Chapter 20: Chapter 20
Shawna and Elsa stood opposite each other in the vice principal's office. Shawna knew deep down that she was in deep shit and no one could save her.
“Oh you are here already.” The vice principal said as she entered her office. Shawna started shivering in fear while Elsa just stood not minding at all.
“Names?” She asked them.
“Elsa Williams.”
“Shawna Greene.”
“What are you doing here?” She asked despite knowing.
“You told us to come here.” Elsa said and the vice principal started laughing. Shawna looked up immediately at Elsa and scoffed.
“Such an expensive joke, huh?” She asked.
“You are a new student right?” The vice principal asked.
“Yes.” Elsa replied.
“Oh, that’s fine.”
“So what ensued that led to the fight?” She asked as she brought out a file. She looked up when she saw no one talking.
“Speak.” She ordered.
“Ms. Greene?” She called and raise her eyebrows.
“I was in the café talking to my friends when she came up to me and slapped me.” Shawna said with quivering voice.
“Why?” She asked.
“Ma'am?” Shawna asked as she did not get what she meant.
“Why did she walk up to you and slap you?” She asked.
“I..” Shawna could not talk.
“Ms. Williams, you can speak.” She said as she wrote down what Shawna said.
“Days ago, my sister and I saw a paper in our lockers.” Elsa said.
“Lockers?” The vice principal asked.
“Yes, ma'am.” Elsa said politely.
“How did it get there?” She asked.
“I don’t know, ma'am.” Elsa said.
“So what have it got to do with Ms. Greene?” She asked.
“Days before that, Shawna had walked up to me and threatened me.” Elsa said. She definitely not letting her off the hook.
She was so scared. They might expel her. And her father.. Oh no!
“Did you report it to the authorities?” She asked her.
“No.”
“Why?” She asked and stopped writing.
“I thought she was just been childish so I did not count it as anything.” Elsa said.
“If I may ask, why did you threaten her?” She asked turning to Shawna. Shawna looked up and swallowed dryly. She has messed with the wrong person.
“Hmm, I… I.. Erm.” Shawna kept stuttering as she did not know how she will explain this.
“Ms. Williams, please go on.” The vice principal said when she saw that Shawna was not going to reply her.
“She told me not to use the same name for my puppy as she has used for hers.” Elsa said surprising both the vice principal and Shawna.
Huh?
“Can you repeat what you just said?” The vice principal asked totally in shock.
“She said I should not use the same name for my puppy as she has used to it for her.” Elsa said confidently.
“And what is the name you used for your puppy?” She asked finding the whole reason ridiculous.
“Andy.” Elsa said smoothly. Shawna just stood there with conflicting mind.
“Is it true, Ms. Greene?” She asked Shawna.
“Hmm, erm, y-yes.” Shawna said.
“And how did you know that her puppy's name is Andy?” The vice principal asked.
“We are close friends.” Shawna said.
“Hmm, during the holiday, she bought a puppy and decided to annoy me with it.” Shawna said and looked at Elsa.
“Yes, ma'am. It is actually nothing.” Elsa said.
“Yea, just two close friends fighting.” Shawna said gritting her teeth.
“Okay, if that is true then there is no need for the unnecessary things we are doing right now.” She said and closed the file.
“If you don’t fight in a friendship, then I must say it is fake.” The vice principal said and smiled at them.
“Whenever such happen, try to make sure you control your anger to prevent unnecessary commotion.” The vice principal said to Elsa.
“And to you Ms. Greene, you can get a new name for her puppy or what do you think?” She asked and smiled.
“Nice one.” Shawna said and hugged Elsa who did not hug back.
“You can take your leave.” She said.
“Thank you, ma'am and welcome back.” Shawna said. Gosh, she was free.
The vice principal just nodded at her in response. They both left her office.
“Friends.” She said and shook her head.
***
“Out so quick?” Julia asked surprised.
“Yeah, any problem?” Elsa asked.
“You missed two classes.” Ellie said and sat down with them.
“The breeze is really welcoming.” Julia said as she stared at the tree that she had sat under.
“So how did you do it? Like did she get any punishment and were you put on suspension?” Julia asked curiously.
“Hey, a question after the other, please.” Elsa said and rubbed her forehead.
“You can't blame me, you know no one goes into her office without coming out punished, expelled or suspended.” Julia said.
“She is the strict vice principal of the school.” Julia continued.
“Even the principal is not as strict as her even though he is strict also.” Julia said.
“Most of the rules you see are from her, she brought them herself.” Julia said.
“Will you let me explain or not?” Elsa asked out of frustration.
“Oh, sorry, go on.” Julia said.
Elsa went on to explain everything that happened in the office from the discussion to leaving the office.
“Woah!” Julia exclaimed and started laughing.
“Like the same puppy name, what the actual fvck is that?” Julia said while laughing.
“Whatever.” Elsa said.
“Don’t want to make enemies yet in this school since I am on scholarship.” She continued.
**
“Like she lied to get you out?” Tessy asked again to be sure of what she heard.
“Yes, she made up some lie about the name of our puppies which obviously we do not have.” Shawna said.
“I warned you about it, didn’t I?” Crystal asked.
“If she had not lie, you would have been suspended.” Betty said.
“I was so close to straightening things out with Jayson but she had to ruin it.” Shawna said angrily.
“Something that still baffles me is that I only put the papers in Elsa's lockers, how did another get into Ellie's locker?” Shawna said.
“Or wait, Tessy, did you put in Ellie's locker too?” She asked facing Tessy.
“No.” Tessy said shaking her head negatively.
“Then who put the paper in Ellie's locker?” Shawna asked nobody in particular.
Knock! Knock! Knock!
The knock on the door brought her out of her thoughts as they all looked up.
“Who is there?” Betty shouted.
“Riley.” The female voice said innocently.
“Riley?” Crystal said.
“Yes ma'am.” She replied.
“Coming.” Tessy stood up and went to open the door.
“Come in.” Tessy urged her.
“Good day, seniors.” Riley greeted.
“Good day.” They all chorused.
“Shawna, Jayson asked me to tell you to meet him at the library.” Riley said. Shawna looked up immediately.
“Huh?”
“The one that is not mostly used.” She said.
“Okay, I will be on my way now, thanks.” Shawna said and smiled a little.
“Good bye.” Riley said and left.
“Why does he want to meet you?” Tessy asked.
“Who knows.” Shawna said and left them.
