Chapter 76: Chapter 76

I never really imagined that this kind of thing would happen right in front of my eyes. When I was here, together with Enver’s family. Having a nice and chill conversation with them, without pretending that they like me.

For the first time, I feel like I am part of this family and they finally accepted me as their son’s wife.

After we finished our dinner, we decided to continue our conversation in the living room. We took our drinks with us and I offered them to stay here for tonight because I know that they also want to catch up with Enver.

Ferry went home a little while ago. Lainz didn't want her to stay late so he went here to pick her up. Castiel decided not to join us here to give us more time to be with each other and she went upstairs to sleep in one of the guest rooms I prepared for her.

Enver and I were having a conversation with his siblings, while his parents were busy with Millie and they were unwrapping their gifts for her.

“What?” Enver said to his siblings. “Enish divorced her husband?” Enish is one of his sisters who is one year younger than him. “Why?”

“The bastard was having an affair with his cousin,” Ethyl said. “So, without giving him any chance to explain and find a way out, Enish immediately filed a divorce case against him.”

“What the hell? “ I said. “That was so messed up. Having an affair was already a shame, yet he still chose his cousin to be his mistress.”

“Yeah, you are right,” Erwin agreed. “We have been dealing with a lot of things these past few months. That's why Dad has been regretting everything bad that he did in the past. He felt like karma finally found him and thought that his children were the ones who bore the sufferings.”

“Well, it is clear that he trusted the wrong people,” Enver said.

“Enish said the same to him,” Ethyl added. “He kept trusting the people who only did nothing but bad to our family. And he was rejecting the people who didn't even think of avenging our evil deeds before.”

“I admit that it is my fault,” Don Emil said. “And I promised everyone that I won’t make the same mistake again.”

“Then, what did you do, Dad?” Enver asked. “Are you still in contract with them?”

He shook his head before turning his head on us. “I already cut my connection to all the people who betrayed our family, Especially with the Sarmientos.”

“But they are one of the biggest investors in your overseas companies, right?” I said. “They are the ones funding most of your projects abroad.”

That is one of the reasons why he really wanted Enver to marry Vivien. He wanted to make sure that if something happened in the past, all of his company would remain in the hands of his family.

“Will you be alright without their help?”

He sighed and shook his head. “It will affect all our operations abroad and we might be forced to close all of it,” he said. “But Elie said that it is better than continuing our connection to the people who once fooled us.”

“Elie may not be like Enver who excels in the business industry but I believe he can handle everything,” Madame Venice added. “Erwin and Enish will support him.”

“What about Vivien’s son?” I asked. “He grew up knowing that you were his father’s family. Did you just give him up to her?”

“Of course, not!” Ethyl said. “Actually, it is the other way around.”

I blinked. “What? That woman gave up his son?”

They nodded.

“Vivien never loved the boy,” Madame said. “She just gave birth to him, after that, she didn’t even try to take care of him. She passed her responsibility to the maids and continued living his lifestyle like she didn’t have a child.”

Oh. Now I understand.

Since Enver couldn’t make her pregnant after the night she took advantage of him, she slept with someone else. When she finally got pregnant, she claimed that it was Enver’s child and held that child as a hostage to make Don Emil push his plan to marry them together.

But sad to say, that didn’t happen, despite all their schemes.

“After the confrontation you had at Raiden that exposed all her lies, she immediately left our house. She didn’t even bring the kid with her,” Erwin added. “Actually, even the Sarmientos don't want to take him in. They insisted that they have nothing to do with the boy and refused to acknowledge him as their family.”

“Oh god!”

I didn’t expect that Vivien was that kind of woman.

I mean, I know that she is a bitch. And she will do everything to get what she wants, especially when it comes to a man. But I didn’t expect that she would neglect her son just because all her lies got exposed.

“What happened to the kid?” Enver asked. “Did you put him in an orphanage?”

Ethyl pouted. “We are not that heartless, brother,” she said. “We love the kid despite his real identity. And even though Vivien used him to fool all of us, we never intended to blame him.”

“Elie adopted him,” Don Emil said. “He said that having a child without marrying any woman would be a good advantage to him since he doesn’t have the patience to deal with women.” He sighed and shook his head. “I don’t really understand how my children think.”

I kind of felt relief after hearing that they still chose to take care of the kid and maintain his spot as part of their family.

I feel bad because he got involved in his mother’s scheme but I guess he was still fortunate because he got the love of the Andrius Clan.

“Since Sarmientos doesn’t want to deal with the kid, they immediately signed the paper that officially terminated their relationship with the boy so the process of the adoption was not that hard,” Erwin said. “But Vivien tried to intervene with the process and said that she would only give up her rights as the mother if we would give him a huge sum of money.”

I grimaced. “That bitch doesn’t have shame in her body. She has the guts to use the kid to make some money, yet she didn’t even think twice about leaving him to you.”

I felt Enver caressed my back to calm me down.

Well, I can’t help but feel angry because of that woman. We were talking about a kid, a kid who got involved in their messy evil scheme and didn’t even get the chance to feel the love from his own mother.

But that woman has some nerve to use him for her own advantage.

Talk about shamelessness. Tsk!

“Please don’t stress yourself, wifey,” Enver whispered to me. “The kid is now okay. They already finalized the adoption papers and I’m sure Elie will take care of the kid.”

I took a deep breath and nodded.

I know Elie, their eldest brother. He loves kids and is a responsible one.

And just like Erwin, he was also nice to me. We were not close but he never treated me badly, just like what his sister did to me. He respected me as his brother’s wife.

There were times that he also protected me against his cousins who tried to bully me.

“Yeah,” Ethyl said. “Big brother will take care of the kid so you don’t have to worry. Besides, Vivien didn’t get anything from us.”

Erwin nodded. “We don’t know what happened but she suddenly showed up at the hearing and signed the documents. After that, she never tried to contact us again.”

Well, I guess I was too worked up when it came to children. And I can’t help it.

Maybe because I also have a kid in my life who I want to protect so I also want to make sure that the kid is fine.

“Ma’am…”Louise, one of our maids, approached me. “You have other visitors that have just arrived. They introduced themselves as Sir Elie and Ma’am Enish.”

“Oh, great!” Millie stood up and ran outside the house.

Enver immediately ran after him while I turned my head to my in-laws. “Did you also invite them?”

They all shook their heads and I could see that they were also confused as to why those two suddenly arrived here.

After a while, Enver and Millie went back inside. Elie, Enish, and a boy, who I think is the same age as my daughter, were following them until they arrived at the living area.

We stood up and greeted them.

“It looks like you don’t have any idea that we would be here,” Enish said after seeing us. She took something in her purse and showed her phone to us.

And she received a message under my number that stated an invitation for a sleepover here, together with the rest of the family. At the end of the message, Millie’s name was stated there.

We turned our eyes to the little girl who was grinning from ear to ear. As if she was proud of what she did.

“I sent those messages,” she proudly said. “I thought that it would be better if our family was complete. Not just with Daddy’s parents and two siblings.”

“Well, I hope you don’t mind,” Elie said. “We also want to meet Millie, that is why we came here even though the invitation didn’t come straight from you.”

I looked at him and shook my head. “No, it is okay,” I said. “I mean, there is no problem that you came here. Just like what Millie said, it is better that you are also here to join us. I was just thinking that we probably disturbed you with your work.”

I wanted to pinch Millie’s cheeks because of this. I was planning to take everything slowly, especially when we just suddenly set this meeting. Besides, I was thinking that Enver’s siblings were busy with their work so I planned a different reunion that included them.

“Don’t worry about that,” Enish said. “In fact, we were thankful because she included us in this gathering. Even though I know that she is aware of what we did in the past.”

I shook my head and smiled at her. “Let’s just forget what happened in the past. You already realized your mistake and are trying your best to change. That is more than enough for me.”

“Anyway, please meet my son,” Elie said and I turned my eyes to the little boy hiding beside him. “He is Earlvin. I am sure you were aware of him, right?”

I sat down to level our faces and smile at him. “Nice to meet you, young man.”

He stared at me. “I know you,” he said. “My mommy always showed your pictures to me and said that you were the one who stole my daddy.”

Everyone got alarmed by what the kids said and was about to yell at him but I immediately stopped them and waited for his next word.

Well, he said that but I don’t feel any hostility from him. He never said that out of anger. It was more like just a statement since that really happened.

“But I never believed her.” He slowly approached me. “A nice lady like you would never do something bad to other people.” He took something out of his pocket and showed it in front of me.

And my eyes widened when I recognized the necklace in his palm.

“Wait…” Enver said while staring at the necklace. “This was yours. I gave it to you when we got married.” That necklace was personalized and it was Enver who personally made its design so it is unique.

I took that and stared at it for a little while, then I looked at him as I remembered the day that I gave this thing to someone. “That was you? The little boy that I helped when some guy tried to kidnap you?

“What?”

I stood up and I saw everyone was shocked by what they had just heard.

I guess they never heard about that incident.

“It happened three years ago,” I said. “I don’t know how he got into the subdivision where I lived before. His clothes were dirty and messy. He has a lot of bruises and wounds. He was running away from a man trying to chase after him.”

I didn’t think twice before and intercepted. I carried him without even saying anything, then I locked us both inside my canteen. The man tried to break in but before he could even do something, a lot of my customers from the nearby factory came to rescue us.

He was apprehended by the police and they brought them to the police station.

And when I was about to leave him in the care of the social workers, he panicked and cried while begging me not to leave him there.

I think he was still scared so the police agreed to let him stay with me until they were locating his family. He stayed with me for three days.

“I think that was when Vivien said that she dropped him off at her parents’ house,” Enish said. “As far as we know, he stayed there for almost two weeks.”

“Yeah,” Ethyl said. “And that bitch was acting strange. She even refused to let us see him or even talk to him, saying that he was with his grandparents.”

“I gave him this necklace to calm her since he was still scared to come with other people, even though they were from the police.”

Millie didn’t meet him at that time because Ferry and Castiel took her out to have some fun since I couldn't bring her out myself at that time.

I smiled and messed up the boy’s hair. “I didn’t expect that you were the so-called son of my husband.” I gave the necklace back to him. “This is yours already. I may not be able to give my husband who you thought of as your father, but I can give you enough love and attention as my nephew.”

He shook his head. “I know everything that day so it doesn’t really matter to me,” he said. “I am just glad that they still loved me despite what my mom did. And even though I am not really part of their family.”

“Hey!” Millie exclaimed. “You are part of the family. You are Uncle Elie’s son so you are my cousin.” She took his hand and shook it. “Anyway, I am Millie Vera. You can also treat me as your sister since you once thought of my dad as your dad.”

We smiled as Millie approached him. I guess we don’t have to worry about anything. They will surely get along with each other.

We let Elie, Enish, and Earlvin eat a light dinner first before they joined us in the living room for a couple of drinks.

And as I stared at Earlvin who was playing with Millie, I remembered something.

“Hey…” I slightly poked Enver’s shoulder to get his attention.

He turned to me. “What is it, wifey?”

I narrowed my eyes on him. “Are you sure that he is not your son?”

He frowned and stared at me. “What makes you think that I am his father?”

“His attitude was the same as Millie,” I said. “He was just three years old when I met him. But it feels like he already understands what is happening around him. Aside from panicking whenever someone tried to take him away from me, he never cried when he was in my house. As if he knows that he was safe with me.”

He held my hand and looked me straight in the eyes. “Wifey, I am telling you this, I am not his father.” He only whispered that to me so no one would hear about it. “We already did a lot of DNA tests to confirm that.”

“Oh well,” I said and turned to Earlvin who was starting to get comfortable around my daughter. “It doesn’t matter anymore. I am just glad that everything is finally okay.”
