Chapter 44: Chapter 44

I slammed my hands on the table and hovered myself over him. That surprised Allen because he took the gun in his pockets and was about to shoot me when one of his comrades stopped him. Before I could arch an attack on Allen, one of his comrades hooked their hands behind my collar and pushed my face down on the table, almost breaking my nose. I winced and tried to kick him from behind, but they pinned my head. I couldn't fight back.

"Sir, we can't kill her unless she leads us to the beast…." I heard his comrades whisper to Allen's ear, making my whole body tremble in fear. My eyes widened as I tried to glimpse him and saw how his ruthless and cold gaze stared down at me. I felt like an ant stuck on its path because of a giant blocking my way, and that giant was no other than Allen.

"Y-you're going to kill me…." I mumbled as a statement, not a question itself. Allen stood up straight, composing himself before leaving the room. One of his comrades followed him while the one holding me pushed my hands against my back, almost breaking my bones. I cried and yelled for help, even though no one here would save me.

I clenched my hands into a fist as tears started to pour down my cheeks. The man lifted my head, making me stare at the ceilings. I coughed and begged for this to stop because I couldn't breathe anymore, but he just grunted in response, sitting me down on the chair. I winced from the pain sensation that seeped through my body. I couldn't feel my nose, and I thought a fluid was gushing down on my lips. I licked the liquid substance, making me shiver when the metallic taste exploded on my tongue.

"You can't escape here. We are going to ask you once again about your husband. If you don't tell us this time, we're going to take you to the torment cavity." the man exclaimed, letting go of me before going outside the room, leaving me alone. Once the door was closed, I was left there, staring at nowhere.

I bit my lower lip. My eyes were twitching. I couldn't help but think, how did Jessica know about our past? Did he investigate us? Either way, she ruined us. She ruined everything at this moment, and it's all because of Harry. I paused when I remembered him. He's being asked in another room. I felt something stab me in my heart, twisting it like a fork on pasta. It was as if I was carrying everything on my shoulder, and now I could no longer see anything aside from iniquity. My vision became blurry once again, and before I knew it, I was sobbing uncontrollably. Even how many times I wipe off my tears, they endlessly pour down like a fall.

How did it turn out to be this way? All I wanted was to have a life with Ethan. All I ever dreamed of was having a family with him. But why everything is taken away from me? Our child, my freedom, my choices, and my life. Is this the consequence of loving someone?

I closed my eyes firmly, clenching my chest where my heart was. I wanted to run towards the end of the cliff just to yell at everything. This is too much for me to handle. Everything is too much to carry. Why life is so cruel to us? I slowly bent my forehead on the table, leaning against it while letting my tears drop down on my feet.

Any minute now, Allen will come back, and as always, I will not tell them where Ethan is, even if my life depends on it. I sniffed, seeking some courage. It's better this way. It's better to die than to let them take Ethan. He deserves to be alive rather than me. He has saved my life countless times and almost sacrificed himself to the point he went into a coma. I'm so sorry, my love. I just hope that once you discover what will happen to me, just live your everyday life. Keep striving, and I hope…when he finds someone else, I will make him forget about me.

I covered my mouth when I was choking on my own tears. I have no idea how many hours I had cried when the door slammed open. I didn't look up because I had no energy to look at Allen. They can ask me all day if they want to. Point a gun beside my temple, but I will never let them know where my Ethan is.

Allen didn't say anything, but I could tell he was looking at me. I wiped off my tears. My hands were shivering with fright. Compose yourself, Natasha. You need to stand up for your husband. He will do the same if he's in a situation. I inhaled, seeking the courage to glance up to face Allen, but my heart dropped as soon as I saw who it was.

I blink, processing if this is true. I look around the area and notice no one is outside the room. How did he get here?

He hurriedly kneeled down beside me, and I saw he had keys in his hands. My breathing hitched when he tried to remove my cuffs.

"H-harry…what are you-"

"I am going to break you out of this hell," he said, concentrating on lock-picking my cuffs. My tears had stopped falling when he got here. My heart did a somersault with his remarks.

"B-but..how? And-"

"There is not much time to explain, Natasha. My guards are outside, defending us," he mumbled quietly, and when I took a peek outside, I saw one man wearing a black suit was holding a gun, looking from the hallways. I looked down and saw an unconscious body lying on the cold hard floor. He wasn't dead but indeed passed out.

I couldn't understand. Why is he helping me? I thought he was infuriated because the last time I saw him, his eyes were fed up with how he looked down at me. As if I am the most loathsome person he had ever met in his life. They let me get taken away from Allen's hands. He watched me beg and plead before him. Why is he doing this now? He put his life in danger too!

"H-harry…you need to go. I don't want you to die here with me."

Harry stopped from picking the cuffs, but I knew he was listening.

"They are going to kill me soon…." I trailed off, looking away. I blink because my grieving is coming back again when Harry pinches my chin, making me look at him straight. I swallowed when I saw the intensity in them as if he was digging up inside.

"And I won't let them," he said with finality, and at the same time, the cuffs were removed from my wrist. I blinked, looking down at my free hands.

Harry stood up straight, holding my hand.

"We need to get out of here before they could find us," Harry said, and I nodded. My heart was beating crazy against my chest, and I could feel the demons in my stomach twisting. I feel like I am going to pass out because of the tension.

"H-harry…did you tell them where-?"

"Don't worry," Harry placed his hands above my knuckles, caressing them softly. He looks worn out, afraid too, but he was pushing himself to act brave and tough, even though he knows he is against the law.

"I didn't tell them about your husband."

Something inside me flickered, and before I knew it, I hugged him so tight while pouring all the angst and heavy burden my heart was carrying. I gulped the lump in my throat, thanking him with all my heart for this.

"I-i'm so sorry, Harry if we drag you into this-"

"HEY!"

We both stopped when someone yelled outside. Harry and I both turn around only to see one of Allen's comrades following us here, and in front of them was Harry's guard, who was blocking their way.

"Hurry!" Allen held my hand clenched and opened the other door. His guard took care of the forces, giving us time to escape from this station.

"Sir! This way!" a man with the same suit the other was wearing earlier approached and guided us towards the back door. I couldn't help but smile because there was still hope. There is still a way to go back to Ethan. I glanced at Harry, whose eyes were looking straight ahead, determined to bail me out of here.

"Don't worry, Natasha," Harry reassured me.

"I will use all my connections to stop Allen and his forces from getting you and your husband. If he wants to start a war, so be it." Harry said, smiling at me.

I blinked before smiling back at him. If I could stop for a moment to hug him and tell him how thankful I am, I would do it.

"Harry, you-"

My heart stops from beating when Harry fell down to the ground. A hole was hit on his stomach. Since he was holding me, I ceased running and stood there, unable to move while my clothes splashed some blood from Harry's.

"H-harry?" I blinked, taking a step forward. It was as if everything had slowed down for a moment when blood was now covering the floor. I tried to move my hand, then shook his shoulder when I heard someone speak in front of me.

"You really think even the wealthiest man in this world can stop me from serving justice, Natasha?"

I gradually turned on my heels to see Allen and his units were pointing their guns at us. One of Harry's guards stood in front of Harry, protecting us. I wanted to move from my spot and kneel down on Harry's side to drag him out of this place because he was shot when Allen took a step forward. His sinister eyes had enough.

"I told you, you can't escape."
