Chapter 15: Chapter 15
Zach tagged along with us as we went to a restaurant. Kate was still a little off but Cathlyn was fine, and Zach kept hurdling me beside him, in between me and the girls.
"What the hell are you doing?" I whisper as he drapes his arm on my shoulder keeping me close.
"Keeping you safe." He winked at me and I rolled my eyes on him and leaned forward to talk to the girls.
"How are you guys doing by the way?"
"Well, I am doing fine," Cathlyn spoke in her calm voice and Kate just smiled, she looked lonely. I escaped Zach's arm and went beside Kate.
"Are you okay?"
"Yea, I'm fine. Just tired, I guess." She didn't even bother to look at me. Is she mad at me or anything? I glance at Cathlyn and she shook her head and gestured me beside her. We continued walking towards the restaurant and we sat together. Zach and I beside each other of course.
As we ate, we talked about small things. Zach was a comic at all times, Cathlyn laughs at him, but Kate was just eating and she had the fakest of smiles today. Before we are done, she had her phone in her ear and she went outside, telling us to wait. We were friends for months, a month before I got shot, so I can say that all of us are not even that close but I cherish them. They were also right there in the hospital so I was thankful. I wonder what happened?
"Where do you think she's going Cathlyn?"
"To her boyfriend, I think."
"Is that why she's been gloomy and all?"
"Maybe..." She looked kind of sad, and weird, they have been both weird. But why? Who is that anonymous boyfriend anyway?
I take a peek by the glass wall and see Kate talking to a familiar guy, pale skin and black hair. Simon? They are together. I've been bumping on him weirdly for the past few weeks, he even said he works inside the company. Well, I don't care that much anyway. I hope Kate is okay. After a few minutes, Kate come back and we bid our goodbyes to one another. Zach and I headed to a clothing store as I ponder my thoughts.
Why does Kate seem to be off with me? Is it because of her boyfriend?
That's ridiculous if it's the reason. I remember the time when Zach came to take me away when Simon was asking if I need someone to walk with through home. He looked pale and all, but he was also kind of stalky in his ways.
"Thinking about Kate and his boyfriend?" His voice pulled me of my questions and I look up at him.
"Yea. And I don't want to dwell on it any further." I blew air on my lips and shake my head.
"I don't want you to go out with them when you're alone when you're not with me. Or without Adam." Huh? He acknowledges Adam now? That's the first thing that came into my mind before the Kate thing sunk it on me again.
"Why though?"
"I can't entrust you with anyone, not after what happened." Zach's tone was grave and it made me nod without questions. We stayed silent as we reach the shop and I am about to do some fitting. For years, Zach accompanied me on these stuff and all he will do is laugh and make fun of me, but I was very happy. He makes me feel safe, and I love him for that. He's also got a good eye for clothes that will fit on me too, have me thinking if he had ever dressed up women before, or maybe all he does was play dress-up as a kid.
I picked up a cute pink sleeveless dress and showed it to Zach.
"Do you think this will do?"
"It's too short." His brow furrowed and he takes it from me to put it back where it came from.
"It's a date, Zach!" I swat his shoulder and laughed.
"Now that I've been thinking of you going on a date, I prefer you wear sack or baggy clothes." He acts like his head is hurting and I chuckle at his gestures.
"Stop being so dramatic."
"This won't do. These clothes here are all cute and short and summery."
"What?"
"This is where I buy my clothes and dresses," I complained and he shakes his head.
"Let's go." He drags me out of the shop and I giggled when he puts his arm on my shoulder again.
"Where are we going?" I utter, my eyes scanned the mall, seeing some girls looking at Zach. I rolled my eyes and my arm automatically moved on its own to wrap my arm on his waist as his' is placed on my shoulder. Why did I do that? He smirked and beamed at me like a little boy.
"I didn't know you were overprotective, sweetie." He chuckled and I pinched his side, making him jolt. Our walk was filled with laughter and my jaw dropped as we reached our destination. He was going to a branded design and my feet stopped.
"I can't pay for that!"
Zach chuckled as he pushes me to enter the store and a beautiful blonde comes to greet us.
"Good afternoon, Lord Zach."
Huh? Lord Zach?
I stared at him and the blonde spoke in her mature voice. "Hello, Lady?"
"Her name is Eva."
"Lady Eva."
"What's going on?" I looked at both of them curiously.
"This is how we address our customers, like in older ages." She was still smiling at me with her wide grin, feeling conscious. Her accent was thick and her formal suit was fitted to her curvy body. She has a big future on her chest as well. It kind of mocked mine. I just nodded and remember how she knew Zach the moment we got in. Is she Zach's girl? She looked kind of older than him though.
I glanced at Zach and he beamed at me. "This is where I got some of my clothes on occasions. I'm a customer." He whispers in my ears and I felt kind of relieved by it.
"Shall we?" He offered his hand and I placed my hand on it while shaking my head in laughter. He looked like the lead character in the novel. I thought to myself as he brings me a fitting room.
"So, the first date? With Adam." He uttered with his fading voice as he picks some dresses in colors white, black, and red.
"Try this one." I examined it and it's beautiful, all of it is long sleeves though, but it was thin and slim, and formal. He's really got eyes for these things.
"There are just—wow." I gasped as I see the prices, I can't really pay for this. "Zach, I can't— "
"Can you please just try them on, babe?" He commanded me with his Oh-so-sweet eyes and I just went to the fitting room. I strip in the mirror and put on the white dress first, it looked so innocent and cute, but my shoulders show so I untied my red hair and put some in front. It looks nice, I kinda look nice.
I went out like a model and I laughed as I see Zach chuckling at me too. "So?"
"It doesn't look bad." I threw the hanger after he spoke and went to change. I don't think it will fit well for my date though. Maybe I should wear something dark in color like dark red, bloody or I don't know. The heat on my body starts to pump my heart for some reason. I tried the black dress and I loved it. It has a thin strap and it was slim and sexy. I'm shy though. How should I do my hair for this? I know how to dress but not the expensive ones.
I went out, slowly but I don't get shy at Zach. His eyes sort of darkened when he saw me and I felt nervous as he did. It was... I don't know... He had this sly grin on his face and I pursed my lips in. "Change." His reaction changed and he turned around to look at other dresses. Doesn't it look good on me?
"What?" I frowned at him. "It's beautiful!"
"Change." He repeated and I groaned. "It's too provocative."
"But it's a date!" I stomped and he turn back at me and shake his head. I went to the fitting room again and try the long-sleeved red dress and I wowed myself. It was a fit off-shoulder dress with minimal beads at the top. It also reveals my clavicle and the shape of my body. I went out and hope to god that Zach already chooses it since he is going to pay for it.
He stares at me and does his habit of biting his lower lip in, beaming at me. "It looks beautiful." He uttered and I smiled, the others look good too though, and I am definitely coming back for the black one. Zach walks towards me and takes a look at every angle and nods again. "I mean the dress though, it is beautiful." I slapped his arm and he laughed, making me laugh as well. These moments are precious and they can never be replaced. I waited for him to finish paying and I feel so embarrassed about how he's gonna pay it. I remember when I was shocked at how his unit looked like and the first time I got there. The image of Zach wearing his tee, made me snort.
"Let's go." I stand and go up to him with a smile on my face.
As we reach my house, the dusk was about to fall. He carried the paper bag in his hand. We took a bus and walk on my street after. "Thank you, Zach." He pinches my cheek before giving me the paper bag.
"This won't go unpaid. So—more food treats to come."
"Yea, right, And I'll also wear this if we ever go out on our food trip." He's the one who bought it though. I stood on my toes then scuffle his thick and soft brown hair.
"You don't need to do that though, I already won, since I was the first one to see you wear it." He smirked and I giggled, thinking of how he is such a joker. After our farewell, I head to the shower immediately to prepare since Adam will be coming at seven.
"I'm quite nervous about this."
I blow-dried my hair and put on light makeup before going to the paper bag to get the red dress. My eyes widen when I see the black dress under the red dress, and the first thing I did is call Zach and he answers in the first ring.
"You, idiot!" I laughed and he chuckle as well.
"Took you long enough before you see that." His voice over the phone was so sweet and calm.
"I was only preparing then I saw it. I thought you didn't like it." I purse my lips in and beamed at myself.
"I could've bought all those dresses for you since everything seemed to fit you perfectly, but I can't just dress you up for Adam. That would be weird."
"Why are you being a sap right now?" I joked.
"I've always been your sap, babe. Now, go ahead and enjoy whatever it is, just don't wear the black one tonight."
"Yea, I won't." I chuckle before hanging up. I stared at the black dress and tried it on again, and it fits so well. I looked at myself in the mirror then jumped when a voice came from over from the door.
"Well, isn't that too provocative?"
Adam was leaning by the threshold, wearing a V-neck shirt and dark pants, looking so cool and hot by my door. I purse my lips in and held my hands together in the front, feeling totally embarrassed and shy. Stop acting this way, Eva. I sigh at how pathetic I was, and even more pathetic when he started walking towards me with a foxy smile on his face. My knees suddenly turned weaker when he grabs me by the waist and turn me around to look at the mirror.
"W-what is it...?" I croaked and he grinned handsomely in the mirror as he laid a kiss on my bare shoulder.
"If you're going to wear a dress like this, you should not cover yourself with your hands." He placed his hand on my shoulder and slides it slowly, his fingers brushing and tingling into my sensitive skin, making my breath stop every millisecond. "Then, you should keep the proper pose in standing properly." He whispers in my ear and I let out a shaky breath, letting my chest pop out, my body standing straight for proper posture. He kisses my ear slowly, and nibbles on it gently and I tilted my head as his moist kisses make their way down to the side of my neck. I moan as his hand laid on my tummy, and pulled me closer, my back touching his front.
"This is not what I am going to wear though..."
"Well, I'm not going to let you wear that outside." He whispered ever so closely and the heat was already radiating in my body as he does.
"I saw the red dress." He flashes me his foxy grin and his eyes were shining deep dark and blue in the mirror as he stares at our reflection, holding me close to him. His hand gently gathered my hair and lift the ends up. "You can wear your hair up if you'll be using the off-shoulder dresses." Oh yea, he also has those good eyes in fashion. Are boys really like that? He pulls on my hair playfully making me moan, etching my body with excitement. I love it when he does that to me... I bit my lower lip and I heard him smirk as he stared at me.
"It's really hard not to fuck you right now, Eve." His eyes darken and fuck, that sounds hot.
"Then fuck me..." I whispered, my words breathless at the very end. He swallowed hard and his jaw tenses as he closes his eyes, a deep low chuckle sounding from him. He stares at our reflection and his fingers looped at both the straps of the dress, slowly pulling it down my shoulder, Oh shit. I closed my eyes but he whispers, "Don't close them and look at the mirror." I opened my eyes and swallow hard, this feels hot. I feel beautiful at the moment as the straps of my dress fall down to my arms, and my bare chest revealing my swelling breast.
"Fuck..." He uttered, my throat was drying and he was still standing behind me, closer, his fingers brushing at each side of my waist up below the side of my breast. "Just look at how beautiful you are." I look at the mirror and he was really smoldering, and I was glowing differently...
He places his palms to massage my breasts and my hands grab onto his wrist as he does. He was kissing my neck as he tugs on my stiff nipples in between his fore and middle finger. I moan and my head kept leaning backward as he plays wildly with me. "Adam..." My lips never shut close and I can feel it shaping an O as he continues.
His gaze was setting me on fire and he nips the lobe of my ears softly, sending more bolts into my body.
"We still have to go out..." He whispers before turning me to face him. I was breathing so rough and I melt in his arms as he kisses me passionately. I love this feeling...
He lets go of me and I was stunned by what he is doing to me. He kisses my forehead as he placed his warm palms on my cheek, calming my pulsating flushed body. "I'll see you outside..." He beamed at me and my mouth fell open. That's it? His fingers loop back my straps into my shoulder and I just stare at him.
"But we're—"
He kisses me again and he grinned at me. "Going on a date. We can't be late." I pouted and he rubs my lips once with his thumb before going outside. I pursed my lips in, reimagining our interaction and it was very heart-stopping. I beamed at the mirror and fixed my hair up like Adam's suggestion, before putting on my red dress. After the preparations, I glanced one more time in the mirror and went up ahead to meet Adam outside the house.
What?
A black Mercedes is parked in front of my house and Adam was handsomely leaning on it. As soon as he spots me, he walks towards me, eyeing me like I am the most beautiful creature he has ever seen. The thought made me want to explode but I disregarded it since it's just a thought.
"Hello, beautiful."
I bit my lip to avoid giggling like a teenage girl, but his smile made me grin since it was so adorable. He leans on my ear to whisper, "Glad I know how to stop myself from ripping your dresses off." My eyes widen and I swat him out of my own consciousness. He lets out a deep chuckle and holds out his hand so I could take it. As I did, he took me to his car, with him glancing at me every second. This is making me even more nervous. "Where are we going?" I whispered slowly so that I wouldn't sound so breathless.
"To a restaurant." He started the engine and I fell silent as I watch the houses we pass by from the window car. It was kind of calming to sit in the car with Adam, but my heart stops every time I see his eyes set on me. I closed my eyes and drowse off, and when I opened them, I can see yachts so I gaped at him.
"We're near." He uttered with a proud smile on his face. After a few minutes, he was already parked at a docking station and my heart was pounding like hell. I love the seas and I love boats, yachts, ships and other more things about it. He opened the car door for me and he was such a gentleman. It was a high-class yacht, he offered his arm, and I gladly looped mine on it.
"I thought we're going to a restaurant..." I chirped and he laughed, probably noticing how excited I was.
"Yes, there's food inside the yacht." He beamed at me, and I was just so amazed as we walk up the steps. This is so grand! The interior design is just luxurious as it is on the outside. Chandeliers hang on the ceiling, but there is something odd, there are no other people around.
"Where are the other people?" My words trailed slowly and he looked at me as if he was amused.
"I can't share you with other people tonight." Does that mean, he rented the whole yacht? My jaws just dropped down and I placed my hand on my chest. "This is our yacht, Eve."
"Ours?" I croaked. "I don't remember investing my money on a yacht." This is really making me shy. I don't want to be a Cinderella, nor any other woman being saved by princes', I am more of a Mulan type of woman, this is just too much to take in. He turns to face me and places his hand on my cheek.
"This is the company yacht."
"Oh." Ours. I felt very embarrassed for thinking too much, I can't help it though. He lays a peck on my lips before entwining his fingers with mine.
"We're going to eat. And, by the way, I called Nat to keep your schedule vacant tomorrow. We'll be leaving tomorrow night."
I blink my eyes at him but raised my brow afterward. "Why are you always making a decision for me without even any consent?" We are still walking and he was taking me someplace else.
"Well, would you rather leave tonight?"
I suddenly had second thoughts, but I have work, and work cannot be disregarded.
"No... but my work is important too." He turned his head at me, beaming like a little boy on Christmas.
"I'm your boss though. No one will scold you if you do take a leave." He winked at me and that was it, I've got nothing to say. I kind of wanted to enjoy it anyway, well, not kind of, but I want to, completely. And I am not bragging but I already finished most files, in addition to what Zach had signed. We walked on the inner part of the yacht and it just wowed me eventually, every hint of the design was like that of a renaissance but it has a shimmering golden color, just like the designs back in Adam's HQ. As we entered one door, the smell of seafood creeps inside my nose making my mouth water.
So there are other people. The chefs and the other crews.
The kitchen was as elegant as the whole yacht, there are a lot of food and I wonder why there are so many even though we're just two. "There's so much food..."
"The others are for the crew, then the most are packed for some of the homeless in the city." Wow...
I fell silent in awe and I felt proud of him. I knew he was kind and I don't know how I actually feel that he really was ever since. This kind of feeling is so familiar that it makes me believe that I already lived my past lives with him. It doesn't sound impossible though. He does live like a normal person though, I have so many questions to ask him. Maybe later?
"Lord Adam." One of the tall chefs approached him and they were talking about some foodstuffs, but because of the idea that crossed your mind, you didn't hear any of it. Lord? Why are the men in my life being called Lords? You remember how Zach was called a Lord earlier in that expensive clothing shop and it made you think. The woman said it was their normal way to their customers though. Your gaze fell upon Adam and the Chef, the only sentence you understood was that the food that Adam requested is not yet ready. He looked at you and you raised your brows to ask him why.
"Are you already hungry? Can you wait for a little longer?" I snorted after he spoke.
"I'm not only into food, Adam." He smiled and the sincerity in it made my heart melt.
"Let's go then." He took me to the center inside and jazz slow music was playing. It seemed like it was the hall inside the yacht, the floors were wide and shiny. As we approached it, the music is louder but it was groovy and nice. I feel warm air escaping from his lips as he uttered in my ear. "Let's dance." His hand laid on my waist immediately and his other hand touched mine.
"Wait, I don't know how to dance like this." I rapped embarrassed but he just shook his head and his body starts swaying me. We were so close to each other and his wide smile is just infectious that my heart hammers my sternum wildly. I got into the movements slowly and my arms raised to loop on his nape. His hands laid on the sides of my waist and I can't help but smile at the way he was looking at me. "I want to see how you dance in some other ways." His words and tone are so flirty, I bit my lip and gulp before he pushes me gently holding my hand, and spin me around. My hand laid on his chest and we were swaying again, this time our feet were moving in sync, it was lovely. The dance lasted for minutes but the world slowed it down for us, we were laughing when I accidentally stepped on his foot, then I giggled hard when he began lifting me up between dances.
When we finished, he leads me into the deck, the breeze was so cold but Adam's arm on my waist kept me warm. The yacht was in the middle of nowhere but that place was so enchanting, and the sky was lit by stars shining up above. We walked into the rails and I gaze at the surrounding, closing my eyes as the cold wind touches my face. Submerged into my own world for a minute, I didn't notice Adam's warm blue eyes gazing at me like he was contemplating the stars. God, that is sweet. I lick my lips since it was very dry and stare back at him. As I did, the moment was so dreamy, and I realized that I was closing into him. "It's so nice to see you happy, Eve." He leaned to kiss me and I did the same. Our lips touched slowly and it wasn't like how it would always feel, it wasn't that hot, erotic kiss, but far more beyond that. It's just like our souls are clashing for every movement of our heads, and the feelings are so fuzzy that I think we could just stay like that all night.
****
The table was glimmering with cooked crustaceans in different types of dishes. This is my favorite food aside from beef roasts that Zach and my palate share. It seems like Adam loved it too, he eats like a normal guy, and it made me feel so comfortable that I don't have to wipe my mouth with a napkin for every second. We were fisting on the Etouffee when I began asking questions.
"How many years have you been here?"
"Millennia." That's a long time. The thought still hasn't sunk into me, it felt very weird. He licked his lips and sat comfortably on his side of the table, his eyes eager for my questions.
"How did you even get here? Like demons and stuff? Like is it from the one in the bible?" I was stuttering and he smirked, he takes his sip of water before answering me.
"I'm from the other dimension, Eve. But for your understanding, you can consider it as entities and such but not the one in the book you are saying."
"Then why did you stay here?"
"Because I fell in love with a human." A pang of jealousy struck me but I feel that my eyes are watering for some other reason. Human? From a millennium ago? The word 'again' that he always used entered your mind and you think that the human might be you from the past life. This is so hard to believe but at least I can hear his words.
"Human?"
"You, Eve. I've always fallen in love with you." You stare at him for the longest of time and he did the same.
