Chapter 47: Chapter 47
Lora went into the mansion in a different countenance, she has to see her dad, she has to leave this place, as she can't wait to rid herself of all the hurt she has gone through almost all her life.
It's time she moved on with her life and live for herself and for herself alone, no more papa, mama, Alfredo, and friendship, whatever that may be.
She's done with seeking for love from others, it's time she love herself and herself only. She wouldn't care any country or city her dad would choose to send her, all she wants right now is to leave this place for good.
“Papa.” Lora called, storming into her dad's study.
Lucio who was sitting in his study facing his window was startled with the way the study door opened, as he did not hear Lora’s voice, he quickly turned around and went for his gun which he hid under his study table.
He stopped himself from bringing the gun out when he saw that it was his daughter, Lora.
“What's the meaning of this young lady?” he asked bringing his hand out, which was under the table.
“I want to leave this country Papa.” Lora said, ignoring her dad's question, or how serious his face looked, as she is heart broken herself.
Lucio was taken aback with her statement, her manner of approach is so different, unlike the last time they talked, when she asked about her mum, he sees a new kind of rage in her.
“What happened to you? And where are you coming from?” Lucio asked, rather calmly after a brief silence, looking at his daughter's appearance, her hair is all messed up, her face puffy and her clothes looked so rough.
“It's nothing Papa, I just want to leave this country and I want to leave as soon as possible.” She said throwing her hand bag on one of the chairs in the study as she sat down on the chair facing her dad's table.
Lucio relaxed himself properly on his chair, his eyes fixed on Lora, he has never seen his daughter like this before and he never knew she possess such a fierce character, also he wondered what could have happened to her for her to exhibit such character, or could it still be because of her mum? He thought.
“What country would you like to go? Do you have any in mind?” Lucio asked, his gaze still on Lora, observing her, she sat fearlessly on the chair facing him and looking straight into his eyes, something she has never done before too.
Anyways it's a good thing she is willing to leave the country, because he had made preparations for that before now, and he had concluded to send her out of the country even if it means dragging her out himself, until he is certain about her mother's condition. He thought.
“Any country of your choice Papa.” She replied looking at her dad, trying to figure out what might be going on in his mind because of the way he sat back on his chair peering at her.
She never expected their conversation to go smoothly like this, because of the way she barged into his study, she knew it was rude, but she was prepared for the outcome and she really do not care what he thinks of her, she is done caring what people think about her including her dad, all she wants is to leave this place.
“When do you want to leave.” Lucio asked, still observing her.
“If it's possible, I would like to leave tomorrow.” Lora said, still looking at her dad.
“Okay, you'll leave in the morning.” He said, happy at the way things went, at least he won't have to fight with her before she leaves.
It's as if luck was on his side on this very matter, now he will be focused on his activities and also sort the issue regarding Antonio's death, and probably Camilla, because up until now, Rodrigo have still not found out her whereabouts and no traces or news of her accident yet, and it gives him so much concern as he doesn't know whether she is dead or alive.
“One more thing, Papa.” Lora said, sounding so fearless and authoritative, even Lucio himself is marveled at the manner in which she speaks to him today, he never thought his daughter would speak to him like this, but he decided to let it go, besides it's what he wanted, for her to leave the country for a while.
“Go on.” Lucio said, sitting up and putting his both arms on the table, as he gazed directly into her eyes, wondering what she wants to say this time.
“I would leave on one condition, Papa.” She said also looking into her dad’s eyes, not scared by his posture, something she would never do before and she is a little surprised herself because she is really determined to live a different life style.
Before, she would plead with her dad first, and beg for his approval on something or she would ask Grandma Rosa to plead on her behalf, not until that day when she saw how her dad behaved with her mum, did she have a second thought.
She saw another side of her dad which she have never seen before, that's why she wanted to talk to her mum, so that she can find out what really happened, to know if all her dad have said about her is true, but she is not available to, it's as if she really abandoned her a third time and no one could be of help to her, not even Grandma Rosa is willing to tell her the truth, well she don't care any more, she thought.
“And what would that be?” Lucio said, trying his best to control his temper because of the authority in her tone and also because he have started to see Camilla’s face in his daughter, that arrogant and stubborn way of talking, that he had hated because he likes to be in control and not the other way around, but he will have to let this slide, just for the moment as he does not have time for this now.
“You are going to let me have full control of my life, I will have to live on my own terms, and no security please.” She said, still looking at him.
She has discovered that the person who had followed her to her street on those occasions when she was scared to death has been the body guard her dad have sent to watch over her secretly and she wondered the need for that.
She found this out on the day of Antonio's burial, the man she had seen in the bus that day when she went home from school, who had alighted the bus with her that same day was one of her dad's body guards.
“Is that all?” Lucio asked tightening his jaws and looking at her skeptically, as she nodded in reply.
He remembered her mum, she had also wanted the same thing, to live her life as she pleased, like mother like daughter, he thought and leaned back on his chair.
“Okay, agreed.” Lucio said as he opened the drawer on his table and brought his cigarette and lighter as usual and started smoking, Lora stood up almost immediately, grabbed her hand bag on the chair and left the study, she could not bear the smell of the cigarette.
