Chapter 11: Chapter 11

"It's not easy for me. I need more time." I smiled sadly at him, and he nodded.

"Okay, I am sorry for pushing. You are just so good, yet you don't know."

"Good? Have you forgotten that I am the bad ass bad girl?" I said as my smile turned into a smirk.

"I can never forget, but I also see the good in you, Max. That is what pulls me to you even more, and the fact that you are so hot." He laughed at the end.

I laughed too, "I guess guys will be guys."

He shook his head as he flashed a smile at me.

We heard the door opening and both turned to the door. We were so absorbed in it that we didn't hear the sound of a car. A woman that I assumed was his mom stepped through the door.

"Jake, honey-" She stopped her sentence when she noticed me.

"Oh, is this Max?" I looked at him with surprise written all over my face. I couldn't believe that he told his mom about me.

"Hello, Mrs. Simpsons." I said, and stood up, holding out my hand to shake hers, but she hugged me instead.

"You're choking her, mom." Jake joked as he chuckled. She pulled back and smiled at me. "Hello, Max."

I was sitting in Mrs. J's classroom. She was teaching vowel sounds, and the class seemed interested in learning more on it even though we've been doing it since grade school. Anna was sitting in front of me, and Jake was on my left.

Sean was in front of Jake and Mike was sitting next to me, so he and Jake were by the wall while I was in the middle. Alex was behind Shane and in front of Mike. I didn't even know Alex attended our school until last week.

They all seemed like normal high school teens, no one will suspect that they were involved with gangs. I was jotting down what the teacher was explaining, but I closed the book as soon as the bell rang, and I stood up.

The rest of the gang stood up as well and Anna waved bye at me. We marched out of the classroom with Jake and I leading the group. Mike, Shane, Sean and Alex were following us. Everyone gave way for us, no one wanted to mess with us.

"You do realize that the school now knows that you're one of us right?" Jake whispered as we walked down the hallway to the cafeteria.

"I know." I said with a smirk.

"So, where are we going?" I asked Jake as he drove us in his car. He pulled me along to his car saying to come with him after school ended.

"Aiden and Rafer's place. You're going to learn how to shoot." My head snapped to him in shock.

"What? Like shooting a gun."

"Yeah, with the drillers picking fights with us, we need all the help that we can get."

"So cool!" I exclaimed in excitement."I'll get my own gun."

"Yes." He grinned at my hyped up mood. "But I don't want you in harm's way, so please try to stay out of most of it?"

"Okay."

"We're here." He said as he parked in the lot.

I opened my door and stepped out. The house that stood before me was normal looking. It looked like what a bachelor would live in. Jake pressed the lock and came around to walk towards the house. I followed him through the door.

Greg and Grey were on the couch watching whatever was on the TV and barely glanced at us.

" 'Sup man." One said as the other said "Dude."

What? No greeting for me?

Jake returned the greeting with a nod continuing on his way down the corridor.

"Hey." They both said together. Woah, it's that twin thing, and that sounded so cool.

"Hi." I smiled at them then walked faster to catch up with Jake.

"So, where are we training?"

"You'll see, oh curious one." That made me laugh.

Jake led me down a hallway then to an elevator at the end. He pressed the button and the doors opened. We stepped in and he pressed the button for the basement. I guess that would be where we will be training.

The elevator doors opened and we stepped out. My eyes widened in surprise and amazement as I saw the basement, "Wow!"

Jake glanced at me with the side of his lips quirking up in a smirk, "I know."

The room had several types of guns lined on the wall opposite us, and a shooting area was on the left. It had metal dummies and on the right side of the room were ammo; bullets for the guns on the wall. I walked to the guns and I traced a machine gun, looking at how sleek it was.

My gaze moved to a smaller, black gun, and I picked it up. It was heavier than I expected. I had never seen guns up close before. Although the Drillers gang had them, Drake never let me near them because he didn't trust me around them. I heard Jake's footsteps as he approached me and I turned around.

"Good choice, it is perfect for your first shooting practice." Jake said, glancing at the gun in my hand before looking back at me.

"I figured that was why you brought me here when I saw the guns."

"Alright, smart Alec. Let's start." He said jokingly, his smirk widening into a teasing smile.

He turned around and walked to the shooting area. A table was on the side a few feet from the dummies. Ten, black noise canceling head phones were laying there. He took two and handed me one. I took it from him with my hand that wasn't holding the gun.

"Okay, I am going to show you how to shoot first. After you see me, then you will do as I did." He explained, and I nodded.
