Chapter 36: Chapter 36

"That's the truth, mum, if you don't believe me ask Brian or call Doctor Sam," Sonia said.

"You donated your blood? Do you want to die, Kyle?" Mum asked, "You know your state of health, how can you donate your blood to another?" Mum again glaring at me.

"Am not dead, Mum, am I? I just wanted to help that little kid, you know that kid needed blood transfusion so urgently and if nothing was done immediately we could have lost him,"

"That's not for you to decide, that's what the blood banks are for," mum replied, sounding very angry.

"Tell him, mum, now look how weak he is," Sonia said pointing at me.

"Oh my goodness," Mum said holding her palm in her mouth and moving closer to me, checking me out, "No wonder you look this weak, am going to have that Doctor Sam punished for this," mum said.

"Leave Doctor Sam out of this mum, I made the decision myself, am an adult now mum, and I can make these decisions myself," I snapped at her at the mention of punishing Doctor Sam.

"Oh please, he deserves to be punished mum," Sonia said.

"I said stay out of this, Sonia," I yelled at her, "Mum, that's not the reason why she's here, tell her to release that boy's mum at once," I said reminding Mum of why Sonia is here in the first place.

"That boy's mum slapped my face, you were there, weren't you, Kyle?" Sonia said and asked.

"Why didn't you say or do anything about it, Kyle? You should have put that woman in her place yourself for slapping your fiancée," Mum said instead and this made me even angrier.

"How can you say that mum? You were the one who just said that there's no smoke without a fire, you didn't even ask what Sonia did before that woman slapped her." I told mum.

"Mum, I only went there to pay them a visit just as dad instructed me and Brain to, surprisingly for me and for Brian we met Kyle there, looking very weak, weaker than he is looking now..."

"That's enough, Sonia, Mum didn't ask you to explain all that, go and get that woman released at once, "I yelled at her trying to make her stop.

"Mum, I only asked Kyle here what happened to him to make him this weak, do you know what that woman said to me?" Sonia asked mum.

"What did she say?" Mum asked, turning from me to Sonia again.

"She asked me to leave her son's ward at once because according to her am disturbing the kid, and before I could say anything further, she went and slapped my face, ordering me to leave," Sonia told mum.

"What? Kyle, is this true?" Mum asked, sounding angry herself.

"That's not true, mum, that's certainly not true," I said in Kimberly's defence.

"Go and ask Brian, Mum, he was present when it all happened," Sonia told Mum. "I'm not lying to you, mum, that woman lacks manners that why I thought to teach her a lesson."

"You're despicable, Sonia, how can you lie like this through your teeth? Mum, she's lying, she insulted that woman and her son, that's why she did what she did, anyone in her place would do the same, I mean, her son's in a difficult situation and Sonia didn't help matters at all, she didn't act civil, that's why that woman did what she did and I don't blame her for it, if I were in her situation, I would have done far worse than what she did to you, you here me, you lying b*tch," I said turning to Sonia, I just can't stand her deceit anymore.

"Did you hear that, mum?" Sonia asked mum, "I told you, Mum, Kyle hates me, he hates me so much, Mum," she said to mum, pretending as if she is hurt by what I said, and I know what she's trying to do now, this b*tch wants mum to sympathise with her instead and am not about to let that happen.

"Mum, don't forget why I told you to call Sonia here, please mum, put yourself in that woman's shoes, her son is in the hospital fighting for his life, it's not proper for Sonia to lock her up in a police cell in a situation such as this one," I told mum rather calmly.

"You know how you felt when I was admitted in the hospital, Mum," I said, reminding her of the time when I was critically ill, "imagine then, mum, that you were locked in a cell away from me, am asking you to be reasonable here, mum, do what's right," I told Mum.

"Enough preaching, Kyle, what that woman did was wrong, and she owes Sonia an apology, no one disrespects my daughter in law that way," Mum said.

"She's not yet your daughter in law, Mum," I yelled frustrated at her statement, but she raised her hand to stop me from speaking further.

"Sonia dear," Mum said turning to Sonia, "I know you are hurt and you feel disrespected, especially when your fiance did nothing," she told her, "How shameless," mum said turning to me, I know she's referring to me.

"...am sorry about my son's behaviour, Sonia, but I want you to let her go this once, and that's because of her son's situation, okay, Sonia," she told Sonia.

"But mum?" Sonia said in protest.

"I know dear, let her go, for her son's sake, the poor boy needs her mum by his side," Mum said pleadingly to her.

"Okay, mum," She said, but I don't think she means it, I have to be sure she does as mum has said.

"I'll go with her mum, I need to be sure she released her at once."

"Kyle, your not in a condition to go there, let Sonia go alone, you need to rest," Mum told me, I would have loved to do that but as it is, I do not trust Sonia, she might go to her house from this place and leave Kimberly there in the police cell.

"No, Mum, don't worry I'll be fine, I feel better anyway," I told mum.

"No, Kyle, you don't look good at all, you need to rest," Mum insisted.

"I insist, Mum, let's go, Sonia," I said picking myself up again from the couch, heading towards the door.

"Don't worry, mum, he's going to be with me," Sonia told mum, "I'll watch over him because he's going to ride with me in my car, so you don't need to worry," she added, I hated the fact that am going to be riding with Sonia, but if it's for the love of my life, I'll do just about anything, including riding with this w*tch, I said within me.

"If you're going with her Kyle, make sure that woman apologises to your fiancée before letting her go, and let her know it's because of her son she being released, make sure of that Sonia," Mum said, and I wonder why she has to say that.

"Make sure that woman apologises to you Sonia, if she doesn't, then don't let her go, you head me, Kyle, make that woman apologise to my daughter in law first," mum said, and I feel like yelling at her this minute because I know how that is going to make me look in front of Kimberly.

"Thanks, Mum, you're the best," Sonia said jiggling, I know why she feels this way though, am hoping Kimberly will apologize to her even though it's not right because Sonia would want to capitalize on this and make her stay longer in the police cell.

"I know dear, you take care now," Mum replied Sonia...
