Chapter 81: Chapter 81

The sun shined warmly and illuminated Sevilon's mansion perfectly. He sat quiet and deep in thought at his terrace. Reena sat opposite him and just stared at him.

She wondered what was troubling him so much. He refused to eat since the previous night but chose to spend his time alone. Not even the sight of his sons cheered him up. Reena got up and left him alone.

She found Waxx who appeared 12 years old and Quix who appeared to be 10, peeping at him. Reena pulled their ears and led them away from Sevilon's ear shot.

"What did I tell you two about spying on people?" She scolded them.

"Mama, why is papa so sad?" Quix asked her. "He hasn't said anything to us since he got back home last night."

"Is he mad at us? Please tell him that we are sorry. We didn't mean to break the window with our ball." Waxx remorsefully added.

Reena smiled warmly at both of them. "No, your father isn't angry with you. He is just stressed with work. You know he works very hard and has little time for himself." Reena explained to them. "I think for now, just leave him alone. Allow him to rest and get his thoughts in order." She pinched their cheeks playfully.

"Okay!" Both boys said at once.

Reena looked over them and saw Melonina, one of her maid's daughter, nervously standing away from them. Reena gestured at her to go closer. Melonina slowly walked towards them. When Waxx looked at her, she blushed.

"Okay, you two play nice with her." Reena said. "Let me arrange some snacks for all of you." She said and all three children beamed with excitement.

Akirexer poured soup into a bowl. She put it on a tray and went up the stairs to Sharaina's room. Sharaina was sound asleep when she got in.

She had been feeling weak since the other day. The natrifin was still in her and it slowly killed her from the inside. Akirexer could clearly see that Sharaina was in great pain. Her heart ached to see her like that.

Akirexer put the soup on the head board. She wiped Sharaina's face with a wet cloth she kept in water just by the bed side because of Sharaina's profuse sweating. From the look of things she was getting worse by the minute.

Akirexer gently woke Sharaina up. Sharaina slowly opened her dull and sunken eyes. She couldn't see clearly but she knew that it was her mother by her bedside.

"It is time for your breakfast." Akirexer said trying her best not to sound sad. "I will put an extra pillow under your head so that I can feed you." She further said. Sharaina said nothing to her but weakly smiled at her.

Akirexer carefully slipped her palm underneath Sharaina's head. She raised her up and used her other hand to hold Sharaina's back because she couldn't sit . Akirexer rested Sharaina's head under her chin and quickly arranged the pillows. As soon as she was done, she gently laid down Sharaina; taking care not to touch her bandaged shoulder.

Akirexer then picked the bow and blew on the soup. She placed the spoon to Sharaina's mouth but she didn't open it. Akirexer tried again but Sharaina still didn't open her mouth. She just gazed into space with her eyelids partially closed.

Akirexer realized that Sharaina no longer had the strength to even eat. She got up and turned her back; crying deeply but silently.

Akirexer heard horses outside. She rushed out of the room with so much hope in her eyes. Sharumez and Naian looked up at her from down the stairs. Akirexer ran down and held Sharumez's hands.

"Were you able to find any gamarax manipulator to help us?" She asked him.

"No, no one has agreed to help us. They all the said the same thing the hospital staff told us." Sharumez sat down quiet in anguish.

"B-but why is the king doing this? Hasn't he punished Sharaina eno-" Akirexer croaked and Alainara held her.

"Mama, there should be some gamarax manipulators who will be willing to help despite the king's threat. We just have to keep looking." Naian softy voiced out.

There was a sudden knock at the door. Emelinia went to open it. She felt relieved to see Light there. Naian went to check who was there and when he saw Light, he became furious. He grabbed him by the collar and shoved him off their porch.

"I thought we made it clear to you last night to stay away from Sharaina. Why are you still coming back here?" Naian angrily told him.

"Please allow me to treat her, I am begging you." Light put his hands together.

"This is all your fault. If it wasn't for you, she would have been in Zambia and not here dying in her room!" Naian yelled at him.

"Why are you even pretending to care for her? Isn't your wedding in two weeks? Please you have used my daughter enough. Get out!" Sharumez joined in. He raised a finger at Light. "I hope you never endure the pain that I am going through when you have your own children one day. I regret the day I decided to let you get close to her."

At that point Light got down on his knees. "Please I am begging you. Allow me to treat her. She will die. Please! I promise you that I will walk out of her life as soon as she gets better. You will never see me around her again I assure you."

"No! Why should we believe you?" Naian asked him. "Just get out!" He pointed to the gate.

"He will not go anywhere!" Akirexer suddenly shouted.

Sharumez and Naian looked at her astonished. "What are you saying?" Sharumez asked her.

"Is your hatred for him greater than your love for your daughter?" Akirexer asked him back. She turned to Naian. "What about you? Is it so for you too?" She asked him but Naian remained silent. "He will treat Sharaina. Until she gets better, you will all have to tolerate him in this house."

"But mama," Naian started to say but Akirexer held her hand up.

"Right now as I am speaking to you, your sister can't even open her mouth to eat. No other gamarax manipulator will help us." Akirexer stood her ground.

"We will find one just have patience." Sharumez told her.

Akirexer shook her head. "No! I am warning you two, if I lose my daughter because of your anger, I will never forgive you. In fact, I will kill myself!"

Hearing that, Sharumez and Naian completely went silent. They scowled at Light who was still kneeling and left. Light got up and followed Akirexer inside the house. She led him to Sharaina's room.

Upon seeing Sharaina, Light rushed to her bedside. He covered his mouth when he took a good look at her. He felt a tight knot in his chest and rubbed his forehead in attempt to keep his composure.

"She is in a worse state than I imagined." He mouthed and got Akirexer afraid.

"What do we do?" She asked him.

"I have only four doses of the antidote but her infection is severe. She will have to hibernate for the quantity I have to work." He explained to her.

"No please. We are trying to stop her from hibernating or worse dying on us. Is there anything else you can do despite that?" She asked him with hopeful eyes.

"I am afraid there is none. Do not worry, I will induce her hibernation and utilize the antidote in four days while infusing pure gamarax into her. After four days, her system will be cleansed and she will be okay." Light assured Akirexer.

"Are you sure about this?" She asked him.

"Yes I am more than sure. I witnessed my mother do it to Lara once after she accidentally consumed natrifin. I feel confident enough to carry it out." Light said. "Please it is the only way." He insisted.

"You will need some help." Nelex suddenly said as he entered the room with Geren.

"I too, I'm here to lend a hand." Jayniss added.

"What do you say?" Light asked Akirexer hopefully.

Akirexer looked at everyone before her. She had never made a decision concerning Sharaina without Sharumez's consent. Sharumez was however too upset with her. She didn't even know if he would hear her out. She looked over to Sharaina. The sight of her taking short breaths as she fought for her life made her say;

"Do what you must."

"Thank you so much." Light emotionally said.

Nami heard from Stariss that Light had gone to treat Sharaina despite King Meelzib's command. She lost her mind and furiously went to Sharaina's home. She found Alainara at the door and shoved her aside.

"Light! Light! Get down here!" She screamed up the stairs; completely ignoring everyone glaring at her in the living room.

Light left Sharaina's bed side and went to address Nami. Everyone else followed him downstairs. Nami glared at him while he looked indifferent. The sight of Jayniss there made Nami furious with rage.

"What do you think you two doing here?" Nami angrily asked Light and Jayniss. "King Meelzib forbade any gamarax manipulator from treating Sharaina."

"Yes, so?" Light coldly asked her.

"You better stop this foolishness Light." Nami furiously pointed at him.

"I am not going anywhere. I will stay here and treat Sharaina. Neither you nor the King will make me change my mind." Light told her.

"Light I am warning you! If you don't leave with me right this instant, you can forget that you have a mother!"

Light slapped his hands together and smiled. "Thank you! Please disown me I am begging you. You have completely ruined my life. You walking out of what is left of it would be the best thing you would ever do for me. I am ashamed to have you as my mother. You are a mother yet you treated a daughter of another family as though you know nothing about the pain of a parent."

"LIGHT!" Nami exploded.

"Be quiet, there is a patient in this house. You should know better than to make noise. In fact, please just go home and stay away from here. Your absence will be greatly appreciated."

Nami started to laugh. Her demented smile spread across her face. She took out a syringe from her pocket and poked the needle on her neck. Jayniss' eyes widened at that. The liquid in the syringe was natrifin. She fused in a little of it and groaned in pain.

"I will kill myself right here if you don't come home with me and prepare for your marriage to Yolin." Nami threatened with a sinister smirk across her face.

"Mama, I thought that there was nothing you could do to make the situation even worse. Today you have completely finished me. I see clearly now that you are a selfish woman who only cares about your happiness. I am so heartbroken with what you have done." Light sadly said. "Despite knowing that I love Sharaina, you still went out of your way to take her from me. You even wished death upon her. Mama you are a wicked woman. Well congratulations, you have succeeded in separating her from me. You deserve all the praise for your wickness." Light continued with a frown.

He walked to Nami and roughly snatched the syringe. "I will marry Yolin as you wish." He said and Nami's face lightened up. "I however, will not leave with you. If you force me, I will use this to kill myself. It will be better to die with Sharaina than live with the guilt of not saving her."

Light's words stunned Sharumez, Naian and Akirexer. They could feel how sincere his words were. They began to reconsider their thoughts of him.

Emelinia felt a warm feeling in her heart. She caught Jayniss holding her heart and she agreed that they both felt warm after what Light had just said.

"Please, leave now." He requested of Nami. Nami looked at everyone blankly and left the house. Light turned to them with his hands together. "I am so sorry for my mother's behavior." He said and Akirexer nodded her head. Light slowly turned and walked back up to Sharaina's room.

Light went back and sat on Sharaina's bed. He looked over at the bandage on her shoulder. He pulled the covers away and started unwrapping it. The whole time he was doing so, Sharaina looked away gazing into space with her eyes partially closed. She could no longer see anything. All she could do was hear the little sounds Light was making as he got the bandage off her.

He looked at her bite wound and swore he could feel the pain. It was so deep that Light could clearly see the green natrifin deep in her body. Some of it was even oozing out with puss and blood. Light wiped it off with his handkerchief before it got to the covers.

He pulled the cover and bed sheet off Sharaina and tossed them on the couch. Sharaina's other scratch and bite marks all over her body became visible because her short night dress could barely hide them.

Nelex , Geren and Jayniss entered the room. Nelex and Geren faced away when they saw Sharaina half naked. Jayniss on the other hand gasped and ran to her. She watched Light place his hand on Sharaina's severely wounded shoulder.

He began transferring his gamarax to her. The wound started to slowly close. It closed and closed until it was completely healed. When Light took his hand out, there wasn't even a scar left.

He moved to a scratch on her thigh and he healed it completely. Jayniss rushed to his aid and healed other bite marks.

Akirexer walked into the room and watched them heal Sharaina. Light pulled out a box from his pocket. In it was the antidote in four tiny bottles. He picked one and drew it out with a syringe. Without wasting any time, he held Sharaina's hand and injected it into her. Sharaina didn't react to the feeling of the needle. She just lay there staring into space.

"This will do for now." Light said. He turned to everyone. "I need you all to leave the room. I have to induce her hibernation. Your presence here may disturb the flow of gamarax from me to her." Light explained to them.

"You don't have enough in you to keep her a float so that she doesn't fall into prolonged hibernation." Nelex pointed out.

"Yes you are right. I only have enough to sustain her for the next two hours." Light held his chin but snapped his finger next. "You guys should go and feed. You can then come back here and give me everything you have so that I give it to her."

Jayniss stepped up. "But how though? We can't come here to give you because we will disturb the flow of energy. Doing it outside will attract attention and we may end up getting arrested. The next room also isn't good enough because we will be too close to you."

"You will use Sharumez and my room. It's down across the hall from here. Surely it will be good enough right?" Akirexer asked them.

Geren stepped out and looked at it. He compared the distance and nodded his head. "It will work out. We will be taking turns. This way, we won't run out of gamarax to transfer."

"Okay let's do this." Light said.
