Chapter 40: Chapter 40

Kimberly Brown's POV

"You should count yourself lucky that Mr Kyle came to your rescue," One of the police officers officer Scott addressed as Billy said to me while giving me my belonging which was taken from me after I got here.

"Miss Sonia would have let you stay here for a very long time, longer than you have ever anticipated," Officer Billy added, this Office seemed to me like a nice officer judging by the way he spoke to me.

"You are lucky too, Katy," Officer Billy said turning to Katy, "Imagine how long you have stayed here without any help," he told Katy.

"You're right, Officer, Mr Kyle is a good man, for him to order that I be released and not only that, accept to pay for the money I owe, he must be a good man, I only feel sorry for him, of all the nice women in our city, it has to be Miss Sonia," Katy said, more like a whisper.

"You're right, Katy, I feel sorry for Mr Kyle, you know, when his engagement with Miss Sonia was announced, I felt happy for him, I and some of my colleagues did, but not until after the announcement of their engagement did Miss Sonia bring out her true self, only most people still think of her as a good person though, I think she is intoxicated by the power she has as a soon to be daughter in law of the prestigious Greenwood’s." Officer Billy said.

"Yeah that's right, Officer," Katy agreed and continues, "Miss Sonia seemed like a nice and loveable person on the outside but she is so despicable on the inside, one can easily be deceived by her looks," Katy added, and I too agree with her.

If I haven't encountered her like this, I would have thought of her as a very good and well mannered human being.

"Mr Kyle may not end up with that woman," Officer Billy said, handing Katy her belongings too.

"That will never happen, that Miss Sonia has him wrapped around her fingers, didn't you see what happened here some moments ago?" I told Officer Billy.

"If that's the case, then I feel sorry for him, I wish that I could make that happen, Officer Billy, I wish that I could help Mr Kyle escape from that woman's hold, he is too good and well mannered to be with a woman like that, you saw how cool he spoke to me," Katy said her facial expression filled with pity for Kyle, I guess.

"Excuse me, ladies," Officer Billy told us, excusing himself a bit, maybe he's going to get something because he still hasn't asked us to go.

"Do not be deceived by what has happened to you, Katy, just consider it as a miracle," I told Katy, "Kyle or whatever he is called is no different from Sonia, they are made for each other, and he was only trying to show off, he is a wolf in sheep clothing," I told Katy raising my voice a little, anyone close by can hear me.

"Bring your voice down, Kimberly, don't let them hear you," Katy told me, looking around, "Why would you say that anyway?" Katy asked, "I don't think that is the case, Kimberly," Katy added disagreeing with me.

"If he isn't like that, why didn't he say something to stop Sonia, anything at all," I told her angrily, if only she knows what that man has done to me, she wouldn't be on his side.

"Well, I don't know why, but I don't think he is the same with Miss Sonia," Katy told me.

"Here you go," Officer Billy told us, showing us a place in the book where we can sign after he returned.

"Thanks," I and Katy said in unison to Officer Billy and turned to leave after signing in the book as he had shown.

"There they are," Sonia said pointing towards me and Katy as we walked out of the police station.

"What are they still doing here, I thought they've gone," Katy told me, glancing briefly at me.

I glanced at her briefly too before looking back at Sonia and Kyle wondering what this is about, that's when I realised what's going on, there's a bunch of reporters interviewing them, and they are rushing towards us now.

"I told you, Katy, these people are made for each other.

"What do you have to say to Mr Kyle and Miss Sonia for letting you go after what you did to Miss Sonia?" One of the reporters asked putting his mick in front of my face.

I was too furious and wanted to say something but Katy held my hand immediately and pulled me back a little so that she can speak into the mick herself.

"She’s thankful to them, especially to Mr Kyle for his generosity, and kindness, " Katy said in my place, she turned to me and gave me a sign not to say anything.

"What about you ma'am? How do you feel? Miss Sonia told us what they did for you, you have been here for a while now, according to Miss Sonia but they decided to let you go as well, accepting to pay your debts." Another reporter asked and said to Katy.

"Yes am thankful to them for my release," Katy replied.

" You see, Believe me when I tell you Kyle Greenwood is a good and kind-hearted man, who doesn't like to see people hurt, same goes for me, I only like to teach some ill-mannered individuals how to behave properly, that's why I brought Mrs Kimberly here in the first place, and you all know me, I would have kept her here a little longer if not for her son and for the sake of my darling Kyle here who Pleaded on her behalf," Sonia said to the reporters, holding Kyle's arm.

I stared at both of them, feeling very furious at how shameless they can be, I would have given her a corresponding reply if not for Katy who pressed on to my palm, gesturing for me to stay quiet, and it took a great deal of effort for me to take it all in... for the sake of my kids, I kept on reminding myself...

"And one more thing," Sonia said in front of the reporters when I and Katy turned to leave.

"You should say thank you to the Greenwood’s for giving you such a beautiful cheque, I'm sure you would love it because it is going to change your family lives forever, my dear, count your son's accident as a blessing in disguise," Sonia said to me...

"What, did you say?" I asked furiously glaring at Sonia, but Katy pulled me away quickly before I could say any other word, and all I could see is Kyle and Sonia still in front of the press, I can see how Sonia smiles, I think they are basking in glory in front of the press for giving my family money, money that I am only hearing for the first time, instead of repeating for their malicious deeds...
