Chapter 59: Chapter 59

Miguel stood across the street facing Lucio’s mansion, Camilla had once described the place for him and he had located it through the Google map on the car he hired when he arrived at the airport since Lucio was well known.

He had booked a flight to this city immediately he walked out of Camilla’s room, he is really determined to fetch Lora since he had ran out of options on how to bring Camilla out of coma.

Camilla had also told him the time Lucio is expected to be at home and when he is not, she had told him then that Lucio does not stay at home during the day as he is always in one business meetings or the other except on rear occasions and Miguel hopes that that rear occasion would not be today because he does not want to see him but his daughter Lora.

Miguel stood across the street for a while and then walked to the gate hoping Lucio would not be around and he also prays to find Lora here.

He met one of the security men at the gate. “Excuse me, my name is Miguel and I have an appointment with your boss Lucio at his house, please can you tell him I’m at the gate.” Miguel told the security man, he had lied with having an appointment with Lucio to get into the mansion and he prayed earnestly in his heart that Lucio wouldn't be at home.

“Am sorry sir, but my boss isn't at home now, why don't you call his office to book another appointment.” The gate man said.

“Oh no I don't think this can wait as it is rather urgent, please can I meet with any other family member because this can't wait.” Miguel said feeling relieved that Lucio is not at home at the moment and he hopes he could see Lora, he really needs to talk to her about her mum.

“Hold on one moment.” The security guy said and put a call through into the mansion, shortly after he got off the phone he opened the gate and asked Miguel to go into the mansion.

There's a security man at the entrance, who would escort him to a family member. The security man said pointing towards the front door to the mansion.

“Thanks.” Miguel said and followed the direction of the security man at the gate, when he got to the front door he met another security man who took him to a living room and asked him to wait there.

He sat down there for about five minutes when an elderly woman walk slowly into the living room.

Miguel stood up from his seat and introduced himself. “My name is Miguel.” He said feeling a little disappointed as this is not the person he wants to see.

“Yes, how may I help you?” Grandma Rosa asked as she sat down, she also gestured at Miguel to sit down without introducing herself, she carried this air of arrogance and of someone who is in charge.

“And you are?” Miguel asked he wanted to be sure of who she is before stating his Mission as he does not want to make assumptions.

“I am Rosa Affonso, the mother of Lucio Affonso, the man I hear you seek.” She said looking at him skeptically, as she do not know why he insisted on seeing a family member even after the security men told him Lucio is not available at the moment.

“Well, I have to go straight to the point.” Miguel said as he sat down facing Grandma Rosa.

Then suddenly anger crept into his mind, when he remembered the treatment Camilla said she had received from this lady, he has to tell her why he is here because he is not afraid of she or her son.

“I came here in search of Lora Affonso, your granddaughter.” Miguel said rather calmly, his gaze fixed on Grandma Rosa.

He is doing his best to control the anger rising inside of him, he could not overlook the fact that her son Lucio, could have a hand in the cause of Camilla’s accident, and looking at this woman sitting in front of him, he couldn't help but feel that she may also be responsible for Camilla’s accident.

Nevertheless, He still need to state his mission because all he has is only assumptions not facts as only Camilla could really say what happened to her and his major concern now is for her to wake up.

“And why are you looking for my granddaughter?” Grandma Rosa asked giving Miguel a vicious look. “What business would you possibly have with my granddaughter?” she asked again almost immediately without waiting for him to reply her first question, while she assessed him.

He is a well built masculine handsome man no doubt, but he is too old to be interested in her granddaughter let alone having an affair with her, Grandma Rosa thought still looking at Miguel viciously.

“I am Camilla’s lawyer that's why am looking for her daughter, Lora Affonso.” Miguel said still maintaining his calmness and observing the woman in front of him.

“Camilla’s lawyer?” Grandma Rosa asked as she got rid of the vicious look on her face, she is now wondering why Camilla’s lawyer would show up, is it because she wants to seek for Lora’s custody again? And what would her son Lucio do when he finds out.

“Yes Camilla’s lawyer.” Miguel repeated, and continued after observing her a little, he could see a different reaction on her but what he does not know is if it's because she is surprised to her Camilla’s name or because of something else.

Anyways, he is going to find that out latter as he is confident that Camilla is safe where she is, and until she regains consciousness, he would not make careless assumptions.

“What do you want with Lora, if I may ask?” Grandma Rosa asked, looking at him now in a different light.

“Well, the thing is Camilla had an accident.” Miguel was yet to finish his statement before Grandma Rosa interrupted him.

“An Accident?” she asked not being able to believe her ears. “Where, when, and how is she now? I hope it is not critical.” Grandma Rosa asked again the questions rolling out of her mouth as she is not able to control herself.

“She's in a coma.” Miguel bluntly replied surprised at her reaction, she heard from Camilla that this woman never liked her then why is she reacting this way over Camilla’s accident? He thought, as he still observed her.

“Coma!” she exclaimed. “Where and when did she have the accident?” Grandma Rosa asked feeling very agitated.

“She had the accident on the day her friend Marta’s husband was buried, what’s his name again? Antonio, yes Antonio, that's his name.” Miguel explained rather calmly to Grandma Rosa, his eyes where fixed on her and he can see that she is even more agitated than before but what he doesn't know is why she reacts that way.

“Oh my goodness, how can that be? Camilla, Lucio, Lora.” Grandma Rosa mumbles the words out of her mouth, she could not believe Camilla had an accident on that day which led to her being in a coma, she is more agitated because she and Lucio had brawled at each other saying mean things to each other and she does not know if her son Lucio had something to do with her accident.

“And how come we never heard any news of her accident?” Grandma Rosa asked looking at Miguel.

“The thing is, I was called by a couple who where going home from the airport, saying that they found her on the road, few steps away from where her car had crashed, thankfully, they did not report the accident yet, when I got here, I paid someone to clear the accident scene and not to report it as it will cause a damage on her business, I would like her associates to think that she is on vacation.” Miguel explained, while Grandma Rosa listened to him with an absent minded expression on her face.

Miguel sat there observing her, her reaction shows that she is really shocked at the news. “Where is Lora?” Miguel asked again, because he really wants to speak with Lora, she is the main reason why he is there.

“Please Rosa Affonso, I would really like to speak to your granddaughter, you see, I need to bring her to her mum because her mum needs her now more than ever, she may be the reason for her to regain consciousness.” He continued, still looking at Grandma Rosa who seemed not to be paying attention to him.

“Mrs Rosa..., Mrs Rosa...” Miguel called to bring her attention back to him. “Where is Lora? please tell me where Lora is.” he asked again pleadingly, when he saw that he has her attention again.

“Lora is not in the country as we speak.” Grandma Rosa answered absent mindedly when she heard him call her name, as she was wondering whether or not Lucio has a hand in Camilla’s accident, because she had seen the anger in him whenever Camilla’s name is being mentioned.

“Lora’s not in the country?” Miguel asked very disappointed. “Where is she? I mean which country is she in? Can you give me her address?” he asked simultaneously, sounding a little frustrated as he speaks.

“I’m sorry I can not give you that information, but you can leave your contact and I’ll give you a call whenever I get to reach Lora.” Grandma Rosa said to Miguel without really looking at him.

“Please do, as this is a matter that needs urgent attention.” Miguel replied, giving her a card which has his cell phone numbers on it.

He walked out of the living room without pressing further to know Lora’s whereabouts, because the look on the old lady’s face suggests that she really would not give out that information, and he is just hoping that Rosa would come true with her words of bringing Lora to her mum.
