Chapter 392: Chapter 392
Chapter 392 The Appointment
Leon smiled as soon as Rachel called him and turned around at the next intersection then went to her rental office. The office was small, but it was enough for Rachel to give Leon a warm welcome.
Rachel smiled as she saw Leon walk in her office and hugged him. She was a great cook and that made Leon relax, even for just a little while.
It was as if he just returned to his normal, everyday life.
Both of them talked while they ate and laughed at their own silly jokes. Leon felt sorry for Rachel because of how much of a hard worker she was. Not to mention, she worked under the Carter family, which made him worried for her safety.
"Rachel, why don't you change your job and come to the Flying Group?" Leon suggested.
"It's too late for me to change jobs now." Rachel told him, "My supervisor told me that I could get a promotion soon. Two months ago, he said that as long as I could get Fay to participate in a TV series that the company invested, he would give me a promotion and a raise." She added.
"Did Fay agree to participate?" Leon asked.
Rachel nodded. "After a while, Fay told me that we could meet for lunch tomorrow and have a talk. I think there's a good chance that she'll accept."
Leon smiled as he saw that Rachel was happy with her job. She was confident that her deal with Fay was going to be a success and that made him feel relieved.
The thing about Fay was she was very difficult to hire. Not to mention, the Carter family didn't have enough resources to hire talented artists.
At least, not until Rachel showed up. She tried to get in touch with Fay the best way she could, and she finally moved her.
With that said, Leon didn't want to waste Rachel's effort, so he didn't push his suggestion.
"Is there any way I could help?" Leon said, worry evident on his face.
"No, we're almost finished, anyway. Just wait for my good news tomorrow at noon." Rachel said as she smiled.
After Rachel and Leo ate, they decided to drink some wine for a while and were already tipsy. Rachel's face was already turning red because of the wine and after a while, she lost consciousness and fell into Leon's arms.
As soon as Leon caught Rachel, he heard someone barge in.
However, he certainly didn't expect that the person who barged in would be Tina.
When Tina entered the door and saw Leon holding Rachel, she fumed with anger and began to pull her sister away from Leon.
"Leon, what the hell are you doing to my sister?!" Tina yelled at him, "If I hadn't come, who knows what you could have done to her, you pervert!"
As soon as Leo heard Tina talk to him like that, he slapped her across the face.
Leo and Rachel were lovers. How intimate they were with each other was none of Tina's business, so this pissed him off.
When Tina was slapped across the face, she felt pain – so much pain that she let go of Rachel and pressed her hand against her face.
"R-Rachel, Leon hit me!" Tina said as she began to cover her face and cry.
At this time, Rachel was no longer drunk because she saw the whole scene unfold in front of her. Although she used to appease Tina, she couldn't forgive her for ruining their moment.
Of course, she also felt bad for Tina, but anyone would be angry if their sister barged in out of nowhere and ruined an intimate moment.
Leon, however, didn't have any regrets about slapping Tina across the face. It was fine if it was just one time, but after several times, that ruined Leon's patience.
"Tina, didn't you say you wouldn't come back tonight? " Rachel asked Tina while trying to comfort her.
"I forgot my wallet, so I came back." Tina replied as she tried her best to keep her tears at bay. "Rachel, did Leon do anything to you? He didn't hurt you, did he?"
Rachel clenched her teeth and gave Tina a stern look. "He didn't do anything. Besides, we're a couple, Tina! If he was the kind of person who beat up women, I wouldn't have been with him all this time."
"But Rachel, he's an asshole!" Tina said angrily.
Meanwhile, Leon couldn't help but leave Rachel's place even though he didn't want to. He hated Tina's guts and he knew that he couldn't last a second with her at all.
Rachel simply sighed as she saw Leon walking away. "I can't believe things ended like this." She murmured to herself.
As time passed by, Rachel finally had to go to her appointment and meet Fay.
They decided to meet at a restaurant called, "Delicious Western Restaurant" in which Rachel had to spend $1000 just to book a table for her and Fay, alongside all the fancy meals that she might like.
Rachel spent a lot of money just to meet with Fay and she couldn't help but get excited about the fact that she might accept the offer.
Of course, Tina also came with because she begged her sister to bring her along.
However, Rachel and Tina waited for Fay for a whole hour, but they noticed that she hadn't arrived. Rachel called her, but Fay didn't answer her calls at all.
At first, Rachel understood that Fay was a superstar and couldn't make it to appointments on time, but another hour passed, and Fay was still nowhere to be seen.
The company that Rachel was working for became impatient and they told her that she had to get things done by four o'clock – which meant that she only had an hour left.
The worst thing was if Rachel wasn't able to persuade Fay, they'd look for another person who would get the job done.
This made Rachel anxious and scared that she wouldn't be able to get a promotion and a raise, so she decided to call Leon.
Rachel thought that even though Leon was a driver, he was driving for his boss. Not to mention, Leon told Rachel that his boss had connections in Texas, so he just might be able to help.
However, this made Tina cringe in disgust. "Why're you calling that guy now, Rachel? He won't be of any help anyway."
