Chapter 20: Chapter 20
I didn’t stay long in that place because the memories that I had wanted to bury in oblivion for a long time would keep coming back. The memories that have been hidden will only continue to come back and open the wound that I have healed for a long time. If only every person could erase all the wounds and marks left by the past, everything would have been easy.
When I got home, I quickly went to bed. It’s going to get dark, so maybe Adonis is preparing something to eat, but before he left, I heard him talking on the phone. The data connection is not that slow here. There’s just a day and time that you really can’t find even a single bar of signal.
“Yes, prepare all the materials that will be used. Just tell my secretary and she will list the items you got. It has to be finished immediately because you will only do a small concrete place.” While he was talking, I just listened even though I didn’t understand what he was explaining. I just think that’s for his business because he mentioned the materials.
When he turned off the call, he looked at me as if he was very irritated with me while I was rolling puppy eyes. He suddenly came out without speaking, so I just fiddled with my phone and saw the photos we took. Of course, during the time we were here, we didn’t have even one photo? I took as many as I could, but I laughed every time I scanned the photos because all we took was he wasn’t smiling. One raised an eyebrow, the other frowned while the other stared seriously at the camera. When I once slide the picture I saw the stolen picture of him. He was staring at the water earnestly as if deep in thought while he was sober and not wearing any top. These pictures we took were when we took swimming together.
I pressed the three dots on my phone then click “Set as screen lock.” I smiled at myself and turned on and off my phone. When the screen lit up, his abs immediately appeared on me. I just convinced myself that it was his phone and he should be the wallpaper because I was embarrassed to think why I put him on my screen lock.
Just a few minutes later, he came back carrying the seafood today. Where do they get them? I also want to go with them whenever they take it. The things he brought were cooked, so we immediately sat down at the table. I’m sure it will add a lot of weight to me because all I do is sleep and eat. When I was putting food on my plate, he spoke. I thought he still had no intention of talking to me.
If I have a big head wound, I think he will be too concerned.
“I have already instructed my employees about the school you are requesting. Our only problem is to find the land where the school you want can build — and the hospital.”
That’s when I looked up at him. Wait. He did not tell me he was serious about the hospital we talked about? I’m just kidding then. I can’t believe this man. Maybe the word “joke” doesn’t exist in his vocabulary. I looked at him, but it seemed like I was just not doing anything to him. Is he really serious? Just because of a cut on my finger will seriously build a hospital? Well ... that’s not bad either because this place also lacks facilities and we still have a long way to travel just to get to the hospital. I stopped howling and continued to eat. How long will we stay here? How do we plan for Cole?
The night is over. I was starting to get bored because I wasn’t doing anything, so while we were lying down and the light was off, I spoke. I don’t want to die of being too boring here in this place. Yes, and this is the place I grew up in, but now that I am big, I just noticed that it is boring to just lie down and wait for the next thing to happen.
“Hey.” That’s all I said to make sure he was still awake. He didn’t say a word, so I just kept quiet. There is no light for us but only the window coming from the moon. I sat and peeked at the big grass. I was saddened while staring at it, even though I couldn’t see anything. I looked at the window, then started singing. Even though my voice isn’t beautiful, I can say that it’s not ugly either. As I peered out the window, Adonis got up from his seat. I knew he stood up because I heard the sound of the blanket.
“Why?” I wanted to strike him because I asked that question earlier. I’ve sung and all, but he’s only now answering. I don’t know if he’s just a slow process or he just really meant it.
“I want to go where you are fishing. I don’t want to be just here at home. Then when will we return? I want to go back to the city and do the things we should do to Cole.” I was just stunned outside while saying that. As time went on, I also waited longer and longer for Cole. We have to finish right away so that Cole’s true color and secret can be revealed. The persecution he inflicted on me took too long.
“Okay.”
The walk of time sped up. I’m not aware we’ve been here for a month. The supplies Adonis needs for school, I tell him, have arrived. I am so ashamed of him because we talked to the landowner, and he bought it triple. I can’t even do anything for him. Sometimes if he orders me, I am complaining.
It also looks like I can no longer teach children. Hopefully, some people can volunteer here to teach. I suddenly got up from lying down, then picked up my phone. I quickly installed Facebook, then signed up to create an account. The first thing I did was fill up the profile based on the information Adonis gave me. Like my fake identities, then put my face in the profile picture. Facebook is not new to me because somehow I used it. I immediately hit status and type what I wanted to say.
“Good day everyone! This is Luna Clemonte, I would like to invite you to a program that I would like to do similar to the volunteering program to help children who want to study. Or maybe it’s the nurses and doctors who also want to help from the small center and small hospital I’m building. We provided the equipment as well as food and accommodation.”
After I typed, I made it public for immediate reading. Since others have known me since I went to Cole’s charity program, I’m sure there will be people who will recognize me. I don’t have many friends yet but I hope someone sees.
I covered my mouth when suddenly two friend requests came out and it is not with just from normal people. I mean, not just any ordinary person because they are both known as public figures.
Cole Dela Vega sent you a friend request.
Adonis Salander sent you a friend request.
Suddenly my hands were sweating. I don’t know if I should accept Adonis. Won’t they doubt us? I quickly pressed accept Cole’s friend's request. My soul cheered, even more, when he commented and shared it. In less than a few minutes, I received a series of friend requests. That was the first thing I accepted before Adonis. I don’t want anyone to notice how he met me. My messages and comment boxes were also added. I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw many who said they would send someone here to teach and also send a few nurses.
When Adonis came home, I quickly greeted, jump and hugged him. He picked me up suddenly because of what I did. When I realize our position I went down, then I hem because of the awkwardness, but also quickly recovered and screamed. I shook him with great joy. He put down the food he was carrying, then let me speak.
“There are already volunteers !!!” I screamed with great joy as he did and covered his ears because of the loudness of my shout.
“Perhaps we’ll return next week. Everything is prepared, and Mark will handle the majority of the work. All we need to know is how you got into the company. You won’t be able to just walk in. Because you may look suspicious if you just tell them you have a relationship with Cole. After washing his hands, he turned to me and said, “You should prepare a presentation to show them. And I speculate I already have the know-how.”
The volunteers I spoke with arrived three days after my post. Mark took Adonis’ place once he returned home. It’s risky if they ask why we’re together. We’ll return home later. It didn’t take long for me to teach them how the school and healthcare center operate. There aren’t many of them, and they aren’t going to start right now because there are still things to do if they want to remain. It cost Adonis a lot of money. We may have ended up explaining what they should do in the afternoons.
I also did not let them use the hut where Adonis and I lived. They will also go home and return the day the facilities are built.
When it was over, I closed the door shut where Adonis and I were staying. I got in the car, then prepared myself for our plan to do with Cole.
