Chapter 78: Chapter 78
Nami returned to Gemhules. She looked over to Sharaina's home and saw everyone outside chatting. Emelinia was braiding Precious's hair while Nalvin was playing in Naian's arms. Sharumez and Akirexer were talking while Alainara sat alone reading on the verandah. Nami was very pleased that everyone was home. She strutted to the house. Akirexer welcomed her upon seeing her.
"Hello Nami." Akirexer greeted her.
"Are you not ashamed of yourself for being a bad mother?" Nami asked Akirexer.
Akirexer looked at Sharumez baffled before turning back to Nami. "What do you mean?"
"How could you send your daughter to come after my son?" Nami asked her again. This time she attracted the attention of Naian, Emelinia and Alainara. "Light is engaged to someone else. He will never ever marry your useless daughter so why did you encourage her to throw herself on him? Is seducing other people's men a trait in this family? First you got your son to marry your husband's concubine then now you sent your hopeless daughter to seduce my naïve son! All just so you could have some extra money in your porous pockets!"
"What the hell did she just say?!" Naian got angry.
"You heard me loud and clear. What a disgraceful family!" Nami spat.
Akirexer angrily got up. "Not another word from your mouth! How dare you just show up and insult us like this?"
"You are a terrible mother! You failed to raise your daughter as a lady. Instead she is a trouble making drunkard. Now you have upgraded her into a man stealer!"
Akirexer slapped Nami across the face. The slap was so loud that the horses galloped away to the back of the yard.
Emelinia took her children into the house. Nami looked at Akirexer through her hair. Akirexer was glaring at her so much that Nami thought that the fire in her eyes was going to burn her alive. This excited her because it the reaction she was hoping to achieve.
Sharumez pulled Akirexer behind him. "Nami, we respected you and your family. Your insults have not only angered us but have made us lose our respect for you. We don't care what you think about us and we most certainly don't care what you think about our daughter. We know that she can never do the things that you are accusing her of. It is your liar of a son who is at fault and not our daughter." Sharumez angrily told her while his hand kept Akirexer at bay.
"My son?!" Nami screamed at Sharumez.
"Yes your son!" Naian raised his voice at her and Nami took a step back. "I am so disappointed in Light. He had us all fooled when he acted as though he cared for her." Naian complained to his angry parents. He peeled his eyes off them and looked sharply at Nami. "It was he that knew that he was engaged yet he came after my sister. How dare you accuse her of such horrible things when you know that he is the one at fault?!"
"A characterless family like yours can never see that it is the shameless acts of stupid girls like Sharaina which destroy people's lives! I don't want to ever see your daughter around my son again. Tell her to stay away from him or else!"
"Well we don't want your lying good for nothing son around our daughter either!" Akirexer screamed at her. "Get out of our land!"
Nami stormed out of the yard. Mission accomplished. She smiled to herself.

Sharaina went back to her office. She heard the whispers around her and saw how the people looked at her with their judgmental eyes. She went into her office and closed the door. Her tears dropped and she hastily wiped them.
"No, I will not reduce myself to tears here." She resolved with shaky determination. She sat at her desk and buried her head in her arms.
Vice commander Holan heard that she was back and he stormed into her office. Sharaina lifted her head and took a look at the files in his hands. He threw them on her table.
"Next time, before you leave, you inform me. Our work is not part of your perverted and shameful life style." He sternly said to her.
Sharaina felt her heart tighten with a hot burning sensation running through her body. Her fangs popped out and she closed her mouth to hide them. She held her breath and waited for Holan to leave her office. Once he was gone she breathed out. Her fangs, to her relief were gone. Her secretary was next to go into the office.
"Captain, vice commander Holan says that he needs the files he has just given you in the next fifteen minutes." She stated.
"Yeah, sure." Sharaina secretly scratched her armrest and the glass of water on her table cracked to which the secretary took note of.
"Captain, if there is anything you need. Please let me know." The secretary said again.
Sharaina's eyes glowed for a mini second. "Just get out. I need space." She aggressively told the secretary and she left without another word.
Sharaina drank the water and it calmed her a little. She picked up the files the vice commander left and she started working on them. It took her ten minutes. She got up and walked to Commander Sevilon's office. He allowed her in after one knock.
"Are those the reports regarding the MidNight Crawler's whereabouts?" Sevilon asked her.
"Yes sir." Sharaina confirmed and swallowed hard. She could still feel it coming. She wiped the sweat off her forehead as she watched Commander Sevilon sign them. "Sir, I am not in my right mind. I desperately need to go home. Please grant me permission." Sharaina requested with a bow.
"Oh no you won't." Holan said as he entered the office. He didn't knock as usual. "This isn't your father's office where you can come and go as you please. You already went out for four hours without permission. We have to invade those villages where the other MidNight Crawlers are hiding and eliminate them. We have too much work to do."
"I'm sorry Sharaina but vice commander Holan is right. We need you on the field. You can take a day off tomorrow." Sevilon agreed and Holan smirked
"Yes sir." Sharaina said in defeat and left the office.
Sharaina joined the army outside on horses and dragons. She stood away from them because she was in no mood to engage into any conversation with anyone.
Holan brushed against her as he made his way to a dragon. Sharaina didn't feel herself glaring at him. She got onto another dragon. The dragons breathed fire and portals to Dark Star appeared.
They stepped into a remote and nameless village. The mud houses were so tiny and poorly made. Their grass roofs were falling apart. The people in the village wore rags and most of them had no shoes. Children cried of hunger while their mothers cried with them. The moment the villagers saw the army, they were horrified. They knelt down with their heads down.
Holan looked over them with a stoic. "We have heard that you are harboring fugitives here. Surrender them to us or face the consequences." He ordered them.
The people were dead silent. Sharaina looked at how scared they were and took pity on them. Majority of them were women and children. Sharaina scanned the area and she couldn't sense any other darkas gods around. She, however, could see the boot and foot prints on the ground. She jumped off the dragon and examined some of them.
"Sir, the MidNight Crawlers were in deed here. From the look of things, they seem to have deserted this place. Someone must have tipped them off." Sharaina said to Holan.
"Where have they gone?" He asked the people but they still remained silent. "If you do not speak, you will all die by fire." He warned them. "SPEAK!" He lost his patience but still none of them spoke. "Set the whole village ablaze." Holan ordered his men.
"No you mustn't." Sharaina spoke up. "Look at them, they are women and children. They are also afraid. The MidNight Crawlers must have threatened them severely. Look at these foot prints alongside the boot prints. They are smaller foot prints that I suspect to have been for children the MidNight Crawlers are keeping as hostages. Their fear of losing their children is what is keeping their mouths closed." Sharaina tried to reason with Holan and that only infuriated him.
"Captain Sharaina, need I remind you of your place? Follow your orders!" He raised his voice at her.
"There is absolutely no need to kill these people." Sharaina stood her ground.
Holan hopped off his dragon. "Are you insane? Did that humiliating display you had this morning knock your senses out?" He asked her in disbelief. "These are peasants no one cares about. Keeping information about fugitives is also a serious offense. For their insolence, they have to die!"
"Who are you to sentence them to death?" Sharaina asked him.
"I am warning you captain. Get out of my way! Stop talking back at me. Do you want people to think that I am sleeping with you so that's why you are getting the courage to stand up against me? Unlike you, I worry about my own reputation. Little whores like you can never drag me down." Holan rudely continued and gasps sounded.
"In as much as you are my superior, you have no right whatsoever to call me names vice commander." Sharaina told him. She felt the beast mode coming close. Her eyes started beaming and she blinked several times to return them to normal.
"Look at her, she thinks she can scare me with her petty anger. The truth is a bitter pill to swallow isn't it?"
Sharaina turned away from him and covered her face. The villagers looked at her with pity in their eyes. They all thought that she was crying but she was losing a battle to the power within her.
The horses near Sharaina lost control in fright. They stood on their back legs and kicked their front legs in the air. Their riders struggled to keep them calm.
"You know what? I pity your father for having fathered a whore of a daughter like you. He is probably a fool himself too. Any man who can't control his daughter is a spineless fool who deserves to be impotent. Why have daughters that just end up bringing you shame?" Holan laughed. He walked over to Sharaina and placed his hand on her shoulder. "Get out of my way or you will die along with these peasants."
Sharaina suddenly turned to him and grabbed him by the neck. She opened her eyes and they were beaming red. Holan couldn't break free. He felt paralyzed and helpless.
He was forced to look into Sharaina's soulless eyes. He could feel the heat just by looking into them. His dragon came to his rescue but Sharaina punched it hard under its chin. The dragon immediately disappeared with the blow.
Warriors pointed their weapons at Sharaina. They drew closer to her but fell down paralyzed before they could even reach her. Sharaina smashed Holan hard into the ground. She kicked him hard in his rib cage and he crushed into some of the houses.
The villagers scampered away screaming in fear. Holan still felt paralyzed and to his dismay, Sharaina landed beside him with a thud. In her hands was tree that she held up high.
"You know what vice commander Holan, I have been holding in my anger all day because I knew that I would turn into this if I lost it." Sharaina's raspy demonic voice echoed. "With all your shameful acts, you have the nerve to call my father a spineless fool? I can tolerate insults against myself but not my father. You are a disgusting and horrible man. You hide your heinous acts and pretend to be righteous and wise in front of others. I can see right through people like you. You speak of raising daughters as though you have ever raised one yourself. On one hand you ignore one daughter and on the other hand you reject the other. You are an arrogant fool who needs to be put in his place."
She started to repeatedly and brutally hit Holan with the tree. She kept on hitting him despite him turning black and blue. The tree broke into pieces as she hit him.
Holan's face was covered in blood. He had already fallen unconscious but Sharaina kept on hitting him. The horrifying sound of the tree hitting Holan echoed across the village; sending shivers down the spines of the villagers.
With every hit, Sharaina remembered her years with Light. All the promises they made to each other. All the love she thought she was getting from him. She thought about the times when she thought that she knew him.
He was the most important person in her life. The person she had given all her trust to. She trusted him more than she trusted herself. She felt angry that he had being betraying her since the beginning. She released all her anger on Holan.
Sevilon stepped out of a portal with the officers who went to go and get him. He was astonished to see Sharaina in the beast mode. He focused his gamarax on what remained of the tree and pulled it away from Sharaina.
Sevilon uprooted another tree and used it to hit Sharaina. Sharaina kicked it away and charged at him. His dragon slapped her away from him and she hit hard against a tree. The beast mode was immediately deactivated.
Sharaina got up and held her aching head. Her eyes widened when she saw Holan lying in a hole bloody and brutally beaten into hibernation. She realized that she had slipped into beast mode and she covered her mouth. Sevilon angrily went to her and gave her a hot slap across her face.
He grabbed her shoulders and shook her. "Do you have any idea of what you have done?!" He yelled at her. "Everything we have worked for till now is at risk of falling apart."
Some officers pounced on Sharaina and cuffed her. Sevilon helplessly watched them take her away. Now that she had attacked a vice commander, it was over. She was going to be thrown into The Terror Hole. There was completely no way of stopping King Meelzib from finding her now.

Back in Gemhules, Emelinia was placing food on the table while everyone was eating. Akirexer put food onto Precious' plate while she happily chatted with her grandfather.
Naian on the other hand was feeding Nalvin. He was talking to Alainara as he fed him. Emelinia was carrying the last dish of food to the table when she had a violent surge of energy and she screamed. She dropped the dish and held her head. Her eyes and birth mark were glowing purple.
She had a flashing vision of Sharaina in a destroyed Terror Hole. Hundreds of bodies of the audience lay unconscious due to the collapsed Terror Hole arena.
Sharaina was in her beast mode and running to King Meelzib with so much rage. She was about to grab him when over a dozen swords pierced through her body. She fell to the ground and life left her eyes.
Seeing Sharaina lifeless made Emelinia scream and she fainted on the floor. Naian got up and gave Nalvin to Alainara. He rushed to Emelinia who was already in the arms of Akirexer. Sharumez handed Naian a glass of water and he splashed it on her face. Emelinia woke up with another scream.
"Sharaina is in trouble!" She cried. "She is in trouble! We have to do something before it's too late!" She cried leaving everyone stunned.
