Chapter 713: Chapter 713

A maid of the Adams Residence stood there, frozen in horror at the sight of the garden ruined by Mira and Meilin’s fight. Her attire also made it clear that she was the maid in charge of the garden, and it did not take long for Mira and Meilin to realize what they had done.

“I’m…uh…sorry about that.”

“Ah…I’m really sorry.”

As their combat high receded, they ran up to the maid and lowered their heads while apologizing profusely.

After that, they volunteered to clean up the garden themselves, starting by flattening out the ravaged ground, gathering the plants and dirt that had gotten blown away, and repairing the fence that had fallen apart, all according to the directions the maid gave them.

While working on that, Martel decided she could not let the opportunity pass up, or maybe she was simply driven by kindness, but whichever the case, she decided to offer her help as well.

By now, Mira had also gotten more used to the power of the Spirit King, so Martel could channel some of her power through it and let Mira use it. That was something Mira happily accepted, and put to use in amending the garden.

“You won’t find anyone better than me when it comes to plants!”

Mira announced that confidently as she began using Martel’s power to reinvigorate the destroyed garden, and to great effect.

“It looks so pretty… That’s incredible!”

Vanessa, the maid, was really impressed by the result, which put Mira in a really good mood, after which she went to the outer border past the fence to amend those plants too.

In the end, they also were covered in verdant green leaves, their flowers blooming majestically, and four trees stood tall and firm in each corner of the garden. They were Soul Nuclide trees1 called Mist Quill, which were known for having flowers that looked like falling feathers. The patriarch of the Adams family, Henry’s father, had brought the seeds from one of his travels to grow them in the garden.

They were known for being tricky to raise, and Vanessa had gone through many troubles just to get them to that size.

So Mira had some advice for her, saying, “If you pour a mana potion on them once a month, their leaves will start to glow faintly making them look even more impressive. You should try that sometime.”

That was a little known reaction produced by the special properties of Mist Quill trees. But all of Martel’s knowledge was freely offered by her.

By that point, Vanessa went from seeing Mira as a rowdy summoner that ruined her garden into thinking of her as a plant specialist. “I’ll try it out tonight!” she said with excitement, before letting out a short, “Ah,” and running off somewhere. Moments later, she came back holding three black seeds.

“So I have these, but…”

Those seeds had also been brought there by Henry’s father, but all he knew was that they came from some fruit he ate at a party, and very little else.

He had simply fallen in love with those fruits when he ate them, so he brought back the seeds. The fruit had been served cut into small pieces, so he did not even know what the full fruit looked like, or what color it was, all he knew was that it tasted good.

At least he had tried to get some information from the party’s host, who did not want to give out much information as it was something really rare, and just boasted about it.

“I tried planting them at different times and in different soil a lot of times, and I managed to get them to sprout five times, but without fail they always dried off shortly after… I really don’t know what I’m doing wrong.” ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ NoveI-Fire.ɴet

The seeds also looked really plain, so it was impossible to gain much knowledge from looking at them either.

After her many attempts, she was left with only three of them, at which point she stopped trying to grow them until she knew more about them. But Henry’s father was still looking forward to trying that fruit again, so Vanessa felt constant pressure to grow them somehow, and finally saw some hope now that Mira was there.

“Hmm… I guess servants have their own sorts of trouble then…”

Mira thought back to Lily and the other maids she knew, who fulfilled a similar role but seemed to have way too much free time in their hands. But Vanessa here was in a more difficult position.

“Let me take a look at them.”

As a sense of impending dread gradually grew stronger in Mira’s mind, she took one of the seeds and examined it closely.

It was an oval shaped seed, roughly the size of a thumb, and that was about it. Nothing uncommon about it, and it would not look out of place just sitting around in the wilderness.

‘That’s the seed of a King Tree Apple. I’m sure of it!’

As expected, the mother of all nature, Martel, knew instantly what it was, and also could pinpoint right away why all of Vanessa’s attempts had failed.

“I see, these seeds are…”

Mira began relaying everything Martel had told her, acting like she had always been really knowledgeable about it.

That seed had come from a special fruit called the King Tree Apple. And while it was called an apple, its texture was closer to that of a melon, while its outer hide was thin like an apple’s, making it really delicate, and difficult to grow while ensuring the fruits could ripen enough.

“But there’s something really important you should know if you still want to grow them.”

It would still take a long time of hardships before new fruits could be obtained.

Mira carefully explained all of that, but Vanessa did not seem distraught by it, and instead was filled with motivation to try again. So Mira told her the most important detail when growing them, “After they sprout, they can’t receive any light at all until they grow up to three meters tall.”

Vanessa was really shocked to hear that, which was understandable. It was common knowledge that plants and fruits needed plenty of sunlight to grow strong and tasty. But Mira, or rather Martel, said this was an exception.
