Chapter 40: Chapter 40
"After you, baby doll."
"Sure." I replied, and walked into the house.
Jake followed after me and closed the door. He left the suitcase there and took my hand before leading me away from the hallway that we were standing in and to the spacious living room that I could see from there. "Make yourself comfortable here, and I'll go call dad."
"Okay." I replied as he let my hand go then started towards the stairs.
I looked around the living room. It was as spacious and expensive looking as when I first came over, more than ours which wasn't an ordinary house. There were expensive vases and paintings on the wall with a 9" flat screen TV. The chairs were also amazing and ash colored.
I heard footsteps coming down the stairs and I looked towards it to see Jake and his dad coming down. As they reached the ground, Mr. Simpson grinned at me and I instantly felt at ease. I smiled back at him. "Hey, Mr. Simpson."
"Hello, Max. Nice to meet you, Jake explained everything to me. Don't worry, I'll talk to your dad and reassure him that I won't let that Kane guy come near you." He said in a friendly tone.
"Thank you, Mr. Simpsons, I'll call him right now." I said as I took out my phone from my jeans pocket.
"No need to be so formal, Max. You can call me dad or uncle, whichever you find comfortable." He let out a small laugh and I gave a small laugh too, "Sure, uncle Simpsons. I think dad's too informal since I just started dating Jake."
"Yeah, you're right." He replied with a smile.
I looked at Jake to see that his gaze was already on me. He smiled when our gaze met and I smiled back before moving my gaze to my phone.
I scrolled through the contact list until I reached my dad's number. I tapped on it and placed the phone against my ear. It rang a few times before he picked up the call. "Hey, dad, here's Jake's dad."
"Alright, sweetheart." Dad said, and I passed the phone to Jake's dad.
He took it from my hand and placed it against his ear, "Hello, Max's dad."
"Yes, Jake explained everything to me." He replied to what dad said to him.
"It's fine, you can count me on. I will make sure to protect her."
"Alright, good night." He took the phone from his ear and passed it over to me.
I took it and checked the screen to see that dad has hung up. I placed the phone back in my pocket as I heard uncle Simpsons say, "Jake, why don't you show Max where she will be staying?"
"Okay." Jake replied to him as I looked up. He glanced at me, "Let me get your suitcase and show you."
"Okay." I replied, and uncle Simpsons glanced at the both of us. "I will be in my sturdy if you need me."
"Alright." I said as Jake replied, "Sure, dad."
Uncle Simpsons turned around and head back up the stairs while Jake walked back to the hallway we came through as I waited for him. In a few seconds, he walked back into the living room, dragging my suitcase. He glanced at me with a smile touching his lips, "Follow me, baby doll."
"Okay, bad boy." I replied back teasingly, and his smile turned into a smirk.
He made his way towards the stairs then stopped dragging the suitcase. He grabbed the handle and picked it up like it weighed nothing then started up the stairs. His bicep muscles flexed with the tattoo on his arm. I have to say that it was very hot to watch.
I smiled, enjoying the view and followed him up the stairs. We finally reached the top floor and he led me past two doors on the right before he stopped at the third one. He pushed the door open and walked in. I followed him in to see a large bed room with a twin sized bed, but no bed sheets. A dressing mirror, a dresser and set of drawers.
Jake placed the suitcase on the floor and turned to me. "The bed sheet's inside the drawers."
"Okay, thanks so much, Jake, for everything." I said, looking at him, and he looked happy.
"No need to thank me, baby doll. I want to do this." He said, flashing me a smile as he stepped closer to me until we were inches apart. "My room is opposite yours, if you need anything, let me know."
"Alright, I will." I said as I looked up into his eyes as he continued staring into mine.
"Good night." He breathed out, and leaned his head closer to mine. I expected him to kiss my lips, but instead he brushed his lips against my forehead.
He pulled back as I replied, "Good night, Jake."
He nodded and stepped aside to walk past me to go out of the room. I turned around to see him walk to the door facing my room and he opened it. I watched as he walked in and closed the door. Sighing, I closed the bed room's door and walked over to the drawers to bring out the bed sheet.
I fluttered my eyes open to see the morning sun coming through the window and landing on my face. I sat up and stretched my arms above my head in a yawn. Throwing the duvet aside, I climbed down from the bed and made my way to the door. I pulled it open and walked out.
I needed to go to the bathroom and Jake didn't tell me which door it was. Guess I would have to ask him now. I walked towards his door and knocked. I heard feet shuffling before he said, "I'm coming."
He opened the door a moment later and I decided to get back at him, "Just from seeing me?"
