Chapter 139: Chapter 139

Luna POV

“What? Do you still have no plan? You've been here for almost a month!” I rolled my eyes while eating the sausage.

Leinali raised her foot on the chair while eating as well and mimicked my reaction. She has been staying here for a few weeks now but she has never told me her plans. But the good thing about her being here is that Luke doesn't bother me anymore. I think it has something to do with Leilani.

"I'm still thinking, okay?"

I breath a harsh air. Why does she take so long to think?

But in the middle of our breakfast, Athen spoke which made us silent.

“Mommy, where is daddy? I miss him. He never called us again.”

Because of what she said, I looked to my side where Mark and Raymond were.

They just stare at me and shook their heads which meant they didn’t know either. It's been a month since I last saw and talked to Adonis. Even Raymond and Mark had no news of him. There was also no face of him in Television.

“He is going home. Just wait.” I held Athen's head and smiled at her.

"How many more sleep?" She added to her question.

I could not speak. I don’t know how many days I will have to tell her because I will just lie and making her hope high. I'll just fool myself too.

In the middle of my silence it was Leilani who spoke.

“You know baby, when people are busy, we don't contact them. Just like your daddy. He is a very person.” She looked at Raymond and glared at him. “And you are so lovely child! I'm sure your daddy will call you when he has time.”

“I'm not sure about that.”

"Why?" Leilani softly asked her back.

I never thought she could have a side like this. Surprisingly, Luke's and her don't have child yet, because if they did, their child would be miserable.

"Just because." Athen shrugged at her.

The two of us looked at each other and I saw the streak of sadness on Leilani's face as if she was already affected.

"Excuse me."

I stood up and marched outside. I also picked up my phone.

When I was outside, I stared at my phone, looking for a place where no one could hear me.

I thought I could do it without Adonis — Athen could. I'm bad and wrong. He is a big part of Athen that whatever I do will never be removed.

I tried to call his number again and put the phone to my ear. I ready myself to listen to the person on the other line speak.

It just rang.

And when I thought there was no one to answer again— I straightened my back with a heavy breath on the other line.

"Hmm?" The voice on the other line was weak as if he had just woken up.

"Adonis ..."

That's all I spit. I have a lot to tell. I want him to know what is in my mind without opening my mouth because he was like that before.

He knows me very well.

However, is he still like that to this day?

I can't hear any emotion in his voice. Even if I hear anger from his mouth, I'm fine with that. But to discover that he was no longer interested in talking to me, there is blackness coping my chest.

“Athen is looking for you ...” No. WE are looking for you.

“Yeah? Tell her I'm going home next week.”

"Adonis—"

Before I could finish what I was about to say the line was cut. He didn't even listen to what I wanted to say.

I leaned against the wall and sat down. I bowed my head as I was unaware that hot tears had flowed from my redshot eyes.

"If you sulk there, your child will be even more sad."

I smelled the cigarette and heard the woman speaking beside me. I didn’t look up because I don't want her to see me like this. Leilani is strong despite her husband's cheating. I don’t seem to have anything to present to her because between the two of us, we are way too far apart.

“Am I selfish if I just want to be happy without stepping someone or any obstacle?” I sobbed as I continued. "B-but, because of that wish, I'm the one planting the dagger in him."

“Yes. You are.” Without hesitation she answered me.

"Why?"

"Because that is being delusional."

"How so?" I lifted my head to her as I wiped away my tears.

She smoked a cigarette and blew it into the air. She was also leaning against the wall while one of her hands was crossed.

“Because when you love, you don't have to think about who you will hurt. It is inevitable that such a thing, to have rivals or trampled people. But before you think about their situation, the first thing you should consider is yourself and the person you love.”

"I do not know how." I looked from afar.

“That is the problem of you people who tried to understand the essence of love. You try to cope something that is beyond your ability.”

Because I am sitting down, she looked down and stared me in the eye deeply.

“How do you understand other people if you don't even understand yourself? How do you know how other people feel when you are happy while they are drowning in pain.” She sat down like me and threw away her cigarette.

“There are things that are different. And always remember that you don't have to understand anything if you really can't. That is not your responsibility.”

"You don't have to understand how Jessica feels or her future child because you have Athens."

She patted my back and stood up. She quickly turned away from me and before she could leave I called her name.

"Leilani ...!"

She stopped but did not look back.

"Thank you."
