne, my son should be sitting on the alpha king's throne after my death, not Alexander's bastard.

“Well, I hope for your sake and all that you hold dear, that my baby is safe and that I will see him out there in the field, else you can start to kiss everything you hold dear, goodbye,” she sneered at me angrily.

Even though everything has been well thought out by Derrick, I still need Ashley on my side to ensure that she has my back should in case anything goes wrong.

If she gets the slightest idea that her baby is missing, she would be furious.

I have to arrange for another baby within that age range fast, to deceive her into thinking it's her baby, all I have to do is make sure she sees Oliver seated with the baby.

“I told you the baby is fine, they are on their way here, just get ready and you will see the baby in the field," I said calmly to her.

“Well till then, I am not wearing any of these stupid costumes you brought here,” she said stubbornly and I knew if I continued to play it cool with her, she would think herself too powerful or important.

So I picked my next set of words carefully and thoughtfully with the main aim of bricking her motherly heart.

Ashley, you dont seem to understand that I am the one doing you a great favor here, I can as well order my men to kill that baby of yours this very moment,” I said and noticed how easily her countenance softened in fear.

“Don't test me, Ashley, if there is nothing you have learned about me, you know that I am very ambitious and would do whatever it takes to get what I want. The servants would be here to clean you up, be ready and beautifully when next I see you” I said, walking out on her before she had the opportunity of talking back at me again.
