Chapter 83: Chapter 83

Beta Rufus sat on the bed, looking anxiously at the bathroom door. He was playing with his wife when all of a sudden, she gagged and ran over to the bathroom.

He had wanted to follow her but it seemed she locked the door behind her. He heard some sounds and figured out she was throwing up.

"Are you sure you're okay babe?" Beta Rufus asked, hoping to hear a response.

"Yeah, I'm good, I'll be out soon so don't worry about me and return to the bed" Celine said from the bathroom.

She had been throwing up since yesterday and she had also been feeling weak lately. She doesn't want to bother her husband so she didn't tell him.

She would go to the hospital when he leaves for work. She rinsed her mouth and flushed the toilet.

Straightening up, she applied toothpaste to her brush and brushed her teeth thoroughly. She finished and washed her face, picked up a towel from the rack and dried off water from her face.

Feeling refreshed, she walked out of the bathroom after composing herself. Is she pregnant? She doesn't know yet so she doesn't have to conclude until after the text result.

It's true she had missed her period but that isn't enough reason to conclude.

"We're you throwing up? Are you really fine? You look drained and sick. Let me take you to the hospital" Beta Rufus rushed her immediately she came out of the bathroom.

"I'm fine, you don't need to worry about me" Celine said, sitting down beside him.

Beta Rufus touched her face and shook his head. "I don't think you're fine, let me take you to the hospital. I'll get my car key" he said and stood up.

Celine stopped him before he could take a step. Holding his hands, she smiled meekly at him.

"I'm fine Rufus. I am really".

"I insist" Beta Rufus said and walked to the table to grab his car key. "Let's go babe" he said.

"No...no, I will go to the hospital myself so don't bother. I'm really fine but if you insist, I'll go later" Celine replied.

"Okay, if you say so but promise me you'll go. You know I can't forgive myself if anything should happen to you" Beta Rufus said and Celine nodded firmly.

"Come here" Beta Rufus smiled and Celine walked gently to him. He grabbed her waist, making her sit on his laps.

He began playing with her hair while sniffing in her scent.

He couldn't get enough of her and the more he gets to know her, the more in love he grow.

He stared down at the neck of the woman he loves. He wants to mark her so badly but he's still waiting for her approval. Even though they are married and should make each other already, the situation behind their marriage made him refrain from making her as his.

"He bent down to kiss her neck but was interrupted by the wide grin of his sister.

His eyes widened at her grin. What the hell is she doing in his room and when did she get in without his notice.

"Myrene what are you doing here, why can't you knock before entering a room that isn't yours?" Beta Rufus glared hard at his sister.

"On hearing his words, Celine who had been carried away by his breath which was fanning on her neck and the soothing hands on her hair quickly sprang up.

"Seeing how Celine reacted, beta Rufus glared hard at Myrene.

"Chill brother. I did knock but it seemed you were too busy to hear that" Myrene said smiling widely.

"Whatever. What brought you here? And it better be something good to avoid me punishing you" Beta Rufus scolded.

"I came to ask for sister in-law's help. Celine's eyes shoot up when she heard what Myrene said.

"You came to ask for my help? What can I do for you?" Celine asked going over to Myrene.

"Get out, she's not too well to help you with anything. Go meet mum" Beta Rufus shrieked, standing up to hold his wife.

"But babe, I told you I'm fine. I can help her with anything. Don't worry about me" Celine said trying to get her husband to understand.

Rufus seemed more possessive and protective of her. He never allowed her to do anything in the house and even when she protests, he claims they were all stressing his mate out.

"Brother she said she's fine. You keep treating sister in-law like a baby, it's not as if she's running away" Myrene said rolling her eyes.

"Beta Rufus glared hard at his sister. If only they know why he's that way to her. If only they know he's trying to stop her from leaving after six months. It's four months already and she would leave him in the next two months.

He wants to make sure he treats her so way and pamper her like an egg that she would no longer consider leaving.

"Yes, she's my baby. Do you have a problem with that?" He snapped.

"Geez!" Celine mumbled frustratedly. She really needs her sister in-law's help so badly. She's going for lunch with Mason and she needs to dress her best. She had been ransacking her closet for a perfect dress ever since she came back from the supermarket and she doesn't seem to see a more suitable dress.

She wanted to apologise to Mason and also make sure he hadn't fallen out of love. She wants to impress him and it starts from dressing her best. Now her brother is making things difficult for her.

Why is he so possessive of his mate? He isn't the only one who has a mate. Even she has one. Jeez!

"I'll be back soon babe. Let me help your sister alright?" Celine said to Beta Rufus on seeing the near to tears Myrene.

"If you say so then but be very careful and Myrene, don't make my wife do a lot of work. I won't take it lightly with you" Beta Rufus warned.

"Roger that Beta" laughed Myrene as she saluted her brother and dragged Celine who wouldn't stop gigling out of the room.

They entered Myrene's room and Myrene quickly rushed to her closet, throwing it open.

"Please sister in-law, will you help me pick out a suitable dress? I can't seem to find a good one" Myrene rubbing her hands together while looking at Celine with her puppy eyes.

"A dress? What's the occasion?" Celine asked as she walked over to Myrene.

"Well... The thing is, I offended my mate. I kinda denied him and told him to get away from me without knowing he was my mate. For the past two weeks, he had kept to his words and stayed away so I happened to run into him at the mall today and asked him out for lunch. I want to apologize to him" Myrene explained, wiping the tear that trickled down her eyes.

"Oh, pretty messy. I'm sure he would forgive you so you don't really need to dress much. Let's see what you've got in your closet" Celine consoled and began searching through the closet.

Few minutes in, Celine brought out a white gown. "Tadaa!!!!" She squeaked, showing the dress to the already grinning Myrene.

"The gown had some flowery design and had a slit up to the tigh.

"Simple and elegant, that's what you would scream wearing this gown" Celine said.

"I never knew I had something like this, I hadn't worn it before" Myrene said after putting on the dress as Celine helped her zip up.

"You look so beautiful in it. Pure and elegant. It did justice to your curves and I'm sure this is enough to draw his attention back to you" Celine smiled.

"I hope so".

"Sit let me style your hair. I used to love styling my younger sister's hair until she thought I couldn't do it to her taste anymore" Celine said remembering how she used to love styling Jasmine's hair. Well until she became their father's tool to greed and thought she wasn't in her league anymore.

She missed Jasmine even though they weren't in good terms till her death. She wishes she could have a chance to tell Jasmine how much she loves her. Too bad their father lead her to her doom.

Myrene sat down as Celine began working on her hair. True to her words, her hair came out perfectly styled.

Myrene looked totally different after the little make over. Celine made sure to apply miniminal amount of makeup making Myrene look stunning.

"Oh my gosh! I can't believe this is me sister in-law. Why are you not a makeup artist?" Myrene asked while admiring herself in the mirror.

She could barely recognize herself. The makeup, though little, came out perfectly well and blended right to her skin.

Myrene couldn't stop gawking at herself in the mirror. She was sure Mason would fall on his feet on sighting her.

"Thank you so much sister in law. I can't thank you enough. My brother and I are so lucky to have you" Myrene hugged Celine, smiling widely.

Celine giggled at her words. Myrene is such a sweet lady. Every member of Rufus's family treats her so well that she wouldn't dare leave them.

She has also grown attached to Rufus that she doesn't want to let go. If what she thought is true then they would be preparing the welcome of their little bundle together.

Myrene picked up her purse, threw Celine a kiss and hurried out of the room. Mason had already called and she lied she was stucked in traffic.

She got down the sitting room and seeing her brother, parents and ground mother all sitting and chatting, Myrene smiled and waved at them before stomping out. Not after receiving surprised looks from them.

The family wondered why she was going looking all dashing that they could barely recognize her.

Beta Rufus quickly stood up. Myrene must have released his mate. He missed her so much that he had wanted to go into Myrene's room and drag her out.

How dare Myrene make his mate do all those work on her. Couldn't she get dressed by herself? It's not as if she hadn't been doing so when Celine wasn't there.

Well he won't lie, Myrene did looked different from before and he couldn't believe Celine did all that work.

Skipping the staircase, Beta Rufus headed to his room in search of his mate but this greatest disappointment, she wasn't in the room.

He checked the bathroom and when she wasn't also there, he rushed out and ran to Myrene's room.

He opened the door and saw her arranging Myrene's bed.

Eeish!, That brat. She couldn't even arrange her own room and did she make his mate arrange her room? He would make sure he strangles her when she returns from wherever she went looking all stunning.

"What the hell are you doing in here? Did Myrene make you arrange her room?" Beta Rufus asked rushing to his wife.

Celine sighed on noticing him here he was again, trying to treat her like a baby.

She turned to him frowning. "She didn't make me arrange her room. She was in a hurry to meet her mate and I wanted to arrange her bed so don't think of scolding her" Celine said poking his cheek.

Mate? Myrene found her mate?" Rufus asked, surprised.

"Yeah she did but she kinda said some hurtful words to him making him keep a distance so she's going to apologize" Celine explained.

"That brat. Her mouth would put her in trouble one day. Well it has already put in trouble with her mate. I hope he doesn't forgive her, let's get some peace in this house atleast" Beta Rufus said, circling his hands around celine's waist.

"Come on Rufus don't say that. I'm sure you don't want Myrene to get hurt right? If he doesn't forgive her then do you want her going around the house sulking? I know you love her too much to allow such" Celine said.

"Tsk, tsk. Trust me mate, Myrene can be a pain in the ass".

"To you. To me, she's the sweetest sister in-law I could ask for" so you should be happy she found her mate so she would transfer her troubles to him.

"If she gets married, I'll miss her being around the house" Celine added.

"Oh, let the young man do fast and take her away from here. I can't imagine how cool the house would be without Myrene causing trouble everywhere" Beta Rufus rolled his eyes.

Haha, I'm sure you don't mean that" Celine laughed.

"Leave the bed, let's go to our room. I missed to so much" Beta Rufus said as he tried stopping her from further arranging the bed.

"I'll soon be done, just wait and aren't you going to work?" Celine asked.

"Yeah, the alpha is too busy with his mate that he doesn't have anything for me to do.

"Oh, right. She needs a lot of rest and care after every risk she took saving his life.

"Yeah. You're done now so let's leave" Beta Rufus muttered and swiped Celine off her feet.

She wasn't done but he couldn't wait anymore.

***********************

Myrene got out of the car and headed into the restaurant where she would be meeting with Mason. Well it's almost evening so they would be having dinner.

She really got into traffic making her spend alot of time. All those time, Mason kept calling to know if she was fine.

Finally, she got there a little before her patient runs out. Getting to the door, she swallowed an invisible lump on sighting Mason sitting few sits away from where she stood. Beside the window which had a great view of the sea.

Taking her steps slowing, she walked towards him while clutching her bag.

Mason looked up when he felt the sweet aroma which suddenly wafted through his nose. Mate! His wolf screamed.

He swallowed and looked up only to be swallowed in her gaze. She looked so different, so stunning and alluring that he couldn't help but gawk for a moment before looking away.

"How could she come to reject him dressed like that. Does she want him to commit suicide?

"Hey!" She muttered on getting to him and he quickly stood up and pulled out a seat for her.

Myrene sat down all smiles. How on earth did she not see this gentleman who had always been by her side all these while? How on earth did she tell him off? She must have been drunk all these while because sitting before him was the most handsome man she had ever seen. How could she not see how handsome and lovely he was all these while? She felt like slapping herself hard.

There he was sitting, wearing a black tuxedo and a white inner shirt, his hair was curled back, his face, spotless and we'll chiseled. She must have really been blind because that was the only reason she couldn't have seen all these features.

"You look stunning" Mason complemented drawing Myrene out of her thought.

She had been looking at him ever since she sat down and he was already becoming uncomfortable. What if she was thinking on how to break the news to her?

The waiter came and took their orders, returned minutes later and served them before leaving again.

Mason picked up his fork and stared at Myrene who had started looking at him again.

"Let's eat" he said and she nodded, also picking up her fork and digging into the food.

Halfway through, they both were lost in their own thought not putting so much interest in their food. The silent was becoming unbearable that Myrene had to break it.

"Mason" she called and he looked up. His heart already in his hands as he shut his eyes tight waiting to receive the bad news. He knew she say it sooner or later but he didn't expect it would be that soon. She could have waited for them to atleast finish the food.

Maybe she doesn't want to seat with him. Maybe he disgust her and she wants to run off.

Mason, about what I said the other day" Myrene started. She paused to observe his expression but he seemed to be neutral.

She doesn't like the way he was keeping quiet. Mason used to be a very lively and jovial person and because of how she spoke to him, he had suddenly become quiet.

Mason could no longer breath but he tried hard to keep his emotions in check. If he was going to wail and weep, he shouldn't do that in her presence so he remained as calm as possible while his heart thump hard.

"I'm sorry Mason" she muttered and Mason's eyes flew open. What's she sorry about? The rejection? Obviously.

"I didn't know what came over me that made me speak to you in such a manner, please forgive me, let's go back to the way we were. We are mates Mason" Myrene finally said making Mason eyes almost burger out.

"Do... does it mean you aren't here to reject me?" He asked, picking his words gently. He was too stunned to speak.

"Reject you? Why would I do that?" Myrene exclaimed.

"Well, because you told me to stay away from you so I thought you wanted to reject me officially" Mason replied.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to make you think like that, I didn't know what I was thinking. I hope you forgive me" Myrene pleaded.

"Haha... Hahahaha....oh my gosh Myrene, thank you so much. You don't know how nervous I had been ever since you mentioned us having lunch. I feel so relieved now, like I successfully came down from a burning story building alive. Thank you so much and ofcourse, I forgive you. If at all I had been angry at you" Mason said rushing his words.

He stood up abruptly and rushed to Myrene, pulling her in a tight hug. He feel so relaxed and relieved.

Myrene hugged him back, smiling widely. She thought he would never forgive her never did she know he wasn't at all angry but was scared of rejection.

Why would she reject him when she can't live without him. Those weeks they stayed apart was the worst week of her life. It was only then she came to know how much he means to her.

She sniffed in his scent, happily hugging him back.
