Chapter 147: Chapter 147

"Sir Adonis' plane crashed in the middle of the f-flight." His voice trailed off at his last words.

My knees lost strength and I almost gave up if Mark hadn't caught me. All the sound around me was gone. I felt deaf.

"I told you that I'm not in the mood to receive your joke today!" I told them angrily, trying to fool myself.

I saw Leilani's sad face avoid. Raymond, on the other hand, bowed. No one spoke to them again.

I just felt large grains of tears welling up in my eyes. I removed Mark's hand that was holding me to try to stand up.

I took support from the walls and walked up the stairs.

“Ma'am Luna—”

I raised my hand to tell them not to follow me. Maybe they were just joking and Adonis was downstairs to surprise me.

I couldn’t stop sobbing. I heard the Television in the living room as I got closer and closer.

“Only a few survived to the sank plane. Some are lifeless while others are just unconscious because of the amount of water they drink. However, almost all are missing and can no longer be found. The suspicion of the majority is due to the strong waves and high tide so they have been swept away.” I listened to how the news carter told the story.

I heard the step approaching me and I saw Mark coming down the stairs with others. They shook their heads and when I couldn't stand my knees—I fell to the floor.

They quickly ran towards me while I was crying. I touched my chest because of its extreme pain. I couldn't breathe and something stuck in my throat.

“Tell me I'm just dreaming. Wake me up because I don't want this.” I cried incessantly to relieve the throbbing I was experiencing.

My heart was filled with guilt and darkness, overflowing with the weight I had felt since Adonis left. All the pain and remorse came out.

If this is how the Lord will punish me, can I just throw it? Can it not be accepted? He marked me with suffering that I think is incurable.

"Luna ..." I heard Leilani call me but I lost even more strength when I saw that even they couldn't do anything.

"Here are the names of those who died, survived and are still missing."

Because of the newscaster’s re-announcement we all looked up there. I tried to stand up even though I was having a hard time. I immediately approached the screen and searched for Adonis ’name among the dead.

I was heartened not to see his name anywhere on the deceased. The next thing I looked at was the list of survivors but my heart dropped when I saw his screaming name on the missing.

“Oh. He is missing. If he was on that list, he would probably be dead too— ”

Raymond instantly covered Leilani's mouth even though it was too late. She has already said the whole thing in my mind. But I thought of Athens. If I lose hope, I will be the reason why my child will be sad.

"You're not helping." Raymond whispered to her which I could hear.

“I'm just telling the—”

"If you don't keep quiet I'll kiss you to seal your mouth."

Raymond's threat to her seems to have been effective. I appreciate how they try to lighten the ambiance. I wiped away my tears, there was also no time to mumble in this place. All I need is to be strong.

I feel like Adonis is safe.

I looked at them again without a trace of any tears but my puffy eyes.

“Mark, Raymond, come with me. Call a rescuer who can join us to find Adonis' body. Can I use the yacht of Adonis?” I look at the two of them alternately.

Raymond was the first to stand up straight and nod while Mark was the only one late to recover when they saw that I had adjusted my posture. I’m right, if I’m the one to despair, they’ll be next too. I know it was hard for them too since they had been with Adonis for several years, I had not been yet in Adonis' life back then when they were with him already.

"I want to come too!" Leilani raised her hand and Raymond lowered it.

"You can not."

“And why is that ?!” Leilani raised an eyebrow and her irritable face was obvious.

I didn't wait for Raymond to answer and I gave her the reason.

“Leilani, can you look for Athens? She is close from you, just don't leave the house so that nothing will happen to you. I will take Mark and Raymond with me so it is not safe for you to be outside.” I walked over to her and took her hand. "You're the only one I can count on now."

I saw how red her face was. I know she's not used to having a friend because that's what she told me before. I'm like her either.

“O-okay! Let me go!” She stammered and turned away from me. But she was only two steps away when she spoke again without looking at us. “Find him, okay? Don't worry about your daughter because I will take care of her."

She ran up the stairs and looked like she was going to Athens. I smiled in the air..It feels so good to have a friend. I somehow lost the heavy feeling I was having.

Once again, I turned my attention back to the two with me. "Get ready, we'll leave later."

I also went up the stairs to prepare. Even though I still wanted to shed tears, I tried not to let them fall.

I have also heard the action of the two. I don't know where to go for help because I don't know anyone but Wayne and Wendy. They also have a life of their own so I don’t want to mess with them.

I stared in the mirror for a few minutes until I decided to stand up and start looking for Adonis.
