Chapter 45: Chapter 45

“Give it up, Natasha. You can’t use someone to protect you. Can’t you see the damage?”

I can perfectly see it. I can perfectly see the trauma, chaos, madness, and everything that can reap one’s soul in front of me. It was grievous. My hands were quivering, and my whole body was insensible on its spot. I slowly took a step closer to Harry, who was flinching, losing a lot of blood. One of his guards ceased me to move, but I didn’t listen. Allen was still saying something, but his voice faded into the background.

“H-harry…” I called his name, and I noticed how he opened his eyes, grinning at me while blood was gushing out of the side of his lips. He coughed, and I immediately kneeled beside him, letting his head rest on my lap. I caressed his forehead, droplets of tears were falling on his cheeks. I have to wipe them away.

“H-hold on, please….” I begged him, my lips shaping into uncontrollable sobs as I watched him beneath my lashes.

“Natasha, surrender yourself if you don’t want to cause any more impairment to your friend there.” Allen threatened, and I could feel a gun was pointing if it weren’t for Harry’s bodyguards to shield their bodies and protect their boss.

“You can’t kill him, Allen!” I shouted back. My face was already drenched with tears.

“I can, Natasha. I can…” Allen said tauntingly as if he was challenging me with what he could do.

I shook my head, closing my eyes firmly. “You’re the monster here! You can’t get away with murder!” I exclaimed. I don’t understand him. He wants to serve justice to those poor innocent lives that Ethan killed, yet he is primed to kill someone else who is helping him here. He can kill me if he wants to! But I don’t see the point why he needs to drag Harry down!

“I can because I have permission with the Marshal to bring the beast with him, and those helping them will be executed. And once I bought your husband to him, I will be promoted and become unbeatable.”

His voice shifted as if he couldn’t think straight clearly aside from gaining power and taking control of this country. This is undignified, coming from someone discussing a fair justice system.

”Karma will get you, Allen! You will pay someday!” I screamed, and this time I stood up, leaving Harry on the ground. I snatched the gun with one of Harry’s guards and then pushed them away, pointing the mouth on his forehead. They called my name, telling me to stop because it was dangerous, but I didn’t listen. When I finally ceased from my tracks, narrowing my eyes into slits while facing him closer, the side of his lips curved up, proud that I finally got the spirit to get out of the guard’s back. They wanted to pull me back, and I could hear Harry yelling my name, but I didn’t throw a glance at them.

Enough killings for today. I am sick of sacrificing themselves those people I care about. It’s time to finally man up and get over this.

“You can take my life, Allen. My husband is already dead. There’s no point of chasing anymore.” I said, a tear escaping down my cheeks. Allen wasn’t convinced by what I said, but he pointed the gun at me, ready to pull the trigger.

“I am the karma, Natasha. I am you and your husband’s karma,” he said, and we both finally pulled the lever jointly.

Everything happened in a slow phased. One of Allen’s comrades pulled him and placed their shields in front of them, protecting him. While I, on the other hand, stood there, letting the gun slip off my hands, anticipating the bullet to shoot at my forehead. I couldn’t blink while I was staring at the bullet point. Something sparked at the back of my head, and a series of memories was now flowing in my mind. Everything that had happened in my life flashed before my eyes, and I thought this time I was gone when all of a sudden, the ground beneath us shook.

I drop to my knees. The bullet hit my ear instead of my forehead. I screamed in pain but was glad I was still alive. I look at Allen’s way only to catch them furrowing their eyebrows in confusion while roaming their eyes. I paused, sensing the surroundings and what was happening. I blinked and heard an uproarious ear-splitting yell coming from a beast. My eyes widened, and I could rapidly feel my heart throbbing against my chest.

“I-is that?” before I could even stand up, someone appeared before me, shielding itself to protect me from Allen and his comrades. My jaw dropped to the ground, and my breathing hitched when I saw who it was. I could feel the rapid flow of energy moving through my veins. My heart accelerated to its full speed, and everything around me vanished. He is the only one I could see from my perspective.

“E-Ethan…” I called his name, breathless.

He’s awake…he’s finally awake. He was facing Allen and his forces, showing his claws and fangs, ready to attack if they charged forward. I raised my quivering fingers to touch him. I need to ensure he’s honest and I am not just dreaming or dead.

“Ethan?” I called his attention. Allen was also stunned to see him alive and looked more compelling than before. Ethan must have sensed me because he glanced down, and a tear escaped when our eyes locked for a moment.

“Y-you’re awake….” I said, and this time I couldn’t control my cries anymore. I was falling apart, clenching my chest where my heart was. Oh god, he’s here. He’s really here. I don’t know how he even found my location, but he made it just in time.

“Natasha…” the way his lips moved when he called my name took all my strength away. He raised his ample paws, wiping off the tears.

“H-how? How did you get here?” I asked him, and he smiled, leaning down so he could rest his forehead against mine.

“You were in trouble, love…” he mumbled, sending soft kisses against my nose, side lips, and cheeks.

We were lost in our own world when Allen yelled, and when we turned around, the gun was now pointing at us.

“So, you’re still alive, huh, after all that gunshots?!” he was savage, and I could see the thirst in his eyes. Famished for power and control. Allen pulled the trigger, and Ethan was about to shield himself when someone stepped forward, taking the bullet.

“Harry!” I screamed his name, stretching my hands to meet him, but Ethan stopped me. He blocks my way using his arms and staggers an onslaught on Allen. Ethan was clawing them, pulling them on their ankles, then throwing them against the walls. Some of his comrades couldn’t attack from fear, but Allen still persevered in dragging him down.

“Shoot him! Don’t let him escape this time!”

“Ethan, behind you!” I yelled when Allen stood behind him, holding a rifle in his arms. My eyes widen with fright because he can kill Ethan with one shot of that gun.

“You won’t leave this area alive!” Allen then pointed the scope at him. Ethan was about to turn around when Harry’s guards hovered over Allen, fastening him on his plan to kill Ethan.

Ethan didn’t waste any more time. He sprinted towards my way and then placed me on his shoulder. He stopped before Harry, who was clenching his shoulder this time. Tears were falling from his cheeks. Harry opened his eye, and stopped when he noticed Ethan, with his wolf form, was staring at him.

“Thank you…” Ethan mumbled before lifting him up on the ground, then sprinting away from the station, departed from Allen’s sight. Ethan jumped quickly and highly, then landed on the rooftops. Ethan runs and runs on the roofs of buildings. I was holding Harry carefully so he wouldn’t fall on his shoulders.

“Harry, can you still make it?” I asked him, and Harry nodded.

“I-I have a home near this place…take us there.”

Harry said the location, and Ethan quickly followed his instructions. I roam around the area, looking as if they are catching up on us. I breathed out a sigh of relief because we had lost them. I hugged Ethan tightly, sinking my face into the nook of his neck. His fur was tickling me, but I didn’t mind. I missed him so much.

After ten minutes of traveling, Ethan landed on the ground, looking around to see if any bystanders had caught us. When the coast was clear, Ethan carefully lifted Harry between his arms, and I dropped to the ground to observe the house. It was a minimalist style with white paints and high walls. Harry coughed, and blood was now spouting out of his mouth.

“L-leaned me against the door,” he said, his voice crack and weak. Ethan leaned him closer, and Harry placed his palm against a system that scanned his prints. The door automatically opened, and we rushed inside. I locked the door behind us.

“We’re safe here….” I said, and I caught Ethan placing Harry on the couch. Ethan shifted back to his human form, and I was stunned to see him standing straight as if he wasn’t in a coma for weeks. I hurriedly hugged him tightly this time, placing a kiss on his cheeks.

“Oh, god…how I missed you,” I mumbled in his ears.

“I missed you too, my love,” he said, tightening his grip around my waist when someone coughed, interrupting our moment.

“I-I hate to break it to you all, and I know you missed each other so much…but I am dying here,” Harry said, and now his sofa is covered with his blood.
