Chapter 45: Chapter 45

Jake burst out laughing as he looked at her. "A- you think I did that for you? B- you think that Stephanie is done for? Oh, she'll be back and other students will still worship her. This isn't a teen movie, Cassie. It's real life."

I nodded in agreement to what he said, "Yeah, no one can really be an outcast, especially not someone that has spent years making others worship her."

Cassie's face turned into a scowl as she glared at me, "I will still take her place and have everyone at my beck and call."

"Not everyone, barbie. Not us." I said, looking fiercely at her.

Cassie's glare turned into a look of fear and realization as if she just realized that I was part of something bigger than she was. Jake's gang. It was bigger and better than Stephanie's little clique. No one could bring us down because we were the baddies, everyone was afraid of us.

And if we were rumored to have killed someone, they would say that the person must have offended and deserved it. There were rumors that we were in a hang and most of the students believed it. That added to the fear that they have of not messing with us.

It's not that we wanted the students to be afraid of us. But we wanted them to get out of our way and have that fear of offending us so that they wouldn't mess with us. Everyone already knew that we didn't bully other students like Stephanie or humiliate them. Well, except for her because she deserved it. And other students actually looked up to our group.

We've heard whispers of how the students in the school thought we were cool and it was music to my ears. We were more than Cassie, more than Stephanie and the whole school. Why? Cause we didn't care what they or anyone thought of us.

Cassie turned to Jake after he just told her what she should have made her shut up and keep walking. "I want in on your group."

"Not gonna happen, Cassie." He said as he pulled my hand and we walked past her.

"I have the potential of being a bad ass!" Cassie shouted after us.

He glanced over his shoulder at her, "We only accept those that we trust, and you, Cassie is someone that we can't trust."

He turned back around and we continued our walk to class. I heard Sean say to Cassie, "Maybe once you learn to stop being so jealous of Max."

He laughed together with Shane, and I heard Cassie let out an angry sound before she stomped away in her high heels. I glanced at Jake, "Are we really going to let her in if she earns our trust?"

He glanced at me as the others walked beside us and talked amongst themselves. "No way, she's never gonna earn our trust. She's too selfish and power hungry. She would betray us in a heart beat no matter how clingy is to me."

That eased my worries, but not all, "But I still can't wrap my head around the fact that you actually slept with her."

He let a small, playful smile touch his lips, "Oh, is my baby doll jealous?"

I rolled my eyes, "Who wouldn't be if their boyfriend had a one night stand with someone else?"

He raised his brows as his smile broadened, "Would you like to have the one night stand with me?"

I felt a blush creep up my cheeks as I exclaimed, "A one night stand?! And I thought that you were my boyfriend."

He placed his arm over my shoulders as he chuckled, "Of course, I'm your boyfriend, your fiance and your husband in the future and what we will have will be much more than a one night stand so no need to be jealous. I'm all yours for eternity."

I couldn't help, but smile as I shook my head, "We haven't even gone to the river of true mates yet."

He glanced at me and I looked back at him as we paused walking, our friends passing us. "We haven't, but as you have said and I have said, we're mates."

I chuckled at his confidence as we continued walking, catching up with our friends. "Yes, we are."

After school let out, Jake, Sean, Shane, Jane and I piled into Jake's Ferrari in the school's parking lot. We were going straight to the River of True Mates using the map that Tanner sent me this morning. Jake placed the key in the ignition as he started the car. I was in the passenger seat, and in the back, Shane was in the middle while Sean was behind the Jake's seat and Jane was behind my seat.

Mike, Alex and Drake were standing beside the car and looking at us through Jake's window. Mike and Alex waved at us, "Bye, guys! Come back soon!"

"Yeah, be safe." Drake muttered as he stared at Jane, but she didn't say anything, she only turned to her window and looked out.

"Bye! We'll make sure to bring awesome monster fighting stories." Sean replied to Mike and Alex as he also waved.

"Don't forget car party stories!" Shane added with a laugh, and Mike sighed as Alex said, "Aw."

Jake chuckled as he glanced at our friends standing at the window. "Don't be too down, we're not even sure what kind of monsters we'll be battling, but Tanner said that they're really dangerous."

Mike shook his head, "I'm now more glad that I'm not going, but also scared for you guys."

"Me too." Alex said, looking terrified while Drake sighed, staring at Jane.

"I'll come with you, even if it's just to protect Jane." Drake said, glancing at Jake.

Jane's head whipped from the window to Drake as she protested with a frown. "What? No! You didn't want to come in the first place and I don't want to force you. Besides, I can take care of myself."

"She's right, man. She can take care of herself, and we're all here to protect each other." Jake said, trying to reason with Drake.

"Yeah, man, and there's no space here unless you two will travel in another car." Sean said, looking at Drake.

"You can't do something that you'll regret." Shane added, and Drake sighed again, looking at Jane.

"Alright, I'll see you guys when you get back, especially you, Jane." He said as he continued staring at her, but she only nodded stifly then turned her head back to the window.

"Okay, we should get going now so that we'll come back soon." I said, giving Drake a comforting smile. He turned his gaze to me when he heard my statement and smiled back.

"Yeah, what max said." Jake added with a smirk as he glanced at the three outside.

The three waved again and I smiled at them as I also waved together with Sean and Shane. Jane continued looking out the window to avoid looking at Drake. Jake pulled out of the parking lot of the school and started driving down the long road to the next town.

I pulled out my phone from my pocket and pulled up the picture of the map that Tanner sent. I placed the phone on the dashboard in the phone stand so that Jake could see it easily. "Here."

He glanced at me with a smile, "Thanks."

I smiled back as I watched him drive. The light blue band T-shirt he was wearing clung to his muscular arms. The sleeves were short so I could see his biceps and tattos on them as he turned the steering. I have to say that it was so s*xy and I couldn't take my eyes off even when he saw me and threw a smirk my way.

"I brought the snacks for our car 'party'!" Shane said, taking my gaze and everyone's to him as he raised a bag from the floor of the car.

"Yes!" Sean exclaimed, pumping a fist in the air.

"I'm feeling hungry already." Jane said as she took the bag from him and opened it.

Jake and I chuckled while Sean tried to get the bag from her as Shane shook his head, grinning. I glanced at the radio, "Now, all we need is karaoke to kick off our car party!"

I pressed the start button as Shane and Sean shouted, 'Yeah' and 'Alright!'

A rock song started playing from the radio, and even Jane shouted this time with the other guys. Jake and I laughed as we looked at each other. The three of them in the back started singing along and we joined them, belting the lyrics.

It was fun and we were already heading into town as sang, joked and laughed together. But our fun came to a stop when we were stopped by someone running in front of the car. Jake hit the brakes and we skidded to a stop.

I gasped as I saw who was in front of us or what. A man with long fangs, not like Jake's when he kissed my neck, and red eyes. His skin was so pale like he has never been in the sun, and he looked like a vampire. Oh God, don't tell me that vampires exist too.

He slammed his hands on the bonnet of the car and it shook us all. That did it for Jake and he opened his car door as he shouted, "Hey! Keep your effing dirty hands off of my car!"

"Jake." I called him, trying to get him back in where it was safe since we didn't know what a real life vampire could do, and he could suck his blood and that was it.

Jake didn't even hear me in his anger at the vampire dude slamming his car, and he walked closer to him. That left me no choice, but to also open my door and climb out. I heard the back doors open too as the other three climbed out too. The vampire dude looked at Jake angrily, but as he moved his gaze to me as I approached, he snared.

"Just the one that I've been looking for. Maxine Roberts. You're definitely coming with me."

"No way in h*ll is she coming with you, vampire!" Jake exclaimed as he moved to stand in front of me.

The vampire dude took his gaze to Jake and smirked, fangs showing even more. "Oh, but she has to whether you want it or not. We can't let her give out power and victory to the werewolves."

"What do you mean? How am I going to give power and victory to the werewolves?" I asked with furrowed brows in confusion. Jake looked confused too just as our friends that were now standing beside me.

"You will know all that once you come with me." The creepy, vampire dude said.

"She's not coming with you." Jake said as he moved to cover me completely from the vampire dude.

"Then I will have to take her by force!" The vampire dude exclaimed as he threw himself at Jake.

But Jake expected it and he threw a kick at his abdomen. The vampire dude flew back a few feet and landed on his butt. Jake glanced at me and then at the rest. "Get back in the car, all of you!"

"But we need to help-" I started protesting, but was cut off by Jake.

"We're driving away, so get in and start the car." He explained quickly as we watched the vampire dude get up.

"Okay." I replied and ran to the driver's seat while the rest piled in the back. I started the car just as I watched Jake fight the vampire dude.

He swiped his long fingernails at Jake, but he caught his wrist and twisted it then jabbed his knee to his stomach. Jake let go of his wrist as the dude held onto his stomach in pain. As soon as he let his wrist go, the vampire threw a kick at him, catching him in the side.

"Jake!" I shouted, feeling worried and scared for his life. I wanted to go out and help him, but I knew that I needed to stay in the car as he told me to.

Jake held onto his side and the vampire threw a punch at him, but he dodged to the side, catching his fist in his hand. He twisted it, making the vampire let out a scream, and kicked his abdomen again, but harder. The vampire flew back farther than before and Jake ran at him as he raised up. He jumped and threw a flying kick at his head, landing on all fours before he quickly stood up.
