Chapter 1: Chapter 1
“Are you sure that this would be the perfect time to do this?” Adeline exclaimed while gawking at her vintage car. Porsche Cyan Black.
“Of course it is. Revenge is tasteful when it has an element of surprise.” Her friend on the phone with a tingly voice sounded so sure about the premonition.
Adeline gulped for a few times before answering her friend.
“Not that I want this night to go in vain.” Now she’s a bit sure of the thing that she will be doing. It was not her plan to do so, but he’s leading him no choice. She’s been containing her self for almost a week now.
Since last week she hadn’t had the courage to come to school. He felt too embarrassed to do so. She felt so so sick for the entire week, couldn’t even eat even scraped of food on the table. He’s thinking way too deep and it’s all because of Zach.
Her eyes pinched a bit when he passed Code Blue Street. The stoplight made her heart skip a bit. It would be the most reckless thing she would do. But, she’s already at the streets-end and a few blocks away would be Zach’s house.
“I know right, how could she even do it.” Cheska motioned her hands.
“I don’t care anyway. It’s as if I was part of his life on the first place.”
“Which supposedly you are.” Cheska spang her head lightly with a spoon. Interrupting her for a bit then continued to eat.
“We just broke up a few weeks ago and now he’s dating another woman? Is that what you called, love?” Adeline sips her cola after that almost disgusting line she said. She bitterly looked at her friend then to the side table where her ex, Jason sat with his new girl, Patricia.
She immediately take her eyes off from them and continues to pretend like they didn’t exist. Honestly she’s a little bit hurt with the fact that Jason replaced her with Patricia for just a week after their sudden break up. It was as if she didn’t want to but it just made her ego a little bit damaged.
“Are you okay” Cheska tapped her shoulder when she noticed her mind was flying all over the place.
“Of course I am.” She immediately answered, then continued to eat.
Lunch hours were the busiest. Students almost fill the cafeteria space. Tables are full, mostly with people eating but sometimes with people who just wants to kill time. Just like now, she just notice Tamarin’s group occupies the last row of tables beside the big cola machine. They were called as the Spice Girls. They wear flashy colorful clothes that sometimes or most probably been over the top. They also have such odd taste in make-up. Then on the other side of their table was the Musicals, which was occupied by Andre’s group. They are good at music, plays at every school music festivals and were famous for their looks- but she thinks they were too good to be true. They’ve been rumored to have such bad reputation outside the campus.
Adeline’s eyes then glued on the table in front of her. Zach was looking at her intently. It was as if he’s smirking. Then had to whisper on his group of friends then looked at her back again. Adeline became conscious and had to take her stares back. She pretended to have looked at Cheska who is dutifully eating her salad, but to be honest her eyes were slightly tangled to Zach.
Is it just her being paranoid or Zach really has a bad plan on her.
Zach and his group of friends were notorious for being such a pain in the ass. Last year, the school was thrown into chaos when one of the sophomores just got hospitalized for how many weeks due to serious head injuries. Zach was almost thrown into prison, but bail got him out. A few years back, he was also involved in an outside hit and run. It was said that a female high school student almost died because of him.
“You seem pale?” Cheska asked her out of nowhere. “Are you really okay?”
She just nodded and continued to focus on the plate although there’s almost nothing in there. Her heart just skips a beat when she noticed that Zach stood up and is walking towards their table.
Honestly, Cheska and her were the kinds of students who were commoners. Not famous, no powerful families, not rich and most especially not that beautiful. In other words they were invisible from everyone. No one bother’s them and same thing as no one knows who they are.
“I think we need to go.” She nervously spoke, almost muffering.
“Why? Class was cancelled for the next period.” Her friend’s forehead curved.
“We just have to go.” Her almost begging.
She and her friend was about to stand up, pack their things and leave when Zach’s deep and solid voice interrupted them. Adeline couldn’t move. Her feet just felt a little numb, she’s about to tremble but she had managed to sustain herself.
“And where could you be going?” Adeline looked at Cheska whom she knew have the same feeling with her.
Fear.
“I think you have to face me when I’m talking.” Zach’s voice became a little bit deeper this time. Adeline faces him with such courage. Their eyes met. Zach’s dark black eyes almost made her choke. Her heart almost stops.
“Jason is just over there. Aren’t you even bothered to see him clinging his arms to someone else?” Zach pointed where Jason is intently looking at them. Everybody around them just stops whatever they are busy into and eyes were glued upon them. She’s embarrassed.
“Jason, said that you were such a boring kind, lousy and out of his taste. It seems to me that he’s right” he smirked. Everyone on the room started laughing. Some were even looking at her like she’s a total loser.
“Who would have looked at you. My Mom’s a lot more beautiful even you dressed well.” Then followed by a synchronous laugh from everyone.
“Just don’t bother Mother Theresa, dude.” Someone from their table shouted then laughed.
Zach raises his hand as if he’s done nothing. He smirked at her then walked back to his table. Adeline just couldn’t stand being humiliated in front of the whole school like that. She had to take actions.
Her fear just transformed into an earth-shattering rage. With her thick History books in hand. She just furiously walked pass everyone and smack Zach’s head, twice.
“Jerk! Asshole!” her eyes aflame.
“Fuck!” Zach exclaimed patting his head. He’s enraged, his eyes resembles death wish.
“Are you fucking insane?”
“I think I am. I just wanna see how your head works having smashed with these books. I think it’s not empty now.” After rolling her eyes. Adeline walk passed him and immediately evaporated from the place.
Since then, Adeline’s life has been chaotic. She can’t sleep, can’t go to school not being problematic and most importantly not being embarrassed. On a blink of an eye her normal life was thrown all over the place.
