Chapter 16: Chapter 16
I woke up to the motion of the bed, it's like it was floating so I opened my eyes, feeling a weight on my stomach. The sun rays were escaping from the windowpane and the outside was so blue and bright. I squint my eyes since it was too bright for them but I nearly jumped out of bed when I see Adam naked beside me.
What happened!?
I gasped in horror, I looked under my blanket and I was wearing Adam's shirt, without my bra, but my panties are on, Thank goodness. I took a peek at Adam and he was still wearing his pants. I let out a sigh of relief but I froze when he opened his eyes to look at me.
"Well, good morning, Eve. It's been a wild night." What!?
"What wild night!?" I chirped in a loud voice and he tilted his head like he was curious or something.
"You don't remember what happened?" He sat down and his eyes looked shocked that I believed him, and I felt angry.
"Stop shitting with me, Adam!" How could this happen?! I hopped down the bed and he was staring at me dumbfounded.
"But I'm not, Eve." He leaned on the headboard, and I think hard as I grit my teeth. The thing is I am not mad because it happened, I am angry because I don't even remember it happening. I raised both my hands in surrender and just shake my head in disappointment.
"I'm going to shower." I walked away but he pins me in the bed in a flash.
"You can't just walk out on me." He puts his body weight after he is above me and I giggled at his gesture. "Nothing happened... I told you I wouldn't do it with you just yet." I smiled, and caress the back of his head while he is lying on me.
"But, what really happened?" All I can ever remember is that we were eating and he said, that he had always been in love with me. In love with me... My lips curled slightly for the thought.
"You fainted." He stared at me and I looked. My eyes widened when I remember me fainting all of a sudden just right after a beautiful confession. Nice, Eva. Nice. I rolled my eyes on myself and he snorted. "I think you're tired or you've eaten too much."
"I guess." I beamed at him and try pushing him to the side since he's getting heavier. He willingly goes to the side and I sat down.
"I've already prepared some clothes for you in the bathroom."
"Clothes!?"
He stood up, his upper muscular body shimmering from the sun rays escaping from the pane. "Of course, you never brought any."
"You don't even know my size!" I giggled and he laid a kiss on my forehead.
"One touch and I already know." He proudly grinned at me and he pulled me to stand. I head to the bathroom and locked the door behind me, I took a peek at the paper bag on the bathroom cabinet and there are really some clothes. A bra, panty, black jeans, and a khaki-colored shirt. These are so comfy. I continued taking a shower and slip on the prepared shirt and jeans.

We were at the deck, sitting and letting the warm sun on our skins. I watch the clouds roll by and feel the breeze that the wind swept from the sea towards us. It must have been lonely for Adam. The thought crossed my mind when I remember him being a different kind here in this world. He was probably alone and carrying the burden of being an outcast, but if you look at him, you'll never see him as someone apart, he seemed human, looked human, but a little more perfect in his figure. He was so handsome and dreamy, his blue shiny eyes, his grey hair that glistens under the sun, and his skin, fair and flawless. I should ask him about the first time he has ever gotten here or was someone with him when he got here?
"Adam, are you the only one of your own who stepped on this world?" I scooted closer to him, eager to know everything about the past millennia.
"I wasn't the first one to be here, it was my brother." His eyes were serious and I can't even say anything, what? He has a brother? That can also mean, that there may be more of his kind who followed, right? I imagine what his brother would like and more questions began dropping on my head, Adam's eyes struck me amused, he probably noticed how intrigued I was. "My brother and I are the sons of the King in our world. But my brother doesn't want to carry the responsibility of the throne, that's why he left and never showed his face again to our Father."
Oh... They are royalties? But I don't get it? Something like that exists?
"How about you, do you want the throne?" If he does, he probably wouldn't be here, right? I stared at him and he shows no sign of interest.
"Of course not, that's why I left and followed my brother."
"Where is he now?" His eye twitched for some reason but just answers my question.
"Who knows?" He let out a chuckle. "He may be just around, goofing out or I don't know."
"Why aren't you together? You're not close to him?" Gosh, my mouth never stops pouring questions, but I want to know almost everything about him. "I'm sorry, I was just curious and all." I pouted and he shook his head with a little smile.
"No, I'm glad you're asking." He held my hand and beamed. "We still see each other, and he's being an asshole most of the time when he shows up." He uttered, looking so calm and happy, I never had siblings so I don't understand that feeling of annoyance and love at the same time.
"I'm glad you two are close." He snorted and rolled his eyes, he held the glass of iced tea on the table and the glass started to have a foggy appearance. He made it cold again! I gaped at him and he laughed at my reaction.
"You're always surprised by what I can do." He takes a sip of his cold beverage.
He is so adorable when he acts like this. I look at him and I rest my body in the inclining chair. I wonder what his brother looks like. "Oh, wait. Can I ask more?" I sat down straight once again and gets the cold ice team from him, taking a sip, and making him smirk.
"Hm, please do."
"What is your world like?"
"Chaotic." He answered coldly as he looks upon the sky. Should I ask more? I pursed my lips to shut myself down but he beamed me with his beautiful expression making me flustered. "You can ask me anything, Eve. I'll gladly entertain your inquiries." I bit my lip and the questions I have, all sprung up into my mind quickly.
"What do you mean by chaotic?"
"All my father wanted is torture and war, that's why all of our soldiers just know how to fight and to kill." That sounds bad. "Unlike here on this civilization, there's progress, there's peace, and there's also all the other feelings that we've never encountered in our world."
"But your father, is a father to the both of you, right?" My words stray of my tongue slowly, being careful not to lash any scar that may be caused by the family he knew. He shook his head and that was it, all the chaos and shit, his father is a freak, I presume. I think of another question to change the topic, "How did you cope up with the kind of change that this world showed you? How did you adapt? I mean, you act all humane and all, no one even notices your different." I chuckled.
"Remember when I told you about Nat's family?" I remember that time in our house when I talked about Nat's mom having cancer.
"Yea, you said you've taken care of them since Natalie's mom was your friend."
"It goes way back." He grinned proudly, making me more curious than ever.
"Do tell."
"When I got here, all I can ever feel was rage and the urge to kill..." I just stared at him as he goes on, I kind of regret asking about it, especially when his eyes seem pained from what he is telling me. "But then an old man found me, even when he knew I was different, that I was a monster, he took care of me." The pain in his eyes was replaced by fondness and my heart melted at that. "After a time, he welcomed me into his own family, and I gave them what they need to live in this world, together we built a company that grew. When he died, the next one in line is his son, he became my apprentice, but they were my family without power or so."
"I wish I can meet them too."
"You already met them, they are Natalie's ancestors."
My jaw dropped down but I scooped it up with my hand, covering my gaped mouth. He chuckled and as he does, my giggle starts forming. Wow. Just wow. That's why he was so close to Natalie, I really have nothing to be cranky about. I laughed at myself, remembering how I acted last time. I suddenly had a thought, "Wait, does that mean Natalie is your next in line?"
"It's kind of weird though because Natalie is the first woman to ever be born on the lineage. It was kind of absurd for their lineage but yea, Natalie will be the next one and she will serve under you."
"What? No, no." I gulped and wave my hands in front of my face. I don't need any servant. "No one is serving me, okay? She is already an important person to me, like a little sister, no serving under me and---"
"That's just how it is, Eve. You're my queen." His words stopped me from saying anything, but damn, my cheeks felt hot. His Queen... I wanted to slap myself but his roguish grin makes it impossible.
"What was it like when you first met me?" The words suddenly slipped my mouth and I avert my eyes from him, also surprised by my question.
"You saved me, Eve. You were a funny girl." Funny? My head tilted on its own and he bit his lip in his cute little ways that made my heart skip a beat. "The rain was pouring that day, I decided to submerge myself in the lake. That was my way of relaxing from my thoughts, and I can breathe underwater—oh my god, of course¬¬—so I stayed there for half an hour, but I bet you noticed it from afar. You suddenly jumped on the water and pulled me with your anxious face!"
He chortled and I just stared at him, looking at him like crazy. I didn't know that meeting me was so hilarious. He was still laughing, and I could have laughed with him but he was bursting it. As I watch him, a vision suddenly enters my mind—It was like in medieval time, I was wearing, a dress? Carrying a basket with apples. I walked beside the lake under the light of day, when I saw a man's figure cascading under the water. Out of panic, I jumped, throwing the basket aside, my dress was so heavy but I managed to pull the crazy man attempting suicide. When I did, his wide eyes in the hues of blue shone upon mine, and some of his wet white silver hair laid on his fair face. Are you crazy!? I shouted at him, out of breath, and he just stared at me, like he was seeing something to be fond of for the very first time.
"Eve?" Adam's voice popped in my ear and I realize I have been staring in the middle of nowhere, living in the vision of whatever it was. What was that? It's just like I saw the events of what Adam was talking about, but isn't it just because my mind tried to play what he said, or was it a memory?
"Hey." Adam sat down beside me and held both my cheeks on his palm. I laid my eyes on him and he was doing the same, the vision of the crazy man's blue eyes reflected his and I smiled.
"Are you crazy...?" I whispered and his eyes went wide.
"Eve... Did you remember?" He muttered and his eyes were eager and panicking but why? In that moment, I felt like it will be wrong to tell him if ever I was beginning to remember some things. Every time I tell anyone about some visions, I always forget. Was someone deleting in on purpose? Was it Adam? I cannot tell him. I want to remember everything.
" Your story seemed like a romantic comedy." I laughed and he sighed. Why did he sigh, is that relief? Adam stood up and stretched his body before holding his hand for me to take it. "To be truth, I wish our love story is just a romantic comedy..." His lips curled into a smile that was forced and my heart cracked upon seeing it. I will know the truth.
Adam took me for jet skiing in the afternoon and I wanted to throw up at first. I clutched at his waist the whole time and I found myself wooing my lungs out when I got to it. It was one of the best days of my life. We did a lot of fun stuff and we watch his crew's fishing sport. He then told me that all of his crew are also demons, making me feel dumb as ever. Like, how am I supposed to talk with them? After a while, they were not really different if you throw the demon thought out.
Adam brought me home by 7 pm, and damn, he was a gentleman. He opened my door at my side of the car and even took my hand for a kiss. "Why are you acting like a prince charming from the storybooks?"
He grinned and stroke my chin with his thumb and my breath hitched as he does. "Now that you know the truth, I am a prince, that makes you my princess, right?" I bit my lip to suppress my foolish grin and he winked at me. "I want to be in your heart again, Eve."
"But you are in my heart, Adam. And I think you never left it..." He laid a peck on my forehead and he let out an ever-so-sweet smile before urging me to go inside the house. "Aren't you staying?" I pursed my lips in but he shook his head.
"Work calls." I pouted and a deep chuckle came from his lips. I watch him drive away before I get in my doorstep.
After a night wash, I changed into my sleepwear, remembering the small hinge of memory that escaped from the closed parts of my mind. That timeline was old, but why is Adam so afraid of the past? He always tells me to create new memories, but what If I say the past is also important?
I laid on my bed since I still have work tomorrow and as I close my eyes, visions once again sprawled inside my head, and this time, it was like forever.
