Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Acwell searched "City of Angels," and what caught his eyes was the place, Los Angeles. It is the Spanish for "the Angels," which is why it's known as the "City of Angels." But he dismissed the thought as plain coincident. He can't expect Kamiah to go there.

He tried to contact the babysitter, but she did not reply. It is unusual because she usually does, especially when asked about Kai. Acwell is suspecting that she knew where Kamiah and Kai are, but she doesn't want to tell him. He tried to call her, but she won't pick up.

Acwell was busy checking his phone, whom to call and ask when Catrina called all of a sudden. He is not happy with her calling, but he answered it.

"Hello," he said.

"Hi, Acwell. I am just calling to let you know that Amara got discharged from the hospital today. We are already home."

"That's great! How is she feeling?"

"She is doing well, now. She is eating and playing."

"Good."

"But why did you not come back to revisit her?"

"I am currently busy with a lot of things, Catrina. I cannot even go to work today."

"Oh, so you are not working? Can you visit her, then?"

"Not now, Catrina. As I said, I am busy with something important."

"For your wife and kid, again? How many days are you going to spend with them? What about Amara?"

"Was I not there for you when she was sick? I ignored my wife and son for that day, Catrina."

"Good! Because she is not the only one who deserves your time."

"And I am regretting it."

"What!? So, you regret being with your daughter, who was at the hospital? How selfish and heartless are you?"

"You don't understand me, Catrina. And I don't want to explain it to you. I will visit you when I have the time. Now, I have to go."

Acwell hung up before Catrina could even answer him. He felt a little guilty saying that he regretted being at the hospital, but it was true. Because he was there the whole night, he lost his family.

Kamiah got fed up with him before he could even explain. He should have done it sooner. They might have not left him.

He found a number that is labeled as A only. He remembered that it was Kamiah's friend, but he doesn't know who. It was Kamiah who saved that number in a hurry when her friend was dictating it to her.

Acwell tried to call that number, but he got no answer. He sends her a message, but she was not online on WhatsApp, so she did not reply. He is hoping that when she goes online, she will read and respond to the message.

He checked Kamiah's friend list on Facebook. He came across the name Camila. Acwell remembered that it's one of Kamiah's friends who lives in New York. They are always in contact, so he hoped that maybe she would know where they are.

Luckily, Camila was online, so Acwell immediately drops her a message.

"Hello, Camila! I am Acwell, Kamiah's husband. I am sorry to bother you, but is it okay to ask you a question?"

Camila has read the message, and now she is typing her response. Acwell was feeling nervous but hoping for a good answer from her.

"Hello, Acwell! I am kind of expecting you to contact me. How can I help you?"

"You are expecting me to contact you? I feel relief then. I really hope you could help me. I know you and Kamiah are quite close. So, by any chance, did she happen to talk to you about going somewhere?"

"Yes. A few days ago, we chatted before I left for Toronto. She was planning to leave Dubai for good."

Leave Dubai? For good? Reading that made Acwell panic. Where would Kamiah go?

"Oh, you are in Toronto? I thought you were in New York. But anyway, what else did Kamiah say?"

"I will be on training here in Toronto and will go back to the US but in LA this time. Kamiah seemed to be interested in going to LA, but she has not really confirmed it. All I know is that she had resigned from work. And once she has all the documents, she will be leaving Dubai. But to where, I am not sure. I was thinking going home for good."

Los Angeles? Did she really go there?

"You haven't talked to her recently?"

"Nope. I got busy when I arrived here in Toronto. But, Acwell, I don't appreciate what you did to hear. I don't know the full details. All I know is that you hurt her deeply."

"I know I messed up. I am trying to fix things, but I don't know where Kamiah and Kai are now. I am even glad that you are giving me some information because most of the people I asked are either they don't know or won't tell me."

"I am telling you of what I know because of Kai. I hate for him to grow up with a broken family. If there is a chance for things to get fixed and you to change, I will help. But this is the last time that I want to hear my friend cry. You have made her cry more than enough."

"I know. And I am grateful for another chance you have given me."

"Now, I don't know where she went. But once she contacts me, I will let you know."

"Thanks a lot."

Acwell has mixed emotions. He feels hurt that maybe Kamiah and Kai did leave Dubai. Where will he find them? But he feels relief that somehow he had found someone that might be his source of finding his family.

He was looking at all of Kamiah's pictures on Facebook.

"You are so beautiful, Kamiah. I don't think I could handle it if you are gone for good. I miss you so much and even Kai, too. I don't want another man to have you both. I have always thought of the both of you as mine."
