Two weeks later...

Galene woke up to commotion in the castle. There were noises everywhere and it was just as if a market was going on in the castle.

She gently rose from the bed, glance at her side to see Diana still sleeping. Luciana was out of her bed already.

She stood up and tapped Diana till she also got up. Diana stretched herself yawning.

"What happened Galene," Diana asked with a sleepy voice.

"I do not have an idea, can you hear the voices outside?" Galene questioned and Diana's eyes dilated.

"What could be going on?" Diana thought and properly stood up, wore her footwear, and signaled on Galene to follow her.

"We should go check out" Said Diana as she began walking out of the room.

They got outside and guards could be seen loitering around the hallway.

Every one of them seemed to be searching for something as they kept opening doors and looking around.

Ass Galene stood watching the guards in confusion, one of her husband's close guards walked by and Galene quickly stopped him.

"Tell me Duru, what is going on and why does every guard and warrior seem to be in search of something," Galene asked, her eyes burning in curiosity.

Diana nodded supporting her as they both pleaded with the guard to tell them what was happening.

"Master Damien has disappeared from the room he was kept. The physician had gone to administer treatment to him as usual but he couldn't find him" Duru said and Galene heard a bang in her head.

According to him, master Damien showed no sign of improvement last night and the poison was still deeply rooted in him so he believe he was taken away by some people" Duru concluded and quickly left.

Galene stood speechless, what was he talking about? Her own husband was nowhere to be found and no one could tell where he was.

Diana held her firmly preventing her slumping and collapsing. Galene stood speechless for more than a minute processing the whole words she just heard from Duru.

When it finally registered to her, Galene let out a loud piercing scream before shutting out in Diana's hand.

Diana screamed for help and two guards passing by stopped and quickly took the unconscious Galene from her.

Since they were still standing in front of their room, the guards took her in.

They laid her on the bed, her eyelid was tightly shut. Tears streamed down Diana's eyes.

"Why now? Why is her friend going through this much torture while carrying a life in her?

This is too much, come to the aid of my friend. I know you exist and you would fight for her" Diana muttered a short prayer and just then the door opened and Luciana rushed in.

"Someone told me Galene fainted, what happened" Luciana queried rushing to Galene's side.

"I guess she must have heard the news"

"Yes, she did. Duru told us"

"My heart aches for Galene. She's in terrible pain and she needs us to survive" Luciana said rubbing Galene's forehead which was blazing hot.

"Yes and we must do that, we have to console and make her believe master Damien was taken by someone who wants to save his life," Luciana said and Diana nodded.

"I support your words"

Galene woke up with a banging headache. She hadn't eaten since yesterday after Mariam had denied her food for the whole day.

She had initially said Galene would only eat in the night but Galene delayed bringing Mariam's lunch on time causing her dinner to be canceled.

She had to starve the whole day and now, her stomach hurts from hunger.

No one was in the room so she decided to go to the kitchen and get food from Luciana.

She began walking through the hallway leading to the servant's kitchen.

Since he has become a servant, she has nothing to do in the master's kitchen.

People she encounter on the way all stared at her pitifully and Galene did not bother wondering why they all looked at her that way.

Ever since her position was taken, she has always received pity stares from tons of servants.

Most of them mock her but today, even the ones mocking her all had a look of sadness mixed with pity on their faces.

Galene ignored them and kept walking to the kitchen. She was too hungry to bother about some weird looks.

She got to the kitchen and entered, staring around in search of Luciana. She needed to eat quickly and go to Mariam's side where she would do her biddings.

Galene sighed when she couldn't find Luciana anywhere in the kitchen. She needs food, her baby needs food.

She lowered herself on a stool, still looking around for Luciana, Galene sniffed.

The smell of food from the pots was making her stomach rumble more. If she doesn't have food now then she might die.

An elderly woman noticed her clutching her stomach and figured she was hungry.

She sighed staring at their master's wife cry out of hunger. She quickly took out a plate and scooped a large portion of food into the plate.

"Here milady, I noticed you were hungry," the woman said handing the food over to Galene.

"Galene quickly grabbed the food and began digging in not sparing the woman a glance.

She discarded the spoon and devour the food with her hands. She never knew how hungry she was until she saw the food.

The woman stood there watching her eat so hungrily wondering how long she had been starving.

She prays their master returns to pay back in coins to his betrayals.

Galene finished the food in the blink of an eye. The woman handed a cup of water to her and she gulped it down.

Galene heaved a sigh of relief then looked up to see the person who gave her food.

She recognized the woman. She was the same person that fed her that faithful day she had lost her way looking for the kitchen when she was master Damien's sex slave.

Ever since that day, she had never returned to the kitchen and didn't see the woman again till now.

She saved her life again. "Thank you so much, madam. You have saved my life yet again and this time, I promise not to forget you" Galene said thanking the woman.

"You are welcome, dear. You shouldn't starve yourself no matter what. Even if they refuse you food, come to me and I would find you something to eat. Please do not starve again for the sake of your unborn child" the woman said.

"I will madam, thank you so much" Galene uttered and since Luciana wasn't back yet, she bade the woman goodbye promising to do as she said before leaving the kitchen.

"Where have you been, Lady Mariam has been looking all over the place for you" one of Mariam's servants whose name was Rebecca.

She was always helping Galene do her chores whenever Mariam wasn't in sight.

She had helped and assisted Galene a lot and Galene couldn't help but be thankful.

"I was at the kitchen" Galene replied and the girl sighed sadly, her gaze fixed on Galene.

She was facing a lot of pain and trauma at this her young age. First, her husband was shot with a poisoned arrow, and next, their most trusted persons betrayed and turned her into a slave not minding her pregnant state and now, her husband was no were to be found. He had disappeared from his sickbed.

She couldn't help but pity Galene. At her age, she had through a lot of pain and trauma.

Rebecca wondered how Galene would cope with the news of her husband's disappearance. It was obvious by the look on her face, she hasn't heard it.

"Okay, let us go, she is in the hall with Master Robin and some council members.

"Galene nodded and followed Rebecca to the hall and when she got there, the first thing she received was a slap from Mariam.

Slapping and hitting Galene's face had become Mariam's norm over the week.

Every time she hits Galene, she makes sure it was on the face.

One could tell she was jealous of Galene's ethereal beauty and she planned to destroy her face with slaps which don't seem to be having any effect on Galene.

"How dare you keep us waiting" Mariam yelled and Galene slowly apologized.

"Galene" Master Robin called and Galene looked up, her gaze holding hatred in them.

Ever since Master Robin began making advances at her, Galene's hatred towards him has grown to a third-degree hatred.

"Yes," Galene answered. She had never for one day addressed Robin as master nor do she address Mariam as lady Mariam.

No matter the punishment they make her face, she would never give her husband's title to a thief who stole it away.

They had gotten tired of forcing her to address them properly and decided to let her be since she was head bent.

"Your husband is missing from his sickbed, do you have any idea of that?" Master Robin asked and everyone's eyes moved to Galene.

Galene stares around in confusion. What are they talking about? As far as she was concerned, what happened earlier was just a dream which woke up from.

Staring back at them, Galene's eyes began dilating, she staggered back and fell to the floor.

The guards rushed and bundled her up.

"Get the physician" one of the council elders yelled and a guard rushed out to call the physician.

Galene was laying on the bed unconscious, she had been taken back to their room after the physician examined her and confirmed she has been stressing out herself a lot and her baby could barely handle the stress.

He had suggested they allow her to rest for a week and feed well for her to be able to recuperate.

Mariam was not in support of what the doctor said and she had blatantly refused to say no one was stressing Galene but the council of elders ordered she should be allowed to rest as the doctor said.

Diana and Luciana took great care of their friend. After hearing the doctor's report, they made sure to always take turns to be by Galene's side.

Luciana made it a duty to always bring food and drink for her. The elderly woman who was called Madam Pat also assisted and made sure she cooks enough vegetables for Galene.

Galene had enough rest that by the end of her rest break, she was strong and her baby too was kicking healthily.

Mariam sat on the stool in their chamber desperately waiting for Master Robin.

Ever since they took out Master Damien, Robin has not fulfilled his promise of making her his bride and she was beginning to get worried.

Every time she tries to bring up the topic, he would tactically brush it aside and claim to be busy and would talk about it later but never will.

Tonight, they must have that conversation he wasn't ready for. She would not help him out and then he fail his promise of marrying her.

It's going to be a month since he became the clan reader and he had told her he would marry her as soon as he was announced.

Her legs impatiently hitting the floor and her gaze fixed towards the door, Mariam waited.

Not long enough, the door opened and Master Robin entered. He stare at Mariam who was sitting at the table and staring at him in rage, he sensed she was about to raise the topic of getting married to her again.

He wouldn't want to do that, he had eyes for only Galene and the only thing he was waiting for was for her to put to bed then he would forcefully make her his.
