Chapter 67: Chapter 67

My eyes enlarged, waiting for her to catch us doing it when we unexpectedly heard a shrieking noise coming from her grandad outside the cabin. Charm let go of the doorknob. We listened to her footsteps coursing out of the house. Ethan and I both looked at each other, sensing there was something wrong.

We decided to fix ourselves to see what was happening. However, before I could get up, Ethan pushed me down on the bed mattress, telling me I shouldn't go outside because I was not yet fully healed. I creased my eyebrows and suddenly wanted to toss huffs at him. I had sex with him! Isn't that enough to show him I can walk right now?

However, he still didn't approve, as if he had heard what I was thinking. He stroked his member, calming it down before sliding up his boxers. He caressed my cheek and then choked my neck before leaving, standing up beside the bed.

"I'll be back. Just wait for me,"  Ethan told me, then he trailed to Charm's back, following her to see the commotion.

I was left isolated in the room, suddenly looking so sluggish and bored. I glanced down at my body and was relieved when Ethan cleaned up the chaos he had made earlier. God, that man was hard to calm down when it came to sex. I sighed and then closed my eyes, waiting for Ethan to return.

I waited for hours, and I thought he wouldn't return anymore. My apprehension was gradually engulfing my system when the door opened. He stormed inside the room, walking casually. His hands were in his pockets as he sat on the edge of the bed beside me.

I noticed his eyebrows were rumpled, thinking intensely. Abruptly, the atmosphere around us weighs down. I gazed at him, asking him why he was silent when he suddenly lay down on my stomach. He was careful not to buy down all of his weight on me. I started to stroke his hair to somehow cool him down.

"We will leave this place the next day." he suddenly announced, causing me to stop stroking his hair in confusion. I darted him a look, wanting to know the answers.

"Did you find out something about them?" I whispered, careful not to be heard by someone outside. I know they are the ones who helped us from the authorities and even welcomed us into their home. Still, something is bothering me because it is just the two living here, alone, in the middle of the woods.

Nato has a gun, and Charm has an exceptional beauty that she can use for her own privileges. I have watched movies and documentaries before, and this setting was truly bothersome for us.

I tapped Ethan's shoulder, motioning him to explain to me what was going on. He parted his lips and was about to say something when the door opened, and Charm walked in without knocking. Since we are not doing anything, we actually anticipated this moment to happen. However, it did make my heart skip a beat somehow.

I know this is her room, but she should have knocked before coming in. When I looked into her face, it was pale, and I noticed her lips were shaking. Something was bothering her from the looks of her countenance. I couldn't help but feel nervous because her eyes were fluffy from crying.

"I'm sorry about that. My grandad almost had a heart attack. Ethan, could you please drive me to the city for his medicine if you don't mind? We ran out of his tablets." she explained while playing with her fingers.

Ethan and I glanced at each other, stunned to let out a word. I know we were thinking the same thing, and Charm noticed it because she waved her hand in dismissal, giving us a melancholy, woeful look.

"It's okay, I can just take a bus fare to the city. I understand you guys were being held against the cops, and it's risky to expose yourself from the mass." she nodded, then turned around, closing the door behind her.

We were left dumbfounded inside her room, not knowing what to do. Ethan gritted his teeth and then raised a brow when he noticed how bothered I was.

"Don't tell me-"

"Just this once, Ethan. Just like you said, we're going to leave this place soon. I just need one last night to rest here, then we are off to go." I pushed him, gesturing for him to listen to me this time. There were clouds of doubts in his eyes. He suddenly grabbed my arms, and I felt his fingers shaking. I gazed down at it, troubled by the fact he was scared.

"Natasha, I don't know how I would say this, " he mumbled, focusing his eyes on the ground. I gulped the knot in my throat, suddenly bothered by his statement.

"E-ethan?" my voice broke, and I felt his hands tighten around my hand. He closed his eyes, having internal conflicts about whether he would tell me what was bothering him. Or, he would keep it to himself because he doesn't want to rotten my mind.

"Ethan," I reached his cheek, encouraging him can continue. I saw his adam's apple bobbed up and down, then opened his mouth. Somehow, I understood why he was hesitant to tell me because his statement did bother me a lot. I could feel the demons in my stomach reverberating and squabbling with my head. I shook my head.

"A-are you sure about that?" I mumbled, then glanced at the door. I know she's not here inside the room, but she can be outside listening to us even though we are whispering. I just hoped Charm wasn't outside the door.

Ethan shook his head slightly.

"I'm not so sure," he explained, then ran his fingers through his hair. He let out a sighed then gritted his teeth.

I do get the point. Ethan was troubled by it, how it also affected me but what's unexpected is that he was scared. Ethan was skittish while telling me what he had heard. Although he is unsure, we probably assume things since it is spectacular to meet someone like Charm who is obscuring something.

Both of us didn't say anything for a while. I didn't realize I was looking at nowhere. Seemed so lost with my thoughts when Ethan suddenly snatched my hand and then brought it up to his lips. Our eyes locked for a moment, and I saw expectancy in them.

"I don't want to leave you alone here, but..." he told me what was on his mind. I thought it was unimaginable and treacherous, but we just can't leave this place by fleeing from them. I know we doubt them, but we owe them somehow.

If this works and we find nothing, we are free to stay here and offer them our service after helping us from the police. But if we saw something that would haunt us...

I closed my eyes and then let out a tremendous sigh. If this thing doesn't work, then we are bailing this place. I would let Ethan use his wolf form to get out of here, even if we risk getting seen on the loose.

"Take care," Ethan said, then kissed my forehead gently. I watched him twist the doorknob and then go out of the room. He shot me one last glance before finally leaving the room. I gradually stood up from the bed and then walked to the door, listening to their conversation.

"Are you sure it's okay?" I heard Charm ask. There was a hint of diffidence in her voice. Ethan didn't say a word, but I could sense he walked through her because of his heavy footsteps that echoed. After a minute of waiting, I heard the door finally close. I didn't realize my knees had weakened, and I held on to the door frame as if my life depended on it.

Okay, Natasha. Ethan did his part. I closed my eyes and then looked around the room when my eyes suddenly landed on the window. I couldn't see anything clearly outside since a tree was obstructing the scenery. However, I managed to get there and tried to open it, but something piqued my interest.

"W-what the?"

There was a lock, not just one, but different versions. I swallowed the lump in my throat when I stroked it gently. It looks like this window shouldn't be flared up, but why? What's the reason behind this lock?

I winced when I felt the pain in my back. I closed my eyes, then breathed in and out, calming my nerves. I need to continue this, or both of us will get fucked up. I composed myself before opening the door to get outside.

I looked to my left and right to see if the old man was there. When the coast was clear, I hastily but carefully went outside the cabin to examine what Ethan was talking about. I grunted every step, restraining my wails of torment because of how challenging it is to walk barefoot.

I need to find it and look for it. I don't know where the old man is, but I do hope he wouldn't appear out of nowhere and will be caught me.

When my feet set outside the porch, I looked around my surroundings and headed towards the back. I stopped when I saw nothing. Just another empty forest. I looked up at the tall trees and saw some birds flying. I followed it with my eyes until it landed on something.

I narrowed my eyes and then walked toward the bird where he was. I gasped when I realized it was camouflage. I raised my hand, then swiped the leaves away until it revealed a door. I gulped, my hands became sweaty, and I was about to open it when I heard someone call my name.

"Natasha?"
