Chapter 57: Chapter 57

Joanna's POV

"Umm, hmm." I cleared my throat not able to coordinate words to say.

"Umm, why are you putting on a suit in this blazing sun?" I interviewed, finally able to say something tangible.

He didn't reply, rather he stood there grinning from ear to ear.

"What are you doing?" I raised a question, my voice a bit louder this time.

"We my lady are going out on a date," He conveyed, and let himself in.

"Date? Why?" I disputed a bit flustered as I made an effort to hide my blush.

"Follow me if you want to find out." He smirked, his statement having an underlying meaning that I wasn't able to comprehend.

"Alright," I agreed hesitantly. "Can you wait a bit while I put on something reasonable to wear?"

"You look fine to me." He winked, and I felt the invisible butterflies in my stomach begin their gymnastics.

"Okay, but I might look like an agbero to others," I retorted in a chuckle. "Anyway, hold on, I'll be right back."

"No worries, I know my way around." He communicated and gave me a wave as I whirled to climb the stairs.

I nodded and rushed up to my room, there I inhaled rapidly to calm my raging hormones.

Why I was so bothered around him was confusing, seeing as I didn't feel that way the last time we hung out. Maybe it was due to what I was told, or maybe it was the fact that my feelings for him had gotten stronger despite our indifferences.

I shook off my wandering thoughts and trudged to my wardrobe. Swinging the doors open, I glanced through my clothes, unfortunately, I couldn't find something good to wear.

I was going for something casual, sexy, and conducive for the blazing heat.

"Ugh, I need help." I lamented and grabbed my phone a minute later to scroll through my contacts. I halted at Tenda's, tapping the dial icon, and waited as it rang.

"Pick up, pick up, pick up," I chanted while I waited for the hoe to answer which depended on if she wasn't fvcking Tony at that moment.

"Okay eeew, eeew, why did I just think that?" I chastised myself as I gagged and made a mental note to google how to wash a brain.

"Hello," She picked up.

I sighed in relief and asked. "Hey, hey babe, are you busy?"

"Never too busy for my bestfriend bae," She answered, her voice husky.

"Are you okay?" I queried, concerned.

"Yeah, yeah." She sighed "I'm fine its just---"

"Hey, Jo, no offense but you are kind of interrupting something." A voice that sounded like Tony's said through the phone.

"Okay, eew." I gagged for the second time that day as I realized what he implied. "Why did you speak?"

"Shut the hell up and get outa here," Tenda scolded, after which I heard Tony grumble a fvck you at me before I heard silence.

"So babe watsup?" She invited, as I then had her full attention.

"Um," I mumbled, "I'm kind of stuck. I can't seem to find something to wear."

"Oooh, where's lover girl going? Frank finally manned up?" I could hear the smirk in her tone as she inquired.

"Something like that, so help me----"

I was cut short by a loud squeal that nearly destroyed my eardrums.

"Are you done?" I dared, rolling my eyes. And it seemed she wasn't as another squeal of her's followed up after I spoke.

"I'm done now, so tell me, what look are you going for?" She murmured after she had settled from her squealing fit.

"Casual, cute, sexy, and comfortable enough to help me manage this heat." I sighed.

"He's there already?" She suspected. This made me facepalm at her low attention span.

"Yes, now focus, you know my wardrobe more than I do, so give me some inspiration." I groaned out.

"Okay, sorry. You remember that cute flowery top and that matching palazzo trouser you wore to that event with me back then?"

"Oh my GOD yes." I grinned, "Thank you so much baby, thank you, thank you, thank you, you are the best, I love you."

"I'm awesome I know."  She laughed, "Anyways, good luck girl. Go get your man while I handle a very angry mine over here."

"Gross, bye," I called out and ended the call hastily before I could start hearing weird noises.

I fished out the clothes she suggested and presided to the bathroom, there I had a quick shower, walked back into the room, and pulled on the designated trouser together with the cute blouse.

Packing my braids in an updo, I applied some lip balm and wore around beady earing to complete the look. I didn't think to bother with makeup because I had shaped my eyebrows a few days ago, plus there was heat so there was no need for it as it would get smudged by sweat.

I smiled at my reflection when I was finished and assembled my Atm card, phone, charger, and earphones into the cute-looking blue bag I had recently bought that went well with my outfit.

Strapping on my black stilettos that had little white stones on them, I swung the bag across my shoulder, locked my room, and descended the stairs.

"Hey Francis, sorry for keeping you waiting," I said an apologetic smile in place as I reached him.

The click of my heels and the sound of my voice made him swirl round in my direction, resulting in his jaw practically dropping as his eyes raked down my body from head to toe. This made my heart flutter and my cheeks turn pink as that was the only compliment I needed.

He collected himself after I had snapped my finger a few times in his face and cleared his throat before he spoke. "You look--"

I didn't let him complete that sentence, instead, I interrupted him with a wide grin on my face when I blurted a, "don't stress, your face was compliment enough."

"Alright." He bobbed his head and straightened his suit in a bid to look less dazed but that didn't work as I still observed his eyes wander down my body once more.

Speaking of his attire though, he was dressed in navy blue slacks and a matching suit jacket that covered a black button-up shirt that peaked through his sleeve and enhanced the broadness of his chest since the first few buttons were open.

It was now my turn to gape in awe at the fine specimen in my sight. I knew it was rare for a guy to look bad in a suit, but he wore it like he was born to rock it all the days of his life if you get what I mean.

"You are drooling," He spoke in a smirk that prompted a gasp from me as I was caught eye fvcking him.

"It's worth it," I responded in a smirk of mine that left him dumbfounded.

"Come on dude, we have a date to start." I winked and tossed him the house key to lock up afterward while I gave myself an invisible pat on the back for making him unable to form words.

"You would think you won that round." He sneered as he strolled out to meet me leaning on his car.

"Suck it up looser, I always win." I beamed and stepped into the passenger seat after he had unlocked the car with the remote control.

"One day Ana, one day, I'm gonna win," He argued as I snorted.

"Where are we going? And this time you have to tell me," I spoke and fixed him a knowing glare as he revised out of the spacious compound.

"Ugh, you want to destroy my fun!" He exclaimed. "I'm taking you to Kristine Hotel where we would have a nice lunch and talk about things."

"Thank GOD." I exhaled, happy that I didn't underdress.

As he drove us to the location of the said hotel, I was lost in my thoughts.

I couldn't help but think of how to tell him I knew everything, plus also apologize for giving him that trauma and guilt because of my childhood carelessness.

Why I still didn't remember anything till that instant was so confusing because seeing him should have at least triggered some memories hence he was a direct link to my past.
