Chapter 14: Chapter 14
Ted's standpoint
'Oh my God! What happened to your voice?' Carlos asked between his laugh. Soon they were all laughing, the most embarrassing state. I turned and stomped to that witch's room, she did this!
'Cookie!' Immediately I opened her door, a large lion jumped in front of me, causing me to fall back with a gasp. I hit the wall, my heart almost failed me. The lion flicker before it disappeared, hologram. The witch began laughing, very, very loudly.
'You call yourself a king? You can't even handle a lion…'
'I really hate you,' I seethed.
'Pause your hating, your opinion is irrelevant.' I felt the urge to wring her, that urge I did follow and chased her into her room. She did something really strange, threw herself over her window and hung loosely there.
'What are you doing?' I asked in confusion, she winked at me and began screaming and crying.
'Daddy!' Oh, crap! 'What are you doing!!!' Yolanda screamed.
'She threw herself over, not me.'
'You are sick, Carlos!' Carlos walked in.
'Ted, why did you throw the innocent girl out of her window? After mercilessly flogging her this morning?!'
'You did what!'
'I didn't do anything,' I was too flustered to even understand what was going on, I think it's the tea. Carlos pulled her back into the room, she was shedding crocodile tears.
'You are evil, I demand you apologize to her, now!' Yolanda yelled.
'No,' I itched my head, I was confused.
'Then I will inject myself again because I'm tired of being your daughter!'
'Fine! I'm sorry!'
'Promise you won't lay a hand on her ever again,' she insisted. 'Promise me!'
'Whatever,'
'Words,'
'Yes, promise.' Carlos chuckled, he was very much aware that the girl was faking, but he will never cease at a chance to humiliate me. So, I didn't just get pranked by a girl, I got scolded by a child. Use your opponent's weakness. The girl knew Yolanda was mine and was working well with it. Well, not for long.
Cookie's standpoint
I love it when things go my way, I'm lucky. I sat in the third living room after Yolanda's lecture, eating the chicken wings prepared for Ted. It had been three days since I showed him that even if my charms didn't work on him, it still worked on every other living soul. It's funny though, he is literally the only one who hates me with so much passion… Let me rephrase that, the only man who hates me. It was challenging, exciting and frustrating him more made me feel damn good. I've never felt so alive.
Over the past three days, we managed to see each other. He would always glare at me and mutter “witch” to my hearing, and I would leisurely blow him a kiss or wink his way. However, from the beginning of that day, he had been smirking at me evilly, and it was highly suspicious. Like now, he was leaning on the door frame with his hands in his pockets as he stared at me, that evil smirk still on his face.
'Okay, why are you looking at me like that?' I finally asked.
'Oh, nothing much,' he said with a nonchalance shrug. 'Just that the names Monica Sydney Carlisle is ringing a loud bell.' I physically stiffened. That's my mother's name. I ran my tongue over my lips.
'And so?' I asked, feigning indifference.
'Hmm,' he looked ahead with mock thinking. 'I wonder how her daughter would react if she finds out that her mother is under my custody, I just wonder.' My hands began trembling, my sweet mom.
'Well, that's her problem,' my voice betrayed me completely.
'I'm sure she won't mind knowing the fact that I injected explosive into her mother's system. Just one push of a button, and she would pop,'
'That's mean.'
'Poor Carolyn, under custody as well, that shouldn't bother the daughter—'
'You are just messing around,' I said with an eye roll. Inside, I was terrified. How did he find them?
'Do I look like I'm joking?'
Fuck this!
'Leave my mother out of our war,' I whined. 'Leave Carolyn alone too!'
'If you really want me to send them back and not press the remote, then you will do exactly as I say.'
'But that's not fair! You don't drag family into a battle!' I screamed. I did not think he would go after my family, no one knew about them. How did he find them? Who am I kidding? He's the Mafia king for crying out loud. And the smirk on his face said it all, “all fair in love and war”.
I broke into a sob. 'What do you want from me?' I sobbed out. He swung himself off the doorframe and walked towards me with his hands still in the pockets of his joggers. He got to me and squatted, a very victorious smirk on his face. I was supposed to be his rainbow.
'From now on, you are my personal maid,'
'Your what?'
'You will tell Yolanda you willingly applied for the job. Is that clear?'
'Just your maid?' I asked with a whimper, it wasn't that bad after all.
'Yes, a maid.' Something about his sly smirk wanted me to reject, what are the odds of him really having them anyway. However, I wasn't going to risk it, not at all. If he could shoot at me thrice, made me work my breath out and flog me, I knew he was capable of doing anything.
'And you promise to leave them alone?'
'As long as you be a good girl, I won't kill them.' I sniffed and nodded.
'Okay, I will do it.' not that I have a choice
'Good girl,' he picked up a chicken wing and put it in his mouth. 'Rule number one, you only eat once a day and that will be when I give you food…'
'Aaah,' I held my chest. 'My heart, you just broke my heart.'
'That is just rule number one. Two, avoid men…'
'For what!'
'Should I remind you that maids don't speak? If you challenge me, you get your ass whipped again, 10 strokes for one disobedience.'
'And…?'
'Three, when I speak, stare at your feet and not my eyes.'
'I am not afraid of you,' I rolled my eyes. But I fear for my family's lives.
'That's your shit, you must follow the rules.'
'Maybe you should wisely make a book stating all the rules,' I said sarcastically, with another eye roll.
'Sweetheart, I already did,' he stood up and cackled. 'Your new uniform will be delivered to you, make sure you wear it.' He winked at me and bounced off, that was only the beginning. It'd been years since, but Teddy Allen, you just made it to my big book of enemies as number one.
This isn't over.
