Chapter 38: Chapter 38
“What did you say?” the leader I arrogated looked at Ethan gradually with minacious and heavy eyes. His jaw stirred, then he stepped forward, tilting his head a little to his left while inspecting Ethan from head to toe. Ethan did not stir in his place. He looks at the man with no emotion indicated in his eyes.
"E-ethan…" I whispered, capturing his attention even though I knew he wouldn't look at me. His dull eyes and the dim circles underneath made me step back, gulping the knot in my throat. I shook my head, praying quietly he wouldn't alter here, not before these maniacs. They can sue him. They aren't afraid to tell everybody.
“I said…” he took a step, his hands are on his pockets as his eyes filtered each of them. I called his name, pleading, but the other man holding my arms pushed me behind him, making me almost falter on the ground. They are all looking at Ethan right now, and I can’t see him from my spot here. I tried to push them and make way for me, but one of them pressed on my bear.
I dropped to the ground, scratching my elbows. I wince in torment, taking a look at my swollen elbow. I gasped when the grisly fluid upheaval made me cry. This will definitely leave a stamp on my skin. I heard an uproarious pound as if somebody was pushed. I look up and then get off the ground to see them ganging up on Ethan.
“Please! Stop this!” I hold one of their shoulders, trying to thrust them away since they don’t know what they are up against. Tragically, they didn’t listen as their all attention was on Ethan, who looked bored but with a tightened jaw.
“Let go of her.” Ethan finished as he was about to say prior. His voice sends chills through my spine, making me solidify on my spot for a minute. Then, their leader chuckled and played with Ethan’s hair, whirling it with his fingers. I slowly shook my head, trying to find a way to get to Ethan’s side. I know he’s fighting the urge to claw them and slaughter them on their spot, which I am glad, but his temper may snap any minute.
“What’s that, pretty boy? Couldn’t hear ‘ya clearly.” the man inclined closer to Ethan’s lips on his ears. I flinched since he might nibble his ears off. Please, they need to stop, or hell will rise!
His minions chuckled, pointing and then making fun of Ethan’s sexuality because of his pretty face. I tried to look around, seeking somebody to help us. However, no one’s here outside the gas station. Where the hell is the workers?! My eyes landed on a convenience store. I quickly ran to it and went inside. To my daunt, no one’s around.
“Hello! Is somebody here?! please, help us!” I meandered my eyes around the store. I run at each aisle, trying to find a staff or person. I let out a disillusioning sigh when I saw no one was around. I couldn’t believe this. I was about to walk away when I heard a loud wheeze. I stopped dead in my tracks, glancing from my shoulder again, but no one was seen. I swear I heard something.
My body tensed when I heard it once more. This time, I knew where it was coming from. I slowly strolled towards the counter, trying to see if somebody was behind. I halted when I looked down, seeing someone lying on the floor. I covered my mouth, panicking because I thought he was dead when he darted. He let out a snort, then took a flicker, likely befuddled about where is he. He steadily stood up, stretching his entire body. I took a step back, unable to think of anything.
“Damn, how long was I been out?”
The fellow let out a long yawn, making me cover my nose a little. When his eyes landed on mine, he looked astounded.
“Ah shit, I forgot I’m on a night shift,” he said, more likely, talking to himself.
I blink multiple times. He looked inebriated and smelled like liquor. I snapped back to reality when I recollected I was here for a reason.
“Mister, I need your help.” I hold his pulse, attempting to drag him towards the exit while indicating outside the window. The man rubbed his head, mazed about what am I gabbing all about. I looked at him, stunned, when I heard a boisterous commotion outside.
“Are you interested, Ma’am to our new bundle with twenty-five percent off-”
“Ugh! Forget it!” I let go of his hands and then ran away from the store, nauseous. When I got outside, I hollered in repugnance when I saw Ethan was crawling on the floor, rattling and grunting while slowly changing to his form. The men who were making fun of him backed away. Their leader looked startled.
“Hey! Did you lose some screws on your brain?! What are you doing?!” they panic, trying to push each other, who will escape fist.
Ethan didn’t say anything. He gradually looks at them while salivating and with threatening eyes. His furnish suddenly collapsed, and his body slowly turned into his creature form. He snarled like a beast hunting for its prey. He thrust his hands on the ground, causing it to move slightly because of the blow. I lean on the wall, holding on for support.
“Ethan! Stop!” I balanced myself and then ran up to him. They made away from me, screeching on their spot.
“What’s happening to this dude?!” the man looked at me and held my bear, but I slapped them away. I ran up to Ethan and embraced him, but he didn’t startle when I squeezed him. His wolf eyes are dashed towards the men. I tried to hold his cheeks, lowering his eyes to my face, but he didn’t budge. I called his name numerous times, asking for him to tone down. We need to leave this place quickly, away from these men.
“Ethan, I’m here. Everything is reaching to be alright.” I whispered affectionately in his ear. His chest was rising up and rising down. He was prepared to relish them when he abruptly looked down at my face. His eyes softened when our eyes jolted for a minute. I let out a sighed then rested my forehead on his nose.
“That’s great. You’re doing great, my king.” I told him to soothe his mental state. Somehow his howling toned down. He closed his eyes, resting his wolf form on my head. We stayed in that position for how many minutes.
“Let’s continue our travel. Everything is getting to be-” before I could wrap up what I was saying, I felt a hard object land on my head. I hollered in so much pain I covered my head. When I looked at my palm, the colors of my face depleted when I saw blood.
“Monsters!” I heard somebody shout behind me. I looked from my bear and saw the leader was tossing rocks at us. His flunkies followed him until we were getting showered by stones. I shield my hands, securing myself from them. I backed away, but something hit my knee and stomach, making me crash on the floor, grunting and wailing in torment.
I can feel the tears gushing down my cheeks while squeezing myself. Oh, god, am I going to pass on? When I looked down on my thighs just to see blood spouting down. My eyes broadened in aversion, trying to get a handle on what happened to me. Before I might ask Ethan, he was attacking the bikers.
“Run! Run for your life-” he was strangled on his feet before riding off his bicycle. His shouts reverberated all through the whole zone. My throat dried when I witnessed how Ethan killed him before me.
“You’re a sick creature! You deserve to die!” the other countered, tossing a few rocks at Ethan, who didn’t even flinch. He slowly looked at the fellow. A body was in between his teeth. He suddenly tossed the body before them. They backed away with an escalation in their eyes. They’re trembling and crying.
“Ethan! STOP!” I got up, trying to crawl to their spot, but my legs failed me. I drop to the ground, yelling. I tried to crawl to his spot to stop them.
“Hey, what’s going on-holy shit!” the dude from the store suddenly went out to witness something horrifying before his eyes.
“Is that…” he pointed to Ethan, who ceased on his spot then look at his way, his saliva is trickling on the ground, looking menacingly at the staff. I pursed my lips, expecting what he might do when he suddenly took out his phone and then snapped a picture of Ethan.
“A werewolf! That’s so cool! Hey man, if you don’t mind, can we have a picture together? Just going to send it to the boys' group messages.”
