Chapter 73: Chapter 73

I rolled my eyes at Poppy's dumbness, but I was glad for her enthusiasm. Abbey looked at me with worried eyes, but still didn't say anything. I opened the card and read its content aloud.

"To All The Cool Students, you are invited to Jake and Max's party! Yes, the school's hottest couple and it's gonna be awesome! This is an invite only party and this means that you're special!"

I groaned as I glared at Abbey, "Ugh! What? How can you get an invite and be referred to as cool while I don't?"

"Yeah, and why is Abbey the only one that is invited?" Poppy asked with a small frown on her face.

She shook her head, "I don't know why too."

"Well, are you going to go?" Cindy asked and we all stared at Abbey waiting for her response. She looked over at all of our faces before her gaze finally landed on me.

Max's POV

After our heated makeout session, Jake and I climbed on our motorcycles and rode them to school. We were now in class with all of our friends. The teacher wasn't there yet, surprisingly and everyone in class were chatting with their friends.

We were doing the same as Jake and sat on our desks while the rest sat on the seats surrounding us. Sean was sitting beside Shane and Jane then Mike was beside him and Alex before Drake. We were talking about our party that was happening that weekend and so was the whole school. Everyone was invited except for Stephanie, Cindy, Poppy, Cassie and Kane's group. Even the geeks and uncool kids.

We wanted everyone that wants to come to come and just have fun. No restrictions, just pure high school teen partying. Everyone seemed to be hyped up about it. I was too. When I was in Kane's gang, we hosted parties too, but I never really enjoyed them because of the way they all treated me.

This party was going to be different and better. We also wanted to invite Tanner, but that would bring suspicion from Kane, but we told him through text to drop by if he wanted to.

Jane then glanced at us as she said, "The snacks and food of the party will be ready on Friday afternoon. I'll go over to the bakery and to take them and bring them over before the party starts at night."

"Yeah, that sounds neat." Jake said and I nodded then added, "Jake and I will be in charge of hiding the expensive items on Friday."

"Okay." They all replied, and Sean grinned as he said, "I wonder how Abbey will react when she sees the invite in her locker." His grin then dropped as a worried look showed on his face, "I hope she comes to the party."

Mike raised a brow at him in question, "Dude, everyone wants to come to our party. She would have to be delusional to not want to come."

"Yeah, unless Stephanie stops her." I muttered as I knew how much control she had over her.

I wondered why she let her control her when she had so much more going on for her. She was smart, beautiful and nice if not with Stephanie, yet she did all of her dirty work. Did she know a secret of hers or something and was holding it over her head?

"Yep, if that happens then your chance to woe her is pretty much gone." Shane said to Sean, and we all nodded.

"But don't worry, Sean. I have a plan that will guarantee her coming to the party in case Stephanie tries to stop her." Jake said as he patted Sean on the shoulder who was still looking very worried.

He looked at Jake and smiled, "Thanks, man."

"Can we get an invite too?" Kane's voice came as he and his two group of friends walked into the class, including Tanner.

The eight of us along with most of the class turned to Kane and his group. Kane was looking directly at Jake when he asked the question. He knew the answer was no, but still asked. He must be looking for trouble, but then he didn't even spare me a glance which meant that he was staying away from me like Jake told him to.

Jake looked at him with a hard stare, "Why are you even asking when you know that you're not invited."

Kane shrugged, "Fine, you won't be invited to any of our parties anyway."

"We're not friends, Kane. We're far from it, so don't act like we are." He stated in a tight tone to show how far from friends they were.

Kane smirked as his gaze moved to me then back to Jake, "Oh, I know, Jake. None of you are friends of mine, we are enemies and don't you forget that."

"We will never forget that." I said, quietly in a hard voice.

Kane glanced at me without saying anything then turned around and walked to the right side of the class to sit down with his buddies. Tanner glanced at us with an apologetic look as he sat down behind Kane while the other guy sat down to his left.

The rest of the class turned back to their friends and continued what they were doing after watching our exchange. They probably thought that there was going to be some kind of drama. That should be expected before Kane became afraid of crossing Jake. Drake said something low to Alex and Sean, bringing their attention to him and they started talking.

Mike glanced at me and then Jake, "Wow, Kane must be really scared of you now since he didn't even acknowledge Max as he always tries to."

We all nodded in agreement, except Jake who shook his head. "Not scared, but cautious. Kane is definitely not one to be afraid, he just doesn't want to get in a fight with an Alpha blood. I think that he is trying to get Max, but in a subtle way while trying to show me that he was doing as I said."

"Yeah, that makes more sense." I said as I nodded.

"But how is he going to try to get to her? We need to stop him before he has her back in his clutches." Jane said, looking concerned as she gripped onto his arm.

I gave her a reassuring smile as I shook my head, "He can't succeed now. I won't let him."

Jake took my hand in his, bringing my gaze to him, "I won't let him either."

"Okay, class. Let's get teaching!" We heard the teacher, Mr. O'Connor say as he walked into the classroom, taking our attention to him. I took my hand away from Jake and got up from the desk, he got up from his desk as well. We all returned to our seats as he walked to the board and started writing on it.
