Chapter 362 Self-destruct

Julia walked out from the scene, leaving the rest of them stuck in wonder. It was something out of the ordinary and from the way things fell, it was impossible to be able to build things up once more.

Joy nodded quickly, stood up and walked up to Julia, still hesitating whether to do it or not. But he had to make sure that if everything is still going well.

In terms of identity, Julia Young was certainly not as good as Thomas. It takes more than climbing a big tree to earn his respect once more. A simple argument with him, was already a sign of defeat.

"Joy, don't you dare!" Julia said as she pulled herself away from her.

"Julia, I'm really embarrassed." Joy stated with a wry smile and a helpless expression on his face.

They felt lost as the moment only grew more unbearable every minute. They knew that they could not just stand by the corner and weep. They had to go back to the table and face them.

After a few minutes, the two headed back as they raised their head and faced them with nothing but a look of pride. It seemed as if nothing had happened. There was not as single mark of shame and despair on their expressions as they took their seats.

"We apologize for the way we behaved earlier. I cannot say that I wasn't offended, but to achieve the success that me and Joy had planned, I suggest we just let bygones be bygones." Julia calmly said as she reached for a handshake towards Leon.

Leon was hesitant at first, but she did make a point. This was all about business after all and it should not be too personal.

Not uttering a single word, he reached for her hand as they both smiled and nodded.

Thomas had let out a deep sigh, signaling the placidity he had finally felt. Seeing Leon undisturbed, made him trust his instincts.

"Anyway, tell me about the project." Thomas politely said.

It was a surprise to everyone seeing Thomas so calm after the confrontation. Joy and Julia no longer waited to waste the opportunity. The two explained about the cooperation and the project that they had been planning for quite some time now. It is an impossible note unless Thomas would be involved. This would bring him a large amount of share since the plan was made to be foolproof. His commitment is the only key they need for everything to go smooth.

However, for Thomas, he would only give his commitment if it were to someone worthy enough for it. And one of the ways to earn his adherence, was through Leon himself.

"Mr. Williams, it's up to you to decide." Thomas said with great respect.

Thomas did not treat Leon has his chauffeur, but also his consultant and brother-in-arms. To him, this man's kind heart was what the business industry needed to bring great results towards the people and the society that benefits from them.

After having a deep thought, Leon nodded and agreed for Thomas to accept the proposal. Joy and Julia were overjoyed as they felt the atmosphere shift. Once Thomas saw Leon's remark, he never bothered questioning him.

Joy was astounded to see the connection they both have. It was unexpected as he had thought that Thomas only sympathized with the weak, but he did not expect that the relationship between the two was extraordinary.

From the way they saw them, Thomas looks at Leon with deep respect that was similar to the way on how a person must treat someone who is wiser and older. Leon may not have come from a wealthy family, yet he was a man who carried a vast amount of dignity and humility.

"Alright then. Everything's good!" Thomas said in complete awe. "You must follow the instructions that me and Mr. Williams has given. Once you do that, you would get more than a chance to cooperate with me and my family. But if you fail to do so, we can no longer keep our connections with you."

"What is it?" Joy wondered.

"We want you to work for us after this project." Thomas demanded.

The two were puzzled as he spoke about his request.

Joy was in a pressured state. Whatever her decision becomes, it would impact greatly upon herself and the future she holds.

Joy turned abruptly, stretched out his hand and suddenly hit Julia Young right across her face.

The sound of his hand hitting her face echoed across the room. It was the only thing that they had heard at that moment. Everyone else was shocked as they witnessed the events unravel. No one saw that coming, especially Julia who had seen Joy treat her this way.

Infused with anger, Julia started to lose her control. But instead of being mad towards Joy, she released her rage upon Leon. She was sure that he had probably brainwashed Joy into doing such an uncivilized act.

Julia's thoughts started to become mixed with what exactly the relationship between Leon and Thomas. It is obvious that he is just his chauffeur, but why would Thomas defend him like that? Her mind was running with thoughts, but not convinced that there was nothing further to their relationship.

"Joy, with the way you have been, there is no way your hopeful marriage will go through." Julia covered her flushed face and was furious at the situation, but under the exasperation of Julia, the thoughts she buried in the bottom of her heart burst out.

She did not want to say it, but at this moment she could not control her emotions.

Joy was instantly enraged and could not help fighting back: "Don't think too much of yourself." He said with a snobby tone.

"You bought a murder house and regarded it as your treasure. You're just absorbing all the bad luck and negativity around you" she scolded.

Confused for a moment, Joy unexpectedly tried to explain her reasoning and the events that led up to the purchase of the house. Julia although enraged, could not believe it, and there was even a moment of amazement coming from her as she listened to his stories. However, it was also revealed how Joy was able to attain the mansion at such an expensive price and win over the family's trust without Julia's knowledge.

When Julia heard Joy spill the truth herself, she refused to believe the scenes and situations that had let to an outstanding and unfair outcome. Knowing that the family had spent millions of dollars on it without her knowledge, was a huge sign of betrayal on her side.

"You lied to me!" Julia said as she was enraged.

As they unconsciously shifted from the topic, Julia was once again fueled up with anger on how Joy had done things behind her back. With desperation in her eyes to fix the real estate problem, she could only think of asking Leon for some advice on how she would be able to create a solution. If he were able to help Thomas with his decision making, maybe he could help her out too.

However, that meant swallowing her pride once more for an inferior man.
