LAUREN……

"Meet our Luna. She's Brianna. Jaxon's mate." Jace's words fell like thunder on my head and I immediately stared at Jaxon who was standing in the distance. As soon as our gaze met he looked away avoiding my gaze.

I immediately bowed my head in front of Luna Brianna showing my respect to her. "Greetings, Luna Brianna." She didn't look happy to see me so just with a nod she walked ahead passing me. My gaze followed her and I watched her lunging at Jaxon wrapping her hands around his neck and giving him a sensual kiss right in front of my eyes. I felt like sliding onto the ground and hiding.

"Lauren, let me show you your room." Jace hooked his arms with mine and dragged me along with him. Though I was walking with him my eyes didn't leave Jaxon who was also looking at me with Brianna I'm his arms. My heart clenched painfully.

I didn't bother to look around the house but the moment I reached my new room I was awestruck by its beauty. It was so big. For a moment I forgot about my pain and started observing everything in the room.

"I'll send a maid to settle your belonging in its place." I stared at James and shook my head.

"No, I don't like others to touch my things. I'll manage."

"But, darling, you are pregnant now. You can't do chores in this condition. We won't allow you. So be an obedient girl." Jace said in an authoritative voice and he seemed serious.

I raised my left brow at him, "What if I don't follow your order." Folding my arms against my chest I asked him confidently.

Jace smiled at me and pulled me close to him by holding my arm and I almost bumped into his chest. I looked at him with a surprised-filled gaze.

"You will be punished, pussycat. So try to be an obedient girl." He was very much close to my liking which made my heart race. He was behaving like a dominant master.

To avoid the awkward situation I nodded my head and pushed him to make some space between us but before I could do so I felt someone's presence behind me. And I didn't have to turn to confirm who it was. Because James was the only person present in the room except me and Jace.

I jumped a little when I felt his arms snaking around my waist and he leaned on the crook of my neck then he inhaled my scent deeply. I was so shocked I could not react at all and when I regained my conscience I asked them.

"What do you think you are doing right now?"

"We like you and we want you to be ours." I was stunned to hear their confession. It was so sudden that I was left with a lack of words. I could not find any suitable words to put in front of them.

"Have you both lost your mind? How can you like me? Don't forget I'm carrying your brother's child." I tried to be confident. But from deep inside I was trembling with nervousness.

"That's not the point. You are just a surrogate mother of his child. Not his spouse. So we have a chance." I closed my eyes and then opened them while gritting my teeth.

"But I don't like you." Saying that I got myself out of their clutches and stared at them with a death glare.

"Before I beat the shit out of you both, disappear from my sight," I yelled at them. Both of them looked at me and burst into a guffaw. I looked at them with my mouth open.

"Oh, God, Lauren. You really fall for it. I thought you were a sensible girl with a high IQ. But I was wrong. You believed us. Yaar, we were messing with you." I looked at James who was suppressing his laugh and then at Jace who was still laughing.

I hit both of them. "How dare you? How could you do such a prank with me? I'll beat the shut out of you." I was on the verge of crying.

"Aww, don't start crying now. Don't forget you are not a five-year-old child but going to give birth to a child." I glared at Jace but James pulled me in his arms.

"Don't worry, no one will pull a prank on you. Go and get freshen up. I'll send food for you. You must be hungry." I nodded at him and they both left my room.

As soon as I stood under the shower tears began to stream down from my eyes as the memory of Jaxon and his mate flash in my mind. Why didn't he tell me about his mate? Was he deliberately hiding this from me, so that I don't get hurt after knowing that or he didn't feel the need to tell me?

After finishing my shower I slipped into something comfortable and got out of the closet to find the twins sitting on my bed with my food.

"What are you doing here? Don't tell me you are here to watch me eat or worse want to feed me?" I questioned them in a serious tone but they didn't seem to take my words seriously.

"Come and have your meal. The father of this child wants us to make sure you finish everything in this tray." James told me and I raised my brow.

"Oh, really! If he is so concerned about his child then why didn't he come to inspect himself instead of sending both of you." I spat on him and sat on the bed to have my meal. They will not spare me until I finish them so it's better I finish my food and chase them out of my room.

"He has other things to handle. That's why he ordered us to babysit you." I gave Jace my best fake smile.

"I'm fluttering."

It was 2 am and I could not sleep at all. I kept changing sides trying to sleep but it seemed my sleep flew away. I shuffled off the bed and put on my robe to go out of the room. I made sure there was no one present in the hallway before I left the room. While walking I saw Jaxon going toward the kitchen so I made my way to the Kitchen to talk to him.

I cleared my throat to get his attention while he was drawing out the milk from the fridge. He turned around to see but when he found me standing at the kitchen doorstep he continued what he was doing.

"Huhh! Did he just ignore my presence? I badly want to smack his head against the wall and ask how do you feel now. Because I feel the same way when Jace told me, Brianna us his mate, and Luna of the pack. Huhh! He thinks he can play with me whenever he likes and throw me away when he doesn't feel like it. If he thinks I am a plat thing for him then he's fucking wrong. Today he has to make things clear between us. I want to know what I'm for him. If he says I'm just a surrogate mother of his child then I will never bother him in the future and live giving birth to his child." Saying that in my mind with determination I moved forward.

"Don't you think you have something to explain to me?" Jaxon lifted his eyelashes and gave a brief glance at me then started to stir the coffee in the mug.

"No, I don't." His cold reply made me feel like someone had dumped a bucket of ice on my head.

I watched him walk out of the kitchen passing me. "Are you avoiding me?" My question made him halt on his track and tilted his head in my direction but didn't look at me.

"Why did you do this to me?" He stared into my eyes and my heart clenched seeing what I never wanted to see. There was warmness in his eyes when he used to see me before but now there was nothing but coldness.

"What did I do to you?" I raised my brows at his questions. Is he asking me this question?

"Don't pretend that you don't know what I'm talking about." This time he turned to face me fully.

"I didn't get what you were trying to say." A scoff escaped my lips as I heard his words.

"Really!"

"Okay, let me clear things up for you." I clasped my palms together. And looked up at him in a serious way.

"Why didn't you inform me about your mate?" He raised his brows then looked away for a moment and again stared back into my eyes.

"I didn't think it necessary to tell you. Moreover, you are hired to give me a baby. I don't think my personal matters should concern you. There is nothing between you and me. You are just my baby's surrogate mother. That's it." His words left me stunned.

"Yeah, you are right. I'll remember that." I pressed my lips together and left the kitchen.

I was too foolish to develop feelings for him. When he was just attracted to me because of his wolf. Today he has opened my eyes. I'm nothing to him except the surrogate mother. I'll keep that in my mind and try to stay away from him as much as I can.
