Chapter 76: Chapter 76
The rest remained quiet and unmoving while the man in the middle nodded, "Yes, we are the wolves that attacked you and teleported to leave. We do have to say sorry for the attack because we didn't mean for things to happen that way."
"Then what did you mean to happen exactly when you're the ones that attacked us?" Jake asked as he stared at the man, fiercely.
I nodded in agreement to Jake, and the man looked amused. "We wanted to stop you two from completing your mating process so that we can see if Max could be paired with a stronger Alpha male. But now, we can see that Jake has the strongest Alpha blood among all the werewolf Alphas even though he is newly turned. And that makes him the most suitable mate for you, Max."
A look of disbelief settled on my face together with shock and disgust, "You wanted to choose who I could live with for the rest of my life? Who gave you that right? It is not your place to decide, especially when Jake has already been chosen as my mate."
The man looked calm as he replied, "Yes, it is not my place, but I was looking out for our werewolf species. We need stronger werewolves in order to fight other creatures, especially vampires."
Jake scoffed as he said, "It still doesn't give you the right to decide her faith or mine."
The man looked from me to Jake, noticing how angry we both were. He sighed, "I know, I don't have the right to do that, and I apologize for that. I hope that you can forgive us because we can now see that you two are the best pairs and that makes us want an alliance with you."
"An alliance? What's in it for you?" I asked as I watched them, carefully. Jake also watched them cautiously, still looking tense and ready to fight if need be.
The man nodded as his eyes moved between the two of us, "As you already know, you, Max have an ability to bring power to those around you, and especially to the one that mates you. So if you join our pack, you will bring power to us, and you will both be protected from other creatures that might try to harm you."
Jake folded his arms across his chest as he said, "We don't need to be in your pack or even want to be in it. We have our own pack, and I'm the Alpha male while Max is my Luna and Alpha female."
I nodded as I stepped closer to Jake, and the man looked amused again as he replied, "We know about all that, and that is why we want your pack to join with ours."
I blinked slowly at them in surprise as I asked, "And your pack is?"
"I apologize for not introducing myself first. I am Alpha Young of the Stoneway pack and the one on the right is my Beta, Conan and on the left in my Gamma, Ryan."
Jake and I glanced at the other two as he introduced them before moving our gaze back to Alpha young, and Jake said, "Well, nice to meet you all, but we have no interest in joining your pack."
"You should at least give us a chance. Come over to our pack and see how we run things then you decide whether you want to partner with us or not." Alpha Young said as he looked at us with pleading eyes.
I looked at Jake as I tried to think of what we should do. As he sensed my gaze on him, he turned his head towards me and his expression softened as he looked at me. He must have understood that I was trying to ask him what we should do with my eyes since I wasn't exactly sure at the moment because he shook his head.
"You two will have control over your own pack and mine as well me and my mate. The four of us can rule both packs joined as one, so we will be two Alpha male and Alpha female." Alpha Young said, bringing our gaze back to him when he saw Jake shaking his head at me.
"That sounds tempting, but we still need time to process all this." Jake said as he looked less tense and threatened.
"Yeah, we will think about it and get back to you." I added, firmly since that was what I have been thinking of before Jake even said it.
A look of relief passed over his face and his lips lifted up into a smile. He placed his hand into his pocket and brought out a card then stretched it out towards us, "That is good, here is my card. Give me a call whenever you are ready to give me your answer."
Jake took the card from his hand and looked at it. I also glanced at it to see that it was a business card of a popular computer engineering company, Young Enterprise. His number was there with the title of CEO and owner at the top then his name. I felt shocked that he was the owner of such a great company, especially since he was a werewolf.
I never thought that werewolves even worked from all the fantasy novels and movies I've seen. But here it was. Surprise also showed on Jake's face as he looked back at Alpha Young, "Alright, we will get back to you."
"Okay." I replied, and he moved his gaze to me as his lips stretched into a large smile.
He then looked at Jake and I as he said, "Good bye, Max and Jake. Until we meet again, hopefully, soon."
"Until then." I replied as Jake said, "We're hoping for the best."
He nodded and his Beta and Gamma also nodded at us before they turned around to walk away. We watched them as they walked to a sleek Limousine and got into the back. The car soon took off, and I turned to Jake to see him looking at me. "What are you thinking of, baby doll?"
