Chapter 20: Chapter 20
Saturday morning.
Agatha was riding a taxi.
As she was looking outside the window, she recalled the time she let her worldly desires take her over. She was so embarrassed letting Brett watch her masturbate inside the hotel room.
‘No. That is a lesson for me to learn how to seduce Lanceil.’
Again, she was using her mission as her pretext. But here she was, going somewhere far rather than spending her day off in Lanceil’s house.
Lanceil was still busy with work. There are chances for him and Agatha to meet each other in the condo, but it seems they were both making excuses.
Just like right now, Agatha was on her way to the orphanage to visit the children.
“We arrived, Miss," the taxi driver said, looking back at Agatha.
But the lady was too occupied with her own thoughts.
And so, the taxi driver called her again, "Miss?"
Finally, his voice reached Agatha and she stared back with rounded eyes.
"Ahhh," she gasped. "S-Sorry."
Agatha grabbed her wallet and paid the taxi driver.
"Here it is."
"Thanks, Miss. Have a nice day."
"Thank you. You too."
Agatha dismounted the taxi and looked at the orphanage in front of her. She noticed some changes in the facility.
“But the ambiance is still the same," she murmured.
When Agatha was still rich, she and her dad used to donate funds to charities and orphanages. They helped the homeless and the orphans.
When Agatha wasn't busy, she visited the orphanage and played with them. She didn’t forget to bring gifts so she could see the smile on the children’s lips.
Now, Agatha isn’t rich anymore. She couldn't bring expensive gifts, and only had candies and chocolates to offer.
But she was looking forward to seeing the kids again.
Soon, Agatha reached the back of the building. She knocked and then heard rushing footsteps towards the door. She got used to the sound and stepped back from the closed entrance. Then she hurriedly murmured this to herself:
“I’m ready.”
At that moment the door opened quickly. The children tried to go out first but they pushed each other and fell forward.
“Ouch!” one winced.
“Hey! Get off me!’ others complained.
“I told you that I’d open the door. This happened because you’re not listening.”
Among the visitors of the orphanage, there are only a few who use the back door of the building.
Jasper, who’s the person looking out for the kids, and Agatha. Thus, when the kids heard the knock, they anticipated seeing the person they missed so much!
“Sister Agatha!”
“It’s Agatha!”
“Agatha! We miss you!”
“Why did you come just now?!”
“It’s Agatha! It’s really Agatha!”
“Sister! I miss you so much!”
At her appearance, the surroundings became noisy in an instant. Agatha raised her hand and tried to calm them down.
“Guys, why did you rush out again? You’ll get hurt if you won’t be careful,” said Agatha.
“It’s because we miss you so much,” one pouted her lips, almost crying.
Agatha sat down, caressed the little kid's cheek, and smiled at her. “I miss you too, Brittney.”
“What about me?” a boy enthusiastically raised his hand.
“I miss you, Jeff.”
“And me? You miss me too?”
“Of course, Suha. I miss you too.”
One after another, she called almost all of the names of the kids. She’s a smart woman who excels in academics with her sharp memorization skills. But the real reason why she memorized the children’s names was solely because they became part of her life. She loves them unconditionally. After calling everyone, the children crowded her for a hug.
As they shared their warmth with her, she felt a sting of melancholy in her heart.
Agatha opened her lips to tell them that they should walk in, but the words strangled in her throat. Her face contorted and she shook her head and wept the tears pricking at the corner of her eyes.
‘As expected, they will fill the hole in my heart,’ she prayed inwardly.
“Sister Agatha, where did you go? Everyone was waiting for you.”
Agatha brought her hand to the top of the little girl’s head. “I’m sorry for coming late. Sister was away because she’s busy.”
“Eyyy, I guess sister Agatha went on a date with Brother Mikhail.”
She froze.
That’s right. She once brought her ex-boyfriend, Mikhail, to meet the kids. But instead of feeling sad about it, Agatha just wanted to ignore everything and play it cool.
She shoved her hand inside her pocket and showed the sweets she brought for the kids.
“Who wants candies and chocolates?!” Agatha asked, changing the topic.
“Me!”
“Me! First!”
With the kids, Agatha wanted to forget all of her worries and have fun.
Agatha helped with the chores in the orphanage. When she was done, the kids asked her to play with them.
The kids were so energetic, and so Agatha called for a time-out.
“Wait wait. I’m too tired. I’ll rest, okay?” She sat down on the grass as the kids ran away. “Kids are too energetic,” she murmured.
Sitting on the grass, Agatha looked around the peaceful orphanage.
Now that she’s also an orphan, she feels that she really belongs here.
'Maybe, if I am not Brett's slave, and I don't need to seduce Lanceil, I might stay here and help Jasfer take care of the kids,' she thought.
"I wish I could stay here for a little longer," she mumbled, looking at the sunset.
“Agatha?”
A voice called her from behind. She thought it was Jasfer, so she quickly stood up and said, "I know, I know. I can't rest. Here I g.."
But it wasn't Jasfer. The man who called her from behind was someone she didn't expect to see in this place.
On the other hand, the other person thought the same.
“What are you doing here?” asked Lanceil.
“S-Sir,” Agatha stuttered.
