Chapter 60: Chapter 60
Frank's POV
I regained consciousness a little over an hour later according to the nurses and was told I had a panic attack.
When I asked about Joanna, it was relayed to me that she was admitted to the same hospital but in a different room.
I immediately traced my steps to the location after I was told the room number and went straight in search of her, despite the protests of the nurses and other patients in the same ward with me, to have some rest.
Now, there I was sitting beside her bed as she lay still, the steady rise and fall of her chest plus the lack of wires connected to her, the only assurance she was asleep and not in a coma.
I had been sat in that same position for hours. I forbade to speak to anyone no matter how hard they tried, the nurses, the doctor, her parents, Elvis, even her friends, I spoke to no one.
They tried to find out what happened but I couldn't get myself to say a word. I had many things to blurt out rather I just couldn't get my brain to coordinate with my lips.
I heard the doctor tell Mr & Mrs. Alex and my parents I was still in a state of shock due to the serious panic attack I had. They were assured that it was a side effect that would pass soon.
I was still sitting there with cramps passing through my bones every minute as a result of staying in the same position without movement when I heard some footsteps and voices that followed afterward.
I noticed their voices and steps get louder as they came closer and later recognized the owners, as that of Ifeanyi, Fahvour, and Elvis.
"Hey,"
"Hey bro," they all mumbled at the same time as they spotted me.
"How's she doing?" Elvis asked, and I simply shrugged in response.
"Don't worry she'll be okay," Fahvour spoke as she squeezed me in a hug.
"It's alright, she's fine." Ifeanyi nodded to me as Elvis patted my shoulder lightly, unable to utter a syllable.
I simply sniffed and wiped off the tears that slid down my cheeks and then proceeded to stare ahead of me as I attempted to recall what I did wrong to warrant the heartbreak I was receiving.
"Are you hungry?" Fahvour questioned and I shook my head in denial.
"Come on dude, eat something," Ifeanyi urged and seized the other seat in the room to place it opposite me before he threw his weight on it and leaned forward as I declined.
This made him agitated as he fixed me with a stare and whined "Dude! I don't wanna lose you too, eat something."
I decided to put them out of their misery especially when my stomach made a silly noise and took the outstretched spoon from Ifeanyi's palm to put the grains of the Jollof rice in my mouth.
"Now that's more like it." Fahvour grinned, the same time Elvis scoffed, as he muttered something under his breath that sounded like *sometimes I wonder if you both are dating and not my sister* this earned him a glare from me and a punch from Fahvour.
Wait, now I think of it Elvis and Fahvour came off as a bit cozy, I mean they always have, but I was just taking note of that then.
I bestowed Ifeanyi a questioning look as I signaled in their direction, to which he just ignored me.
"Are you two dating?" I interrogated.
"Hey! Don't talk while eating," Fahvour scolded, as Elvis bobbed his head in affirmation until their eyes widened as they suddenly realized I spoke, heck I couldn't believe it myself.
Ifeanyi didn't act surprised at all, instead, he sat there in front of me with a grin on his face as he mumbled a "You both owe me 1k each."
"What!" I facepalmed after I came to terms with the fact they bet on me "You bet on me?"
"Well, we bet that whoever got you to speak will get 2k and the fool got it." Elvis groaned, "Again, I wonder if you are dating him and not my sister."
"Eew, why would I?" I ridiculed "He's my cousin, plus I could do better than him if I was gay."
"Ugh shut up, y'all just jealous I'm getting the 2k." Ifeanyi winked.
I glared at them all and grabbed the plate of Jollof rice he held which I succeeded in before I dived in to munch on it.
"I thought you were not hungry," Elvis let out "I had hoped I would get your leftovers."
"Well, your loss." Fahvour beamed, "Keep eating bro."
"I hear you sister," I mumbled, followed by an appreciative smile as I murmured a "Thank you so much, guys. I guess it took an annoying Ifeanyi to get my brain working."
"Don't worry bro, like I said she'll be fine. The doctor said there's no problem, her brain is just rebooting," Fahvour said in a bid to console me.
"Not his exact words but we'll go with that," Elvis mumbled, a weird look in Fahvour's path.
"Hello, bitches! What's popping over here!" Harmony howled after the door flew open and in he walked, Tenda, Blake, and Tony right behind him.
"Shhhhh! Sick person in the room," Elvis conversed in a shushing manner.
"Ooh, how is my bestfriend doing?" Tenda inquired as she ambled over to Ana's side.
"How are you doing bitch?" She whispered in a query to her ear that attained her some murmuring from Ana prompting a wide grin being spread on her face in glee.
"Did you see that? Did you?" She squealed and ran towards Harmony "She responded! She answered my question! who's her bestfriend now?"
"Shut up." Harmony grumbled, "She replied you, but trust me I will be the first person she recognizes when she wakes up, bet me." He said and stretched out his palm for her to beat, which she did, and gave him a glare that said "oh it's on."
"Cut it out you two!" Blake grunted, "You guys are betting on a sick Jo? Count me in!"
"2k each?" Tenda questioned, a challenging look in her eyes.
"Winner takes 4k." Blake nodded in claim same time Harmony called out "I'm in."
I sat there, a smile on my face, while I stared at the kind of friends Ana has around her, and I couldn't help but feel proud.
"Hey Blake, where's Dora? I think I saw her some time ago or was it yesterday?" I implored, not sure when.
"Oh, right, that was the time you were in space, yeah she was here." He taunted, an angry expression plastered on his face.
"Don't look at me like that." I growled, "I was in shock, heck I still am. Though I'm beginning to accept what happened, it's not easy to see, your other half slip before your eyes."
He nodded, "I understand, I'm sorry for sounding harsh. How are you by the way?"
"Good," I replied in a shrug.
"How's our friend doing?" The doctor quizzed as he waddled in unannounced, startling us a bit, me especially hence he could give good news or bad news.
