Chapter 13: Chapter 13

Lauren stared at Jaxon with her racing heart and fearful eyes. Jaxon got up from the bed abruptly and raked his hand through his hair letting out a frustrated groan. Then turn around to look at Lauren who was still sitting on the bed looking down.

"Look, my wolf was in control now. And I'm sure you knew that. Whatever he says, don't take it seriously. It was just a mistake. I think he has lost his sane mind. I will talk to him. Though I can't promise you that this thing will never repeat, I will try that nothing like today ever happens in the future." Saying that he rushed outside of the room leaving Lauren shattered.

Her chest felt heavy, and her eyes got teary. She felt pathetic. Why does no one want her? Why does everyone reject her and run away from her as if she's contagious? She asked in her mind but got no answer. She hid her face in the pillow and cried her heart out.

In the morning Lauren gets freshened up and wears a beautiful knee-length red dress with her hair open as she already knew they are going to the pack house today. So she already dressed herself presently so that no one can question her dressing scene.

While she was declining the stairs and making her way to the dining hall Jace and James' eyes fell on her at first. Their mouths fell open in awe as she was looking, breathtakingly beautiful, who just walked in. Their hearts escape a beat glancing at the goddess. Jace even stood up to escort her.

"Please give me the honor to escort the goddess to the table." Jace used a cliche line while hooking his hand with her elbow. Lauren giggled at his act and walked with him to the table.

Jaxon raised his head to look at Lauren then his heart skipped a beat and he felt his throat run dry at the stunning beauty walking at him. But when he noticed Jace with her his fist clenched tightly. He looked away, not able to bear to see her with another man.

As Jaxon was sitting in the middle chair and Jace and James were sitting on his right side so Lauren settled on the left side of Jaxon.

"I will sit with Lauren," Jace exclaimed happily while sitting next to Lauren. Jaxon clenched his jaw seeing their close relationship and was burning from inside.

Jace helped her to fill her plate and then both enjoyed their breakfast together. James and Jace both were laughing and talking to Lauren so freely as if they knew each other for ages. And they were so in their own zone that they forgot that their elder brother also exists in the same room with them. So to get their attention he cleared his throat but they didn't seem to hear that and it pissed him off.

He was so angry that he let out a loud growl which made the house shake. They all looked at him petrified.

"What's wrong Brother? What makes you so angry?" Jace asked him not knowing the actual reason but it wasn't too hard for Lauren to acknowledge his annoyed face.

"I have to make an important announcement. So listen to me carefully." Jaxon talked in a serious tone. And his both brothers sat attentively.

"As you know our enemies are behind Lauren and we don't know who it is that is doing this. So father has decided….." He paused and stole a glance at Lauren before averting his eyes from her to his brothers.

His brothers were holding their breath because they were afraid of their father's decision. After all, his father was a dangerous man who could do anything for his benefit. They were scared for Lauren. "He decided to take Lauren in the Dark Moon Pack as your mate." He dropped the bomb on their head. And James and Jace screamed.

"WHAT?"

Lauren was silently having her meal as she was aware of everything. And she doesn't have to bother because it was their headache to keep their heir, their bloodline safe.

"You heard me correctly," Jaxon said and both brothers shared a look then looked back at their brother.

"If you do this then….." Jace paused and his shocked face converted into a joyful one. "We don't have any problem. We are okay with it. Just after giving birth let her be our mate." This time a bomb dropped on Jaxon's head after hearing his brother's statement. He thought they would disagree but he was wrong. The twin brother seemed so happy that they got the moon in their hands.

Jace was beaming with happiness as James was. But James wasn't jumping like Jace. Jace lunged at Lauren and hugged her, making her stunned. Lauren was just observing Jaxon. Because she wanted to see if it affected him or not and her heart puffed up with satisfaction when she noticed Jaxon's hard face. He was angry as hell.

"You both don't have any problem?" Jaxon again asked to confirm they were serious.

"Of course Brother. We have no problem. We will take care of her as our mate. Though we are just pretend mates, we will treat her as our real mates. Obviously except for any physical relationship." James remarked with a smile and Jaxon nodded his head.

"Well, Lauren, will you be our mate for real? I'm asking seriously. Don't take it as a joke." It was Jace who asked Lauren. Lauren looked at him with wide eyes. As she wasn't prepared for such a situation. It was alien to her. They are asking her to be their mate for real. And she became nervous all of a sudden.

"Jace, give her some time to consider. You can't just pressurize her. We have plenty of time to stay together. We can win her heart in these periods " James told him and Jace's face lit up.

"You are right. I didn't think about that. You are truly more sensible than me." Jace patted James' shoulder and looked at Lauren.

"You don't have to take a rush to answer. You can take time. Enjoy your meal." Jace told her while grinning ear to ear.

"Hmm." Lauren nodded her head with a small smile.

"I'm full." Saying that Jaxon stood up abruptly resulting in the chair falling down and he just stormed off from there.

A satisfied smile curved up into Lauren's lips as she watched him walk off the dining room angrily.

"What happened to him? He seemed to be pissed off?" Jace asked James who just shrugged his shoulders.

"When he is in a good mood. He always holds up a cold face." Lauren remarked and Jace chuckled.

"You are right though," Jace stated while picking up the boiled egg to stuff into his mouth.

"Mr. Jaxon Salvatore Knight I will see how long you can pretend that you don't have any feelings for me. Keep running away from me, darling." Lauren smirked looking up at the stairs from where he just left.
