Chapter 64: Chapter 64

11 MONTHS LATER

Sharaina sat down in a park with Naraygeous, Zentz, Yolin and Lalina. They all had open books before them. Zentz was reading a text book with Sharaina looking at what he was reading. Yolin wrote it down while Lalina sat comfortably under Naraygeous's arm.

Their finals had already began. So far they had only done the physicals. They all did their best and were eager to get their results.

The training they were subjected to after they returned to the Academy was so gruesome that only 230 of them were left out of 3000. More than half were sent into hibernation, a good number were either suspended or expelled whereas others chose to quit.

Among other horrific conditions, they were forced to spend weeks locked in caskets that were hang upside down in a fiery pit of hell. Every meal time they received lashes and as they scavenged for their meals like animals.

They were forced out of their dorms and made to sleep outside in the cold for six months. It didn't matter whether it rained or not. Breaking the rules called for a hundred lashes and a week without food.

They spent more time in life threatening obstacle courses than they did in class. King Meelzib was more interested in their physic than their mental capabilities.

To top it off, at the end of each month, they were to fight each other to the death or hibernation. Those who hibernated were suspended and their families were heavily fined.

After all of that mutiny, the only thing remaining in order to move onto the next level were the theoretical exams they were to write that afternoon. Seeing how tough some of the topics were to understand, the group opted to have a group study.

Zentz was reading about the pact between a warrior darkas god and a human. They all found this topic to be a little too challenging to fully understand.

"Wait, just as your dragon can communicate with you telepathically, so can your none pure?" Lalina asked.

"Yes, exactly." Zentz answered. "However, a non pure can't have access to your inner thoughts or memories like a dragon can. They can only communicate with you telepathically. You on the other hand have access to your none pure's memories. Not their thoughts though. That remains a dragon's ability."

"Can we compare this link a none pure has to the link between two darkas gods that are married? You know, I'm talking about the link that is created when a man marks his wife." Naraygeous asked.

Zentz scratched his head, unsure about what to say. He elbowed Sharaina and she looked at him stunned.

"Well let's see..." Sharaina held her chin. "It is different in the sense that this ability is only restricted to warrior darkas gods and gamarax manipulators. The other two classes don't have the ability to mark their wives. Communication wise, the two can't communicate telepathically but they can feel each other's gamarax and also sense if one of them is life threatening trouble."

"Oh I see so that's the difference." Naraygeous nodded his head. "Getting a none pure requires us to give up a percentage of our power. So it weakens you to an extent." He added.

"Yes it does that's why I don't see the sense in getting one." Lalina said with a yawn.

"No it is okay to have one. You just have to get stronger by accumulating enough gamarax whereby giving up a fraction of your power won't make much of a difference. Also, a none pure acts like a bank where you invest your gamarax. The stronger they get, the more the gamarax doubles. If you take your power back, you will have gotten a crazy load of it." Yolin argued.

"Yeah but still getting one is a weakness. Think about it, for one thing you are weakened and worse if someone kills your none pure, you lose your invested power to them and this is a huge loss on your part. The only way you will get your power back is by killing off their killer but this can prove to be difficult because it will mean going against your own powers." Lalina argued back.

"Wow now I'm not even sure if I would want to have a none pure one day." Naraygeous said in the middle of the argument. "Would you have one Sharaina?" He asked her.

"I don't know. Perhaps I will one day. As for now, having one would seem like too much work." Sharaina answered and wrote something in her book.

"You speak as though you are strong enough to even have one now Sharaina. Do you have a butt load of gamarax?" Lalina taunted her.

Sharaina scoffed. "If only you knew sweetheart. If only you knew."

King Meelzib sat on his throne with his legs crossed. Lavila stood beside him with a proud look on her face. Bowing below him were the Enchanted Seven and their vice commanders.

King Meelzib was feeling rather happy that morning because he was about to have a look at his first batch of creations. He couldn't wait to see the first sample of his training plan.

"They will be writing their exams today. The student that will top will receive further training with me." King Meelzib said.

'I hope it will not be Sharaina.' Sevilon thought to himself.

'My sweet little honey bun will surely receive this honor.' Vice commander Holan thought to himself and smirked.

Emelinia lazily walked around the house holding her waist with a big baby bump. In her hand were muffins she couldn't wait to eat. She spread her legs apart and sat down slowly with difficulty.

Once she was comfortable, she began to eat the muffins. Emana saw her eating and she scowled darkly at her. She went over to Emelinia and snatched the muffins away from her.

Emelinia swallowed hard and nervously looked at Emana who was clearly angry with her. She didn't know what she had done wrong so she felt confused.

Ever since Emana started living with them ten months ago, she had been on Emelinia's case. She scolded her and Akirexer all day and night. She was never satisfied with what they did. She even openly told Emelinia that she didn't like her because she was a seer.

Emelinia chose not to argue with Emana because she was her elder. Just like Akirexer, she beared her insults in silence.

"Grand mama, what is the problem?" Emelinia asked Emana.

"Why haven't you washed my clothes?" Emana angrily asked her.

"I'm sorry I didn't know that you had some clothes that needed washing. Please give them to me and I will get to it." Emelinia said.

"You go and get them yourself. You know where my room is don't you? You are a wife in this household therefore it is your duty to make sure everyone's dirty laundry is taken care of." She sternly scolded Emelinia.

Without another word, Emelinia used one arm to lift herself up while the other one was on her belly. She slowly walked up the stairs while Emana glared at her.

Emelinia went straight to Emana's room. She found a pile of clothes in a corner. A thick blanket was also amongst them.

Emelinia sighed before picking up the clothes and blanket. She struggled to keep all of them from falling as she got down the stairs. Emelinia felt herself step on the blanket. She opted to regain her balance but screamed when she missed a step. Luckily for her, Naian caught her right on time. He got everything away from her and helped her sit down.

"Why did you give her your laundry to do?" He angrily asked Emana.

"Naian please it's okay. I can manage to wash them for her. It is my duty to do so." Emelinia pleaded.

"Emelinia be silent. I am not talking to you. I am talking to her." He admonished and faced Emana. "You know that she is fragile in her condition but you still went ahead and gave her all this laundry to do."

Emana laughed. "I used to do much more laundry than this when I was carrying your father. Do not blame me for your incompetent wife." She coldly answered with no remorse.

"She will not do this laundry." Naian declared.

"She will do it because I want my laundry done." Emana refused.

Naian turned to Emelinia. "If you want to see the bad side of me, you will do this laundry." He dared Emelinia and furiously got up the stairs.

Emelinia felt tensed. "I'm sorry grand ma but I must do as my husband says." Emelinia said and left - leaving Emana irked.

On a bright afternoon in Perivion, excited students could be seen shoving each other as they looked for their results on the notice board. Some were jumping up and down in excitement whereas others gritted their teeth at having failed to reach their target. One of the angry students was Lalina.

"I can't believe that I am in the eleventh position." She growled.

"I am third." Naraygeous happily said. "Congratulations on being second Zentz." Naraygeous patted Zentz's shoulder.

"Thanks man and congratulations on being the fourth, Yolin."

"Thanks." Yolin grinned.

"Where is Sharaina? Doesn't she know that the results are out?" Zentz said to everyone.

"We will just have to check for her." Naraygeous went back to the notice board with Zentz and Yolin following him behind.

They looked on all the papers but they could not find her name. This worried them so much.

"Why do you guys look so upset? I mean you all scored higher than me." Lalina asked them.

"We can't seem to find Sharaina's name anywhere." Naraygeous said.

Lalina laughed. "That can only mean that she completely failed."

Lalina clapped her hands and the students backed away from the notice board. With her finger she looked for Sharaina's name. She started with the last paper because she didn't believe that Sharaina could be on any other paper but that one.

To her dismay her name wasn't on it. Lalina scrolled through the other papers until her finger finally landed on Sharaina's name. She backed away in shock.

"She...she...she" She stammered.

"What? Tell us!" Naraygeous held her.

"Sharaina is first." Lalina finally said and Zentz walked over to the notice board to check. "How is she first? I beat her in the theoretical exam."Lalina complained. "Most of us did. She only beat Naraygeous."

"She is first because she scored so high in the physicals." Zentz explained. "Her lowest physical grade is 97%. So despite the 70% she scored in the theoretical exam, her excellent grades in the physicals pushed her up."

"Oh wow that is amazing." Naraygeous gasped when he saw her results for himself. "Where is she though? She must know the good news. I mean she will be the one to train with King Meelzib."

Sharumez happily rode into the yard. He helped Akirexer out of the wagon. They were both stunned to see Emana angrily doing her laundry. She scowled at them and roughly threw her dress into the dish of water and it splashed on her.

Akirexer had asked Emana to give her the laundry in the morning but she rudely told her to leave it. She wondered why she angrily washed them herself.

"Mama what is the matter?" Sharumez asked her.

"I asked that good for nothing daughter in law of yours to do my laundry and Naian insulted me so badly. I am now forced to do this laundry myself." Emana answered, annoyed.

"Mama but you know that Emelinia can't wash a lot of laundry like this in her condition." Sharumez tried to reason with her.

"Are you justifying your son's insults?" She spat. "I didn't carry you for one year only to be insulted by children that you have fathered."

"I'll talk to him." Sharumez said and left.

"Mama, leave your clothes. I will wash them. Please, let's go inside now." Akirexer pleaded.

Emana scowled at Akirexer and furiously got into the house. Akirexer followed her inside and she listened to Sharumez call Naian and Emelinia down the stairs.

Emelinia felt so afraid when she heard Sharumez. She assumed that Emana told him about how rudely Naian spoke to her. Naian had no fear in him. He left the room to go to his father. Emelinia followed him out.

When Naian was finally down the stairs, Sharumez handed him a paper. Naian was puzzled by that but when his eyes fell on the paper, he laughed in joy. He gave the paper to Emelinia and she shrieked in excitement.

Emana looked on infuriated. She expected Sharumez to scold Naian for being so rude to her but he did something else.

"Sharaina scored the highest? This is so amazing!" Naian said.

"We are so proud of her." Akirexer happily said.

"I wouldn't have expected anything less from her. If only we could see her and celebrate with her." Emelinia spoke up. "She must be so excited huh?"

"She is to train personally with King Meelzib. Her career in the military will have an excellent start!" Sharumez added excitedly.

'Oh no!' Emelinia panicked internally.

****

Sharaina was snoring softly under the shade of a tree. In her mouth was a strand of grass. Yolin and Zentz were looking for her but neither of them saw her under the tree. Lalina saw her and she went to her and pulled her leg. Sharaina woke up with a jolt and looked at Lalina with so much confusion in her eyes.

"What the hell Lalina?" She asked her when she finally processed what happened.

"And you have to train with King Meelzib. What kind of a lady sleeps in public?" Lalina asked her.

"A tired one." Sharaina answered. "What do you mean I have to train with King Meelzib?"

"You topped the class." Lalina answered her annoyed, her words dripping with jealousy.

"Wait what?" Sharaina got up surprised. "I scored the highest?" She asked her again but Lalina only scowled at her and walked away. "Well I'd be damned."

Commander Sevilon walked back and forth in his room. He had the look of frustration and it worried Reena. She had asked him what the matter was but he didn't answer her. He instead spoke quietly to himself.

"Emelinia should know of a way we can stop this." He said loud enough for Reena to hear.

****

King Meelzib took a look at the results of the students. He was intrigued to know that the highest was a not of age warrior.

Could she be the one I have been looking for?

He had spent months searching for her and now it appeared that she was going to be delivered to him on a silver platter.

'If she is the one, I will strike her dead the moment I set my eyes on her.' He grinned to himself. "Mother," King Meelzib said to Lavila.

"Yes my son." She lovingly answered.

"I want this girl brought to the castle tomorrow for her first training session." King Meelzib said.

"It will be as you wish." Lavila answered and left.

King Meelzib took a look at the results and he was intrigued by Sharaina's high scores. "Sharaina Sharumez, I'm starting to believe that you are the one I seek."

Emelinia felt that she really needed to see Commander Sevilon. She slipped away into the kitchen and found her way outside. She then drew a portal and disappeared into it. Emelinia appeared at Commander Sevilon's gate in Cherilisia.

She hadn't been in Cherilisia for a year now and it felt strange to be back. She remembered the years she spent there. The day she left felt like it was yesterday because the feeling of fear was still fresh.

She looked over at Sevilon's mansion and remembered how Lavila used to visit the mansion sometimes. She hoped that she wasn't going to find her wicked aunt in there. Emelinia knocked on the gate and a guard approached her. His shadow fell on her and she met his intimidating gaze.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" He asked.

"My name is Emelinia Naian. I am here to see Commander Sevilon. Please it is important that I do." Emelinia said.

"Who is at the gate?" Reena shouted from her terrace.

"My lady, it is some woman known as Emelinia Naian. She is here to see the commander." He respectfully answered.

"Emelinia?" Sevilon gasped. "Let her in at once." He ordered Reena and she told the guard.

Reena watched Sevilon go with Emelinia to his office. She wasn't happy that he didn't introduce them. It puzzled her why he seemed so relieved that she had come. Reena knew that bombarding Sevilon with questions only angered him so she kept her peace and went out for a walk.

"What do we do about this? He will kill her the moment he sets his eyes on her. It's also impossible to stop her from going to the castle to train with him. A direct order has been given that she must do so. Disobeying it will cause dire consequences for her." Sevilon stressed.

"Don't worry. I will solve this problem." Emelinia said. "I must get to it now. If I delay, I may anger my husband. He doesn't know that I have left home. I had to sneak out."

"I understand. Do you need my help with anything?" Sevilon asked her.

"I need about one hundred pearls." Emelinia answered. "I left home without any money." She added.

Sevilon reached for his pocket and pulled out his wallet. He took out a hundred pearl bill and handed it to Emelinia. "Are you sure that this is all you need?" He asked her.

"Yes it is. Thank you." Emelinia said and left using a portal.
