Ashley

I noticed my head was spinning as soon as I tried opening my eyelids from sleep in the morning.

The morning sun hit me hard in my eyes as I opened them that I had to use my hand to shield my eyes from the blazing sun.

Another thing I noticed was that I was lying down on the floor instead of the bed I had been sleeping in since I moved into Jason's pack three months ago.

A small groan escaped my lips when I tried standing up to check on my two months old baby Andre, and Oliver.

But I noticed as soon as I tried standing up, my eyes were spinning me as if all the things in the room were moving in circles.

What happened to me, I can't seem to remember what happened the previous night as nothing was making sense to me at the moment.

The last thing I remember was when I asked one of the servants to get me a glass of juice which I took before going to my room.

Every other thing that happened after that seem blurry.

I checked the baby crib to find that Andre was not in there and Oliver was nowhere in the room, I panicked as I tried staggering to the door.

But before I could reach the door, the door opened and Jason walked in with both hands in his jeans pocket, accompanied by two of his guards.

“You should sit down,” he said in a cold and authoritative voice.

“Where is my son, where is Oliver?” I asked in my drunken state.

“They are both fine,” he said before beckoning to the guard to bring me a glass of what I presumed to be water.

“You should drink that if you want to feel stable,” he said with a carefree attitude.

“What did you do to me, where is my son?” I screamed at him as I could feel my powers threatening to take over my emotions.

“I told you they are fine, now drink up so we can get down to business,” he said, walking over to the chair by the mirror to sit down.

I drank whatever it was that was on the cup and a few moments later I was feeling better.

“Did you drug me?” I asked casting a wicked glance at him. While taking steady breaths to calm me

“Yes I did”

“Why, what have you done to Oliver and Andre,” I asked him in anger as the heavy wind starts blowing through the room, blowing up papers and weightless things in its path.

The guards looked terrified as they quickly held on to something to support themselves.

“Ashley you need to stop this if you ever want to see your children again,” he said in a controlled panic.

“Where are they?” I screamed back at him.

“They are not here, they are not anywhere close to the pack, but they are safe, so please stop this now!” he said, and somehow I believed him.

I closed my eyes to try to calm the raging storm inside of me, and as soon as my eyes were shut, I heard the guards make move to restrain me, but he stopped them.

“What do you want?” I asked him as soon as I opened my eyes.

“We are going for an invasion and we need your assistance,”

Somehow what he said made me laugh, and that is because he has been hitting on me going to fight their senseless battle with them since I first moved here.

“I am not a warrior, I am not trained for battles,” I said to him

“But you are stronger than a hundred men put together, with you by our side victory is sure, I'm not forcing you. Please do this for me, for my pack”

“Which pack are you fighting with this time,” I asked him and I saw him hesitate a bit before answering me.

“The bad moon pack,” he said calmly.

“Are you mad, you are asking me to go and fight against my pack,”

“Ashley, stop your delusions, you do not belong to any pack, maybe you did when Alexander was alive, but with him gone, you mean nothing to those people. To them, you are going to always be that wolfless slave girl, but here in my pack, you can have a new identity,” he said, even though there was a tiny bit of sense in what he said, it still felt wrong.

Alexander loved that pack, he was even willing to do anything to save the pack.

“I can't do it,” I said turning away from him.

“It seems to me that you do not know what is happening in the pack you claim to love, Derrick is overtaxing the pack members and killing anyone who does not agree with his terms,”

“Oh please as if you care,”

“Yes, you are right, I may have my selfish reasons but you know I will be a better alpha king than Derrick would ever be,” he said standing up from the chair he was sitting on.

“So you going on this battle because you want to become the alpha king,”

“With Alexander gone, the pack is vulnerable. And since it serves as the headquarters of all the packs, everyone would want a shot at getting it. Without you, I wouldn't dare take on the pack, but with you, I can not only take over but also expand our territory,”

“And what happens after this battle, there is going to be another after another,”

“But why do you think you were given these powers, if not to defend the helpless? You are the reason we are going to this battle in the first place” he said and his words caught my attention.

I looked at him as if trying to tell him to repeat what he just said.

“Yes, you are the reason, I was sent three months ago by your late husband's uncle to kill you, but I couldn't because I loved you from the very first day I set my eyes on you,” he said, and that got me angry.

I was not surprised that derrick would send someone after me, I was expecting him to.

But I was fucking tired of Jason's continuous proclamation of his undying affection for me when in reality he only wants to exploit me for his good.

This bastard was making passes at me as soon as I entered this pack, not minding the fact that I was heavily pregnant.

“would you love me if I had no powers? You have no idea of what love is, you are just trying to manipulate your way into my heart,” I said to him squarely in the face.

“No Ashley, I love you and you know it,”

“oh really, but you knew my husband, why were you then pretending not to have known me the first time we met?”

“Because I was giving you time to forget him, forget about the past and build a new beginning with me,” he said pleadingly

“And you think three months is enough time? Do you think three months is fucking enough to forget the man who made me realize I am a woman, capable of being loved? who loved me when he had no reason to and stood by me when everyone was against him?” I said in a rant.

“But guess what, he is fucking dead now,  you have to move on,” he snorted back at me.

His words were like a sword in my heart, it was so hurtful that it makes me want to cry but not today, I am not going to that girl anymore.

Words can't break me.

“I decide to do what I feel it's best for me and my children, you do not such right,” I said to him turning my back against him.

“No problem, I am not  going to force you to love me, I know what I will do when the time Is right,”

“Are you threatening me?”

“No, Ashley, how can I threaten you, you are under my roof and you do not know where your baby and Oliver are at the moment, I am the only one capable of giving your future. Be a good mother, and make your choices wisely,” he said.

“I don't love you,” I said to him.

“I can live with that, but can you live without your child and Oliver, will you ever forgive yourself should anything happen to them, because it would be on you. Look we don't have to fight over irrelevant things, you know I love your son and Oliver, just agree to marry me, and together we can build a strong army”

There, he said it without even realizing it, he doesn't love me, he only wants me because of my powers

“And if I refuse?” I asked him calmly.

“Then I am sorry,” he said before walking out of the room.

I was furious as hell, I knew I was foolish to have accepted his offer that easily without knowing much about him, I honestly had no choice.

I was tired of living alone in the woods, of always being on guard and not sure when someone or people would attack us.

I know what he is asking me to do is not so difficult, after all, I was given these gifts for a reason.

Only if I had mastered them before now, perhaps my Alexander would still be alive now and I won't be worried about the safety of my son and Oliver.

And I am not going to lie, other than Jason's annoying love proclamation, he has been very kind to me and the children.

And since Derrick took Alexander from me, what will I not give to see him burn?
