Chapter 66: Chapter 66

Lora stood at the bus station, she had called the number on the card her grandma had given her earlier before she pass away, and a man had answered and told her to be at the bus station and that he is going to send someone to pick her up.

She stood there fearless, she didn't even think of the danger or harm that can come to her, for standing alone at such a place.

What could happen to her, that is worse than what she had already been through, she thought, with her grandma gone, the only thing on her mind right now is to go to her mum, she never want to see her dad again.

She’d barely stood for ten minutes, when she saw a man, park a car in front of her.

“Lora Affonso?” The man in the car asked, when he wined down the car glass.

“Yes.” She replied, looking at the man.

“Get in.” He said, and Lora stepped into the car without having any second thoughts, the car drove off almost immediately.

“Here you go, Miss.” The man who drove her said to her when he stopped in front of a hotel.

Lora opened the car door without question, and the car drove off again, she looked ahead to see a man putting on a face cap, the same type the man who drove her here is wearing, gesturing for her to come.

She walked to the man, still fearless, what she wants is to see her mum, as she approached the man, he turned and entered into the hotel, Lora followed behind him.

The man stopped at a door, he opened the door and walked into the room, Lora entered the room immediately afterwards as well.

Then the man removed his face cap, revealing his face.

“Where is my mum? I mean, Miss Camilla?” Lora asked the man, looking around the room which seemed like there's no other person there.

“Not so fast.” The man said, looking at something in his cell phone and the up at her, it seemed like he is trying to confirm her identity.

“Okay Miss Lora, you have to change your clothes, I don't think you would want to go the airport dressed like this.” The man said. “Good thing I have some clothes with me, I think they would fit.” He added looking at her briefly.

Lora quickly walked past him to change her clothes without questions, she didn’t care where she has to go in other to find her mum, and she can't wait to leave this city again.

“By the way, my name is Miguel.” The man said looking at her, a little surprised as she is not asking anymore questions, he had expected her to be inquisitive.

Lora just threw him a quick glance and went on to change her clothes, he looked quite harmless to her, she thought.

Lora and Miguel drove into the big estate, the mansion stood out, looking more beautiful and exquisite than the one her dad has.

“We are here.” Miguel said as he opened the car door and stepped out, Lora followed suit, still admiring the place, this place is so big, bigger than her dad’s, mansion, and yet there are no signs of security men or guards. She thought.

“Where are the security men?” she asked Miguel out of curiosity.

“What for?” Miguel asked, turning to look at her, she is a striking resemblance of her mum, Camila, he thought.

“It is nothing, just that the place is huge.” Lora said shrugging her shoulders.

“I know, it's bigger than your dad's, but still does not have security men like your dad do.” Miguel replied, reading her thoughts.

“We don't need that here, we use the electronic means, you see, so we really have no use for security men, just the men at the gate will do.” Miguel added, and walking into the house, with Lora walking behind, taking note of his use of the word ‘we’.

“Are you and my mum together?” she wanted to ask, but decided not to ask him that question yet until she sees her mum.

“Where is my mum?” Lora asked again, getting a little impatient, a maid has come to receive her but still no sign of her mum.

Miguel looked at her intensively, he didn't think her grandma told her anything just yet he thought.

“Didn't your grandma tell you anything?” Miguel asked.

“No, she did not tell me anything before passing away...” Lora said, she had already said the words before realizing it.

“Wait, what?” Miguel asked unable to believe his ears.

“What happened?” He asked again, trying to make sense of her statement, he just saw the lady, two days ago. He thought.

“She was killed in the early hours of this morning.” She replied, looking down as tears began to build in her eyes.

“What! You mean this morning?” Miguel asked a little confused.

“Yes, some gun men attacked our mansion this morning, I don't know the details but I woke up to the sound of gun fire in the air, and before I could get to my grandma, she has already been shot and has lost a lot of blood. She explained and wipes the tears that fell from her face.

“She couldn't even tell me all that she had to say, before passing away.” Lora said and the tears poured down from her eyes to her cheeks again as she could no longer control them.

Miguel could not stand her tears anymore as it reminds her of Camila, he just didn't know when he reached for Lora and hugged her tight, Lora hugged him in return and the tears kept on flowing down her cheeks.

“It's because of my dad, it's all because of my dad.” Lora said, still crying.

She has this feeling that there is more to their families problems than her dad is letting out, and she just can't stand him anymore.

Miguel freed her from his embrace and led her to the sofa, he slowly sit her down and sat down beside her as well.

“Listen to what I’m about to tell you, and please get a hold of yourself, because we can't loose this time, we can't afford to loose.” Miguel told Lora, holding her palms, she looked up at him, very confused at his statement.

“Your mum, Lora.” Miguel said.

“What about my mum?” Lora asked cutting in immediately, sensing that something is wrong.

“Your mum had an accident Lora.” Miguel said, still holding her palms.

“An accident?” Lora asked and her heart skipped, she stood up immediately, letting go of Miguel’s hands.

“Where is my mum?” Lora cried, not being able to control herself anymore. “What happened to my mum? Miguel take me to my mum.” She said amid tears, her whole body trembling at the same time.

“Get a hold of yourself, Lora, I’ll take you to your mum.” Miguel said, trying in vain to calm her down.

Miguel, out of frustration, scoop her off the floor and lifted her onto his shoulders, he carried her into the room where her mum is being treated.

Lora fell on the floor immediately by her mum’s bed and cried bitterly, when she saw her mum's state of health.

“When did this happen?” She asked without taking her eyes of her mum.

“On the day Antonio was buried.” Miguel replied.

“What?” Lora asked and turned to face Miguel. “On the day Antonio was buried?” she asked again and he nodded in response.

“No, no, no...” Lora cried out again, feeling her heart ache the more, she couldn't believe her mum had had an accident, and she had cursed and blamed her blindly for abandoning her a second time.

“I thought she abandoned me Miguel.” Lora cried even more, as her heart ached with pain.

“Abandon you? Your mum never abandoned you, I have watched and heard her cry herself to sleep many night holding your picture in her hands, she have tried so many times in vain to get you, but your dad, Lucio would not let that happen.” Miguel explained.

“She's been in a comma since the day of the accident, that's why I came to look for you, and I pleaded with your grandma, to help bring you to your mum, because I know your dad would not agree to it, and I’m hoping that your mum regains consciousness with you by her side.” Miguel explained further.

And Lora could do nothing but cry, she couldn't believe her ears, after seeing her mum that day, she knew there's more to it, than they are telling her.

“Mama...” Lora cried. “Please wake up Mama, your daughter is here, your Lora is here now and I’m not going to leave you again Mama...” she said as she kept on crying.

She sat there by her mum side still talking, pleading and crying for her mum to wake up, Miguel walked out of the room as he could no longer bear it, half way through the room next to Camilla’s room, he heard Lora shout.
